I had my surgery on the 14th as well and the gas pains in my chest are my only complaint. I'm wondering when they will stop, it seems like they haven't let up at all and its very painful

Congratulations! That's a great NSV, I can't wait to be a size 14, that's the size I always think about. My surgery date is December 14th I'm counting down the days

My surgery is December 14th too! I've been overweight my entire life, I remember in 2nd grade we were playing a game and my teacher made all of us step on the scale to see how much we weighed, I was 107 pounds in SECOND grade! I will never forget that moment, I think that's the first moment I realized I was different than everyone else, that's when I started to become really shy and self-conscious. We should all keep in touch and share our experiences together! I'm so excited for my surgery, less than a month away

I feel the same way! My surgery is set for December 14th and it feels like it will never get here. I've just been trying to keep busy to pass the time so I won't think about it, easier said than done lol.

Thank you for ur response! My surgery is scheduled for December 14th and you're right it does seem like forever, but its worth the wait I go in for my second appt with him on the 15th, then meet the nutritionist on the 21st, then have an appt with my PCP on the 28th so with all these appts I'm sure the time will fly by lol. I did have a question for him but of course forgot to ask while I was there was, when they place your band, do they fill it at all? Or is it empty until your first fill? I've seen both answers on this forum so I was just wondering what he does.

Good luck Amanda! Keep us posted!

Today was my consultation with the program coordinator and I couldn't be happier! I'm self-paying for the procedure, so they require no pre-op procedures. My surgeon will be Dr.Jeffrey Small, he is through Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown MD. My first appt with him is this thursday Nov. 3rd, my second appt with him is Nov. 15th. They do require surgical clearance from my PCP, which includes an EKG, I had one in May but the results are only good for six months. So she said if all goes well I should have the surgery in December! I'm so relieved, I've been waiting for this for a long time. I was very surprised to hear that they don't require a pre-op diet, but they do require you to stay in the hospital overnight. Kinda sucks but I'm guessing I'll be nauseous from hearing everyone elses stories so I won't want to do anything but sleep probably anyway. Plus my aunt works at the hospital and will be there to check on me So hopefully I'll be a December Bandster!

I am self-pay, and I have my first appt, self pay consultation, on Halloween. The appt is with the Weight Loss Center thru Meritus Medical Center, I see where they have 4 surgeons listed under providers. I haven't seen anyone on LBT list any of these doctors. I'm also keeping in mind that Meritus is fairly new and maybe that's why. The doctors are Dr. DiMarco, Dr. Small, Dr. Prashar, and Dr. Rosenberger. Has anyone had these doctors?

I have finally come to the decision after three years that I want to get the lap band surgery. I will be paying out of pocket. I made an appointment in Hagerstown MD at the weight loss clinic, my appt is Oct 31st. Because I am self pay this appt is a "self pay consultation" I'm wondering if this appt will just be for financing purposes or if we will also discuss the pre surgical requirements. The surgeon that I'm hoping for is Dr. Luciano DiMarco. Has anyone else had him and been paying out of pocket? What are the pre-surgical requirements? Thanks everyone for your input! I'm hoping this process goes quick and smooth, I'm so ready for a change!

Hi I'm from Martinsburg WV too. What doctor did you go to?

Hey everyone! I decided that I want to have lap band surgery and am in the process of finding a surgeon. I live in WV and am thinking about Dr.Eric Pinnar in VA, has anyone had him? What pre-op procedures were needed?
