  1. To answer my own question, I just called my insurance company and was told that if it is billed under the main doctor i'm covered fully. But for some reason my doctor isn't in network. Weird. But I will be sure to tell the office to bill under other doctor. I hate dealing with insurance companies, if you don't do your leg work your SOL!
  2. Hello all. I also have United Health Care but was never asked to complete a 6 month diet history. I was required to do all class, psych eval. and 6 month weight history. Also I was never told what my financial responsibility was....they just said I was covered. So now I'm nervous and will call and check if i'm 100% covered.

    No Restriction Whatsoever

I have heard of people use the term sweet spot? Does that mean a comfortable fill? Good luck to you Sweety. I'm scheduled Aug 20th. 08 for my surgery and nerves have set in so I'm doing alot of research.

    new here from jersey

I went for my first appt. back in Nov. 2008 but was kind of bombarded with all the work that needed to be done prior to even submitting anything to my insurance. I decided to maybe try dieting once more and see what happens. By April of this year I realized that dieting alone for me is not enough and decided to go ahead with the meetings, psych evaluation etc. The hard part was waiting for paperwork to get back to there office and await a response. Now worry has set in and I'm nervous and excited all at the same time.

When I first went in for a consult I met with the co-ordinator Jessica, I did not meet a surgeon. I just found out a week ago who will be my surgeon I can't pronounce her name but I will be meeting her two weeks b4 surgery. I have heard very good things about there practice so feel pretty confident about the process. How far have you come?

My PB from H E double Hockey Stick

Gotcha....I understand what can happen if you don't chew properly. I'm trying to chew my foods slower to get some practice but find certain foods are harder to chew like macaroni pasta.....Would some people agree that some foods post more of a risk than others? Would anyone suggest to stay away from certain foods that have posed problems for them?
  8. Hello everyone....I am new to this forum and since I have officially scheduled my labband this morning for Aug. 20th I have had butterflies in my stomach. My question is about the fast b4 surgery....I know you have to do liquid diet and was told about Medifast or Isopure. Would you use this liquid diet as three meal replacements and do they actually make you full. I will need to do this for 3 weeks and am exremely worried that I can't do this for that long. How could I possibly not eat solid food for three weeks. I would love everyones ideas or own experiences.

My PB from H E double Hockey Stick

I guess there is good and bad things about reading posts. You hear all the positve and also the negatives. But i'm focusing on the positves because I will be no better off staying the way things are in the present. But just curious as to how it can get stuck? Do you mean close to the opening of your new stomach, once your food has traveled down your esophagus? Thanks for your speedy responds. This site is fantastic!

My PB from H E double Hockey Stick

This is all news to me and I'm getting worried. My surgery date is Aug 20th. And during our meeting I've been told about maybe coughing up food if you ate too quickly. But not getting stuck? What exactly happens and how did it get resolved? Do you make yourself throw up?

    NJ doctors

I have yet to have lap-band, my surgery date is Aug. 20, 2008. But I'm with Endo-Surgical Assoc. in Freehold, NJ. So far things have gone smoothly. I did a few classes they offered and my insurance accepted.

    Liquid Diet Prior To Surgery

I wish you the best of luck. I'm awaiting a packet from my surgeon and will see what final plan will be. The problem with my husband and myself is that we enjoy eating out as something to do. That is the first of our problems. I need to make eating just as important as getting out and moving around. Please let me know how your doing and any tips along the way will be great.

    Question: Liquid Diet Before Surgery

I'm not close to starting liquid diet yet...I'm scheduled for surgery on Aug. 20th 2008 and don't have to start liquid diet until July 30th. I'm already a little nervous cause I enjoy food alot "this is why I'm in this mess in the first place" and the biggest hurdle is that I'm a stay at home mom. How the hell am I going to do this for three weeks. I've been told after surgery it's not so bad because alot of time you don't have the desire to eat for the first few weeks. I'm sooooooo nervous.

    Liquid Diet Prior To Surgery

So you have had around 6 drinks a day plus snacks if needed? How big are these drinks? Have you had your procedure? Did you lose alot of weight on liquid diet?
