Incredibleshrinkiningkiley got a reaction from TriciaC. in Any April 2021 surgeries?!
Hello everyone! My surgery date was April 27, I am down 70lbs from my liquid diet and 60 from the day I went into surgery. Size 20-size 14(I would be a size 12 but I have big hips and a big bottom still) for workouts I’m hiking, walking, starting to run, swimming, yoga(hot yoga is my favorite) and HIIT. In the mornings I eat my Protein yogurt then I’ll snack around 11, then I’ll eat my lunch which is a piece of cheese and feta and olive salad, then I do a Protein Shake for dinner I do chicken or salmon. I can’t do beef and I’m real careful about pork. I’m drinking tons of water! I’m so happy I can have salads and fruits now. Hope everyone is doing well.

Stalls are normal my love. Things that help me with stalls are relaxing and knowing it’s temporary. Also measuring helps. Switch up your workout routine a little too. My friend who had the surgery said she carb loads to break a stall, I personally can’t have carbs because they make me sick. I take care of myself everyday and I love to relax in the tub burn some incense and take time for me. I don’t weigh myself everyday anymore like I was. Our bodies like certain weights and have a hard time coming out of them. But just like the 3-4 week stall we had back a few months ago this one will pass too!

Anyone have any NSV to share? I’m in a large shirt now(went from 2x) and my waist size is 35 inches which means I officially have a healthy non obese waist size according to the cdc. I’m down exactly 50lbs! So proud of myself and my journey so far.

hows the gym going for everyone? I’m hitting it 5x a week. Also I’m loving my yoga routine.

im starting to be able to eat more than usual. Meal prepping is going really well for me. But chicken is the only meat I can do as fish just makes me cringe, turkey is to heavy and sits in my tummy like a rock, pork is ok but I don’t like it so much.

Because everyone is at a different starting weight and everyone’s bodies react different. As long as in the long run you end up meeting your goal weight that’s what matters it’s not a race.

Thank you! I tried just about everything so I decided to try to eat a strawberry since I haven’t had a carb in almost 2 months and that actually helped a lot. My program is not allowing fruits carbs or veggies yet. No way I’m gonna get fat from 2 small strawberries lol. And my stomach handled it way better than most foods.

Today I just became and emotional wreck. I am crying I am feeling stressed I am feeling defeated. It’s mostly because I can’t do much of anything other than walk around, I’m still in a good amount of pain from surgery and I am relying on others to take care of my child and myself so it’s been hard. It’s like people are making me feel guilty because “I chose to have the surgery” therefore I should feel guilty for asking for help. I feel like my emotions are amplified more than normal because of the changes to my body. Any significance with that?

Incredibleshrinkiningkiley got a reaction from SH76 in 4 weeks and feeling hungry a lot
No thigh pain other than when I was doing a lot of sitting the first few weeks. I would call your dr that could be electrolytes or something worse. As for purées I did a lot of egg salad and tuna. Now I’m on purée/soft foods and I’m trying to add more variety. Every program varies so much though on when you can have what foods. Here’s what a day of mine looks like.

    breakfast: Protein Shake
    lunch: 2-3 cups tuna poke
    snack light string cheese
    dinner Greek yogurt
snack 1 cup ham cut up

my daily calorie intake is anywhere from 5-700 calories I try to walk everyday the only pain I have is by my rib cage in my left side and that comes and goes. I’ve lost 20 lbs since surgery and 34 since preop diet.

I had surgery April 27 and I’ve been doing well no complications so far. Anyways I’m feeling hungry a lot more now but of course I still can’t eat very big portions(2-3oz at a time) I’m getting my Proteins in and my Water. I absolutely HATE the soft food diet and can’t wait to have real food. Anyways is eating 2-3 oz about 5-6x a day ok? I see my team on Wednesday but I’m just curious what everyone else is doing/did.

If it makes you feel any better my good friend got surgery April 6 she has similar stats and she’s lost 24 lbs so far, and I had my surgery on April 27 and I’ve lost 14lbs since surgery. It took you a long time to gain the the weight and it’s gonna take a while for it to healthily come off. You are doing amazing! Your body is adjusting.

    Hello all,
Great reading your posts and thanks for responding to my questions.
So far, I only really have space for a snack maybe once in a while, like maybe 2 days a week. Those times are usually like once in the afternoon while I'm at work. I eat a cheese stick. I dont usually desire any Snacks in the evening at home. Most evenings, I'm too busy trying to finish up my Water goals for the day. Hahaha.
I get so distracted at work some days that I don't meet my water goal while at work. Its annoying because then at night I'm trying to make up which is hard and I stay up late sipping on water. It's a day by day process of trying to make sure I take care of me while at work and meet my intake goals while there. Need help with that.
I'm excited to share that I walk at work every single day! Usually around 30 minutes. I even walked twice Wednesday. Once during work and then at the end of the day for a few minutes. After work, I drove to an empty parking lot at work and did some speed walking laps around the lot for just 15 minutes. I don't speed walk during the work day because I don't want to get sweaty or anything like that and have to go back to work. I'm really digging walking now. Feel more energy to do it and the weather has been great. I think it's about me liking being outside and liking that I can walk without feeling tired most days now. That's progress for sure.
Tuesday I will be 6 weeks post-op and can move to normal food that's of course low cal, low sugar, low fat, low sodium, low carb, etc. So far, I have not cheated at all. No cravings so far. I do feel some hunger at times, but that's usually my fault because I'm past the due time for a Protein Shake or a 2.5 - 3 ounce meal which is still my capacity limit. I think Thursday I had some thoughts about wanting to eat out, but I squashed that. First, I can hardly eat any volume so eating out is wasteful, even if I take leftovers home. Second, I don't want to open a slippery slope of eating out once and then wanting to do it again and again and getting off track with my plan. I'm not willing to risk that so early in this process. I also don't want to introduce something that will trigger a craving. So, I got past that.
I still food prep. Man, since surgery, I have saved so much money on food. I used to spend a lot more on dining out and groceries. Now with only eating like a max of 3 ounces per meal and just drinking water the rest of the day, I save a ton of money. Protein Shakes and Vitamins are bigger expenses than food I guess.
I see my WLS Team in two more weeks for my 2 month follow up. I am meeting a friend for a weekend mountains getaway to Celebrate my two month surgerversary. He is the only person who knows that I had this surgery other than my medical team. We talk all the time about how it's going which helps. Since no one else knows, I don't get to talk with anyone else about my experience during this process.
I have one possible challenge coming up. My family is getting together for Memorial Day wknd. That's the weekend before my 2 month mark. That will be the first time that they will see me since my surgery. I live states away from my family so they don't see me all the time. Plus, with COVID the past year, we have gotten together less than usual for family gatherings which usually include siblings, parents, aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. So, a nice size group of people. My parents saw me Easter weekend which was the week before surgery. I had lost some weight pre-surgery, but I don't think they noticed. Now its noticable. So, I've created a couple options for responses to questions about my weight loss since I don't plan to disclose that I had WLS. And I have a plan for what to eat since the family is cooking out. I should be in the clear for a few months after that in regards to any other family gatherings.
I'm content with how I feel now and my progress. I do weigh on the scale, but I'm not overly focused on numbers. I noticed that a few of my summer dresses fit better. You can see weight loss in my face. So, I value the non-scale victories.
Sorry for the long post. I'm really glad to be a part of this community. It has been very helpful during this process.
Have a great Saturday everyone 🙂

I have Pcos and everyone in my family is morbidly obese. Knowing that no matter what fad diet I go on no matter how much effort I put into my diet I will never be at a healthy weight. The weight will just keep piling on. Because of the way my body was made and my PCOS. I am so glad to of gotten this tool to help me not only with my eating disorder but to help me lose weight and live a healthy life with my son.
