Tell me I am not a total Wimp for taking pain med every 4 hours
You cannot rest, your body can't heal if you are in pain. Take the meds - you will find as days go by you will not need them as much. Then maybe only at night to be sure you rest and soon you will able to tough it out with the pinch and pull from the main incision. The rest of you will be fine. Have patience - it will all work out!

North Louisianians???
Glad to find this North LA thread on this great website. I am a new bandster - July 8th - so I am learning sooo much from reading all the replies. Still on liquids another week, then on to the good stuff! I know this time is all about the healing, so I trying to keep my eye on the prize ahead of me! We need to get this thread going with some more bandsters from our area. librarylady1 and heyliberrylady - I wonder if we are all in the same department at the local schoolhouse?

How to lose weight in full liquid stage?
Have patience!! Like someone said, we didn't get this way overnight! I have only been banded for one week and am still on liquids for one more week. It is challenging, but I look at it like I am laying the foundation for all the good stuff to happen. I want to heal and then worry about eating REAL food. Don't mess up things! You can do it.

First Fill 7/14 - but need a new scale?
Can't help you on info about a fill. I am a new bandster - only one week down, sooo, But I too would like to purchase a new scale. Any suggestions out there for a good accurate one???

What does this mean???
You are worrying TOO much! Make an appt. with your doctor and they will handle all of that for you. You probably have history with a few doctors that have documented these things - you just can't think of them right now. It might takea month or two for all the materials to be gathered, but it will be worth the time and effort. I am a new bandster! Only one week into it, but I am getting better everyday.

Protein Shakes
I need some suggestions on "tried and true tasting" protein shakes for my first 2 weeks of liquids after surgery July 8th. Could you give some name brands, where you buy them, how you mix them, and if they really taste good?

July 8th is my date!
Makes me feel good to know many more of you out there will be going through the same thing with me on July 8th! Excited for the day to come, but nervous too! We all know it will be for the best - the best decision we've ever made!

What exactly is PB/PBing?
As I read more on this website, I too am nervous "about all that!" I guess it is a matter of experience as you progress along after surgery. I want to hear about the person that doesn't slim or vomit or PB. Is that possible?

My concerns about telling people.
I just posted a question about the same thing! I don't have a problem telling my family - its coworkers, church people and others. It's like not a shameful thing having the surgery, but I am afraid of the negative reactions and horror stories they want to share with me. They do not understand about this "overweight" life I lead. It is a drastic decision, but one I have thought about for months. I know it will be a challenge, but I am ready!!

Concerns about telling
Anyone out there have concerns about telling your friends or coworkers you are getting or have had the lap band surgerY? I have told my immediate family who are in total support, but I am hesitant of others being negative towards my decision. They want to tell you horror stories and challenge your decision that you have thought about for months. Its like "why can't she just get on a diet? or quit eating!" They just do not understand.
