  1. I am selfpay too. If he can't do it I am totally screwed and out all that money. I haven't eaten any of that stuff in weeks so I really hoping I did enough for Wednesday.
  2. I know we are all going to have drink Protein shakes at some point so I have been doing some taste tests. LOL The best will get 5  faces. The worst 1 :frown: face. The first one I tried was the Walmart chocolate brand. It is a big tub for 13 bucks. Great deal! Bad taste. I could barely drink but I gagged it down. I will probably throw it out unless someone here in the Vancouver/Portland area wants it. It gets only one  drool face. Then I tried a couple of the protein bullets. I had one cold and one room temp. Either way they had okay flavor. I prefer them room temp. Because when they are cold it is almost like a Jello shot and who wants to do a jello shot with no booze?!? The Protein Bullets get :huh2::drool::drool: drool faces. The last brand I tried is Syntrax nectar Protein powder in Caribbean Cooler. Oh my gosh! It is so good. It tastes just like a tropical juice mix. Of course, it has the bit of "this tastes like a protein shake" thing but it tastes so much better than the other two brands I tried. It mixes up clear. It has 90 calories and NO CARBS!! When I can have fruit again, I am going to blend this up with some ice and banana. YUM! The Nectar series comes in a bunch of yummy flavors. I bought my jug o'powder at my local Vitamin Shoppe and they ordered me the Nectar in Latte Cappuccino flavor. I can now have my "coffee" too! WOOT! The best part about the Vitamin Shoppe is they told me if I take some protein powder home and I absolutely hate it I can bring it back for a full refund. The Syntrax Nectar gets: :drool::drool::drool::drool: drool faces.
  3. I am going to need a fill doctor in Vancouver, WA too. Do you know how much your doctor charges for fills? My insurance doesn't cover them. Thanks!
  4. I am originally from Denver. We moved to the Portland area in December. It will be nice to see my family and have my mom take care of me. lol Let me know about the 23rd. For all I know we may not be able to eat at all the night before surgery. What have you been eating on your pre-op? Are you sticking with plain chicken and greens or are you doing the full on Atkins diet. I am somewhere in between. Why do we have a rectal suppository?!?! What the ?*!* Welcome aboard! Everyone is really nice over there but I can never keep track of any of my posts so I never know if anyone answers me. LOL I promise I will tell you everything! I am the type of person who needs to know every little detail. I don't want any surprises at all. So, my pre-op diet is going well. I am wondering what else you Dr. K girls are eating. I have been doing a very strict Atkins diet. I haven't had flour or sugar in 3 weeks (I started early). My problem with Atkins is that how can eating any kind of meat, cheese, dairy, and some veggies be good for us? I know this is only 10 days but I am considering do the last 7 days just grilled chicken or something.
  5. Oh my gosh that would be so great. I always hate asking doctors about pain medication. I don't want them to think I am a junkie. LOL
  6. Yay! More Dr. K girls on here. What time is your pre-op next Tuesday? Mine is at 2:30. Thanks for the dinner invite but I am not sure if I will be able to make it. I think my mom has a family get together planned. It will be the second time I have been home since I moved so I think she is getting a little excited. LOL Where are you going for dinner and what time? If I can escape I may come see you!! :frown::thumbup:
  7. I have tried asking questions on the Dr. K thread but there are too many people and I can never see if anyone answers my questions. Plus, I always feel like I am interrupting their conversation by asking questions. I know there are a few Dr. K Samurais so I was hoping they could help us out.

    I feel like crap

I hope you start feeling better soon!
  9. Hi Everyone!! I'm Michelle and I am getting banded on Sept. 24th. Woo-hoo!! I live in Vancouver, WA with my husband Sean and 3 year old daughter Agnes. I am getting banded in Denver by Dr. Kirschenbaum. The silly thing is I just moved from Denver to the Pacific NW in Dec. Had I only know about him before. I look forward to getting to know all of you. Michelle

    Band Name Game

I am naming my port. His name FRANKENPORT aka FRANK! I feel like the Frankenstein monster getting this thing put in me. LOL I tend to use "franken" a lot. When I was in my last month of pregnancy I could barely walk because my crotch area hurt so bad from the muscles stretching or whatever they were doing. So, I had to name it...Frankencrotch!! Okay, that may have been too much information. LOL
  11. Sorry about all my posts. If I am annoying you all I can stop. I promise! Is anyone else really paranoid about their liver? What if they get in there and can't do the surgery? I am self-pay so this is a one time shot. I am following my pre-op diet. I even started it early. But what if it isn't enough? I want this surgery more than anything in the world. I even emailed my dr.'s office today to ask about fruit. They said fruit should be okay but after reading comments on my other post I am going to cut fruit out too. Can you tell I am freaking out completely?:eek::crying::scared2:

    Protein Shake Taste Test Results

Um, YUM!!! I wish more companies would sell samples of their flavors. They would make so much more money. I want to try so many different ones but they are pricey and I just don't need 20 pounds of Protein powder. LOL Do you like your Magic Bullet? Is it worth the price?

    Really starting to worry

You are going to be SO fine!!! But I am right there with you about the cereal. Oh, I love my cereal. LOL Just remember Nothing will ever taste as good as skinny feels!!!! You can do this. I think once we all get our bands the new eating lifestyle won't be as hard or as restrictive as we think. We won't be able to eat a lot so we will see that small salad and think "Holy crap! I can't eat all of that!' It is going to be awesome. P.S. I just took an anxiety happy pill so I may seem a little more upbeat than usual. LOL

  16. Hey Deb! Thanks. This board is great. You all seem like a great bunch of girls!! Thank you so much for your email. I have so many questions. LOL It is nice to find someone close who went to Dr. K. I am flying out on the 22nd too. What airline are you on? Maybe we will be at the airport at the same time.
  17. Welcome to the Samuri club!!
  18. I am flying in from Portland on the 22nd for my surgery on the 24th. Hooray! Has anyone had any trouble getting their medications through airline security? I know they come in liquid form so I wasn't sure if I would need to check my bag with the medication or not. I also saw someone said they got a packet from Dr. K. Did you get this at your pre-op appt., did they mail it to you, or are you talking about the emailed documents his office sent for my phone consultation. My official pre-op diet starts on Weds. I am so scared my liver won't shrink in time but I haven't been eating flour or carbs for 10 days already so hopefully that will help too!

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Thank you all for sharing your stories. It really helps to hear everything so I am more in the know. Jennifer, I agree with Debbie. You are doing great! You just had major surgery so it is okay if you take it easy. Take your pain meds and rest if you need to. You will be up before you know it and losing weight!!

    Really starting to worry

Thanks Debbie! I swear this board is my saving grace. Without all of you I think I would go crazy. I have been following my pre-op diet. I started a week early. I feel pretty good about that. I made an appt. to see my primary care physician on Tuesday. I am going to talk to her about my "liverophobia". Maybe she can do an ultrasound or push on it or something to put my mind more at ease. LOL I am also hoping she can give me something for the anxiety I am feeling. Who knew doing something so right could make you so crazy?!?!?

Anyone else have a "bad" EKG? I failed!!!

Debbie, I am so glad everything is going to be okay. How scary that you had a heart attack! Just think you are starting a new life to prevent this from happening!!! I am so proud of you!!

    Really starting to worry

You have definitely taken some of my "freaking out" away. I just want this so badly. The unknown is so scary. I wish there was some way we could feel our liver on the outside to see if it was shrinking. LOL

    Low Carb Foods

Awesome! Thank you so much for this!

    Low Carb Foods

Can you eat fruit on a low carb diet? I was told no bread, Pasta, potatoes, or rice before my surgery and to follow a low carb diet. What do you think?
