Ceradad, I take issue with the term "normal" people. Are large size people not normal? I hope you don't really feel that way as that would really be sad, Nancy.
-
You're right she was being ugly to you and I don't even remember what it was all about but a pre-op calling someone "fat" is the dumbest thing I think I've ever seen here and I've seen a lot!

Gloucester, That really sucks and I hope he can continue to get treatment elsewhere even if it is out-patient but I know dealing with these issues and getting family members to help is a real pain! So good luck to you and and try not to let it encompass your whole life, I've been there, done that myself, take care Nancy.:wink2:

lap bander wants gastric bypass ins. pay?
Nanook replied to brandyII's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
x-ray chic, good luck with your surgery, I believe I am done with any thoughts of revision for myself but everyone has to make up their own mind. As I said so far my daughter has been successful at weight loss due to her RNY but it hasn't been an easy road without potholes. Right now I'm focusing on not dieting and being healthy and we'll see if I can get my band removed sometime in the future. Take care and good luck with your surgery, Nancy (brandyII & Nanook) -
lap bander wants gastric bypass ins. pay?
Nanook replied to brandyII's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mert, Good luck, my daughter had the RNY the end of May of this year and since April she's lost over 100 lbs. It hasn't been easy though as she spent most of last week in the hospital due to a stricture of her stoma and needed it dilated and be pumped full of IVs because of the dehydration. I don't think I will revise as I've kind of lost faith in WLS, my personal thing, but read as much as you can on it because it's definitely a different ball game when you're talking about going from lap band to RNY. My daugher may have malabsorption on her side but she is very disciplined with what she eats which is not something she got from me. Well maybe I was too 30 years ago, LOL. Take care Nancy. -
Susan this job must give you an awful lot of headaches, I think you're doing a great job and thank you for continuing to do so Nancy.

Once again it was brought up that the "advice" given on this post and others tends to be a bit harsh and could be given in a more supportive way without sounding self serving. Maybe those of you who tend to give out "said" advice might be the ones better suited to do the ignoring, mmmmm.:mad2:

I don't think you want to get in trouble by the moderator but I hate seeing a person who has a problem and brings it up in a forum being attacked by a pack of hungry wolves! And I am not bitter I am Enlightened, thank you very much, Nancy:smile:

Deja vu!!!! I'm sorry I missed this thread but just read the six pages that it took to make a "few" people feel good about themselves by insulting you. Trust me I've gotten that "support" a few times myself here and know how it feels. Fortunately, they only represent a few here so please don't judge LBT by them. Normally you'd think they'd stick to the Rants and Raves section but I'm sure at times it gets a bit too boring and why you were probably pounced upon. Anywho, I understand your sleep apnea issues as I have it myself. Even with a CPAP machine, depending on the type, you can be awaken and not get the good quality sleep that your body really needs. You might want to discuss more with either your pulmonologist or your respiratory therapist. I know there is a forum called CPAPTALK.COM that I used to go to when I first got my machine and had lots of questions and "they're" very nice and supportive there. Are you using the machine faithfully or having a problem using it? I know a lot of people dislike certain types of masks but I swear once I got mine I was happy to sleep again it was wonderful and has been. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to set yourself up for the abuse again, I completely understand. Also people who lack a good quality sleep tend to eat more, take in calories to fend off their lack of energy or something. I don't remember exactly why but it's been documented. The exhaustion you feel is something I felt prior to getting my CPAP machine and I still have a few sleep issues but it's greatly been improved. So don't give up. Also make sure your Iron levels are good because anemia can also cause total exhaustion. Take care Nancy.:mad2:

I have a new theory, the more painful the surgery the better results, mine of course was pretty much pain free, lol, nanook. -
I'm not really sure myself. I see my surgeon this week to discuss it. I know when I was thinking about revision my insurance company said I was to go through my primary first just as I did when I got the lap band. I think you need to give more specifics about your situation and good luck and health, nanook.

Selling a book on LBT~allowed???
Nanook replied to BabyNicole's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
BabyNicole, If there are no takers here you might want to try ebay or something similar. I know they take a cut but just trying to help. Thought of another idea, if your bariatric center does lap bands maybe you could ask them if you could put it on their bulletin board or something similar. Nancy. -
Glad to hear you're feeling better Fanny, keep us posted. Nancy:smile:

Susan, We were a non-NASCAR family until I bought my DH a big screen for Valentines Day last year. Now it's GD NASCAR and Indie and whatever goes vroom vroom. My daughter is a "Jimmy Johnson" fan now so I got her some jammies at Wallymart. I like to see that Danika chick in the Indie when she gets pissed off and tries to beat up other drivers! Nancy

Selective memory strikes again! Well from what I recall I was a visitin a forum about DS trying to get info and saw a fellow bud from lapland making remarks about why did they think their surgery was so great....and naturally they attacked her, as they are prone to do and I said something to the effect of "she's just being a silly frog I don't know why she's here anyway..." in part to keep that person from getting attacked any further at obesityland as she was obviously taunting them. Selective memory strikes twice! I have plenty of pm's from a person who came to me for support and didn't seem to mind when I did give "said" support in more ways than one. I suppose it was a real mistake on my part trying to be a nice person and it won't happen again, trust me, Nancy. -
I think that would bother me more about the kids than with myself good luck and let me know how things go, Nancy.

Exactly Fanny!!!!! And Wasa, you don't know anything about me physically, emotionally, or mentally. People can takes bits and pieces of anything they want from prior posts but when it comes down to it I have had problems with my lap band and came to this forum seven months post-op to get some information and figure out what was wrong. And unfortunately you don't always get the proper back up with problems from your original surgical team once you've gone through the procedure and must be proactive and search elsewhere. Often you must involve a variety of doctors and in my case an endocrinologist who I couldn't even get to see until almost a year post-surgery as there seem to be only a handful of them in my location. If I had the proper treatment with an endocrinologist prior to surgery I never would have needed to be banded in the first place and I did not know this until I had the surgery. Anyway don't give me that BS that I had behavior problems with the band, it's just such a typical flippant remark that you people tend to dish out here. Just go over to Obsesityhelp.com and see how many people have revisions due to problems with the band and every single WLS out there! Do you have the band or have you had revision surgery? Have I judged you because you had a problem? No, so why so judgmental here, as I stated earlier people in glass houses........................Nancy -
My daughter is six feet and wears a 12, be glad you aren't a 12 as that's a whole new ballgame. Special order, plus she's a partial vegetarian and will not wear leather, it's not a fun day in shoe shop world! All I know is that I was a size 8 1/2 before children and supposedly you can go up a size with each child, I'm a 10 now and it's definitely the length of the foot as my width has not changed but I'm a barefoot person so they do tend to spread from what I hear. Nancy:smile:

I grew up Catholic and I suppose if the priest has training in that area that's good but I'd try to find someone just for yourself. It's not an easy thing and in my family and my husband's family I've seen many who have been in multiple marriages, 3 marriages so far is the top number and divorced after the third and it's more common than you'd think. It seems like unless you can get to where you're happy with yourself you may not choose the right person for yourself and keep repeating the same things that got you where your are in the first place. Plus as you know with this major change in your physical body comes changes in your head which is something that therapy might be beneficial for also. I may not be in the same place you are now but have dropped over 100 pounds twice in my life and gained it back and know how this has affected me mentally too. Good luck, Nancy.
-
Have you been in therapy by yourself to discuss these issues? It might help you with making the next step and getting in touch with the "you" part of the relationship and other relationships you've had and may have in the future. Good luck, I know it's painful, Nancy.

I read her posts there and here, I was there getting info actually and I really don't think she was there for that purpose do you really????? Come on:ohmy:. Anyway it's neither here nor there and it is here and there, they like to protect the surgery they had as well as people here who have been cracking jokes about them being smelly, gassy, shitting in their pants for many a page! I really don't care as I am not having the DS now neither do I plan too but you all are being very hypocritical and have a hard time seeing clearly IMHO, Nancy. PS I'm not here for a fight and am not protecting OH but it at least affords people a place to get information if they choose to get revision surgery and are not only plugging one type. It may get heated in certain rooms just like it gets heated here and trust me I know personally how heated it can get here and try not to take it as personally as I once had as it's not really not worth it! -

You have half a memory Froggi, remember the book I sent you from Amazon because you couldn't afford to buy one and remember how people treated you meanly here on many an occasion and I went in to stick up for you, you have half a memory, I supported you from the beginning, I did not insult you I was trying to get you to not be baiting those people there just for the shits and giggles and have you attacked by THEM! I've given up on you, wish you well on your journey but that is all I have left to give! Nancy.
