    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

If you haven't already checked those frozen meals for sodium levels, you might want to check that. I've seen many of them advertised as healthy but they have a ton of sodium. Just a thought. I use 2 ounce plastic containers from the Dollar Tree. I just fill them and leave them in the fridge since it's just for a few days. I have 4 ounce glass containers if I have bigger batches that I then break down into the 2 ounce containers. I'm still eating just over 2 ounces per meal so the small containers still work great for me. And they are easy to take out with me. Like I took a meat and veggie with me to the hair salon today since my appointment was during lunch. LoL. Ate lunch while sitting under the hair dryer, lol. Good luck!

There are lots of videos on YouTube with ideas for meal prepping after WLS. Maybe some will be helpful as you prepare. Good luck!

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Hello all, Great reading your posts and thanks for responding to my questions. So far, I only really have space for a snack maybe once in a while, like maybe 2 days a week. Those times are usually like once in the afternoon while I'm at work. I eat a cheese stick. I dont usually desire any snacks in the evening at home. Most evenings, I'm too busy trying to finish up my water goals for the day. Hahaha. I get so distracted at work some days that I don't meet my water goal while at work. Its annoying because then at night I'm trying to make up which is hard and I stay up late sipping on water. It's a day by day process of trying to make sure I take care of me while at work and meet my intake goals while there. Need help with that. I'm excited to share that I walk at work every single day! Usually around 30 minutes. I even walked twice Wednesday. Once during work and then at the end of the day for a few minutes. After work, I drove to an empty parking lot at work and did some speed walking laps around the lot for just 15 minutes. I don't speed walk during the work day because I don't want to get sweaty or anything like that and have to go back to work. I'm really digging walking now. Feel more energy to do it and the weather has been great. I think it's about me liking being outside and liking that I can walk without feeling tired most days now. That's progress for sure. Tuesday I will be 6 weeks post-op and can move to normal food that's of course low cal, low sugar, low fat, low sodium, low carb, etc. So far, I have not cheated at all. No cravings so far. I do feel some hunger at times, but that's usually my fault because I'm past the due time for a protein shake or a 2.5 - 3 ounce meal which is still my capacity limit. I think Thursday I had some thoughts about wanting to eat out, but I squashed that. First, I can hardly eat any volume so eating out is wasteful, even if I take leftovers home. Second, I don't want to open a slippery slope of eating out once and then wanting to do it again and again and getting off track with my plan. I'm not willing to risk that so early in this process. I also don't want to introduce something that will trigger a craving. So, I got past that. I still food prep. Man, since surgery, I have saved so much money on food. I used to spend a lot more on dining out and groceries. Now with only eating like a max of 3 ounces per meal and just drinking water the rest of the day, I save a ton of money. Protein shakes and vitamins are bigger expenses than food I guess. I see my WLS Team in two more weeks for my 2 month follow up. I am meeting a friend for a weekend mountains getaway to celebrate my two month surgerversary. He is the only person who knows that I had this surgery other than my medical team. We talk all the time about how it's going which helps. Since no one else knows, I don't get to talk with anyone else about my experience during this process. I have one possible challenge coming up. My family is getting together for Memorial Day wknd. That's the weekend before my 2 month mark. That will be the first time that they will see me since my surgery. I live states away from my family so they don't see me all the time. Plus, with COVID the past year, we have gotten together less than usual for family gatherings which usually include siblings, parents, aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. So, a nice size group of people. My parents saw me Easter weekend which was the week before surgery. I had lost some weight pre-surgery, but I don't think they noticed. Now its noticable. So, I've created a couple options for responses to questions about my weight loss since I don't plan to disclose that I had WLS. And I have a plan for what to eat since the family is cooking out. I should be in the clear for a few months after that in regards to any other family gatherings. I'm content with how I feel now and my progress. I do weigh on the scale, but I'm not overly focused on numbers. I noticed that a few of my summer dresses fit better. You can see weight loss in my face. So, I value the non-scale victories. Sorry for the long post. I'm really glad to be a part of this community. It has been very helpful during this process. Have a great Saturday everyone 🙂

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

For anyone who is 5 or 6 weeks post-op, how many ounces per meal are you eating? I am 5 weeks post-op and I'm eating around 2.5 - 3 ounces per meal sometimes. I think my body may need more as I approach the 6 week mark. Per my program, at 6 weeks we start eating 4 ounces of food and it's all foods, but only healthy ones of course. I still pay attention to when I start having hiccups which I use as my sign to stop eating. I dont want to mess up my still healing tummy or my weight loss progress so I am very conservative in food selection. I'm in Stage 3 of my food plan which is Soft Foods until next Tuesday which will be the 6 week mark. So, I'm curious about folks who are at the 5 or 6 week mark. How many ounces are you eating for lunch and dinner? How do you know that your pouch wants you to stop? Thanks!

Great. Will you both please let us know what your surgeons say about this sign of fullness. Thanks!

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Hahaha. Yes, sounds interesting doesnt it. Some people on this site have mentioned it as a sign of fullness for them also and in YouTube videos. I was in a virtual support group yesterday and one of the attendees reported that sign. The body is quite interesting.

For people who are on soft foods, how do you know that you are full? I still eat strictly my measurement. But, when I am getting close I have hiccups, hahahaha, which seems to be very common given a lot of the posts on this site about that. So, I take a break as soon as they start. They are kind of cute. They are really quiet and make me laugh, hahaha. I'm so scared of dumping, that I definitely respect the hiccup warning. Hahahaha. I have felt like I've eaten a little too much once and hmmm, do not want to feel that again. I immediately walked and kept myself vertical and busy which helped some. I also dont want to mess up my body's recovery. So, measuring is my best friend.

Hey there, Are you concerned because you are eating some foods that are off your plan or did you mean that you are no longer eating just soft foods?

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Yes, I have a bag of it. It might be unflavored, but as you found out, it's not tasteless, hahaha. I used it in chicken broth a lot during my first week right after surgery. Usually one full scoop was too much, so I used a half scoop. Will try this again tomorrow I suppose. I can mix it at home before leaving for work and sip on it during the drive to work to try to get in some protein first thing in the morning.

Congrats on your weight loss. I know it's hard, but I was just in a virtual support group meeting and the facilitator as well as group members who are a ways out, encouraged everyone to not compare themselves to one another. The nurse reminded us that we all have different bodies and they all respond differently. Also different starting weights and different healing processes. Again, congrats and I hope that you celebrate all that you have achieved.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Today is my one month anniversary. Overall, I've been doing ok. However, the past few days, my little tummy is not happy in the morning. I usually have 8 oz of water while I prepare for work so I can hydrate first thing in the morning. Then I have a protein shake when I first get to work so I can get that out of the way and start the day with a nice load of protein. But, now my tummy says that a protein shake is a no no first thing in the morning. An egg is a no no. Yogurt just doesnt do it for me. So, I've tried lunch for breakfast. That works ok. BUT, now I am also hungry in the morning or something is happening with my stomach. It feels like it wants more substance. I'm on the soft foods stage. Does anyone who is also in the soft foods stage have any recommendations for breakfast? If I don't drink the protein shake first thing in the morning, I also seem to get a little behind with protein for the day. Its hard to catch up once I get really busy with work. Any suggestions? My little tummy has been a happy camper so far. Just started getting pickier during the weekend. LoL.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Great question about walking. I'm curious about this as well. Week 1 of surgery, I was walking outside several times a day in little sports to help with gas pains. Usually around 1 hour a day. Week 2 I was around 45 mins to 1 hour a day. But, I was walking laps inside my home during Week 1 and 2 whenever I had gas pain. This included during the middle of the night, which was more frequently during Week 1. At Week 3, I was walking less for gas pain. Mostly walking to help with healing, energy, and overall recovery. I felt better after walking. I would walk around 30 mins to 45 minutes a day. Maybe over the course of 1 or 2 walks. There was one time that I did a one hour walk around a lake at the park near the end of Week 2. Week 3 on the brink of 4 (which I hit today), walking 30 minutes a day while at work. I'm just finishing lunch now. Tummy making some noises, lol. Getting ready to walk for around 20 minutes since I'm starting a little late. My commitment to myself is to walk at work every day for 20-30 minutes during a break. This will force me to take a break. How's folks who are 3 or 4 weeks out doing with walking? I know it's different for folks at Week 1 or 2.

Hi there, I dont have a dislike of water. It's the metallic taste that I have in my mouth that some people talk about during this process. It makes the water taste bad. I limit myself to one pack of crystal lite a day because I want straight water really for my weight loss. I will keep trying options. Just wish I can get rid of that metallic taste.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

During the weekend, my tummy started to act like it does not like Premier Protein Chocolate shakes (my favorite) or Crystal Lite Lemonade, another favorite l. Hmmm, on no. I need these both. They help me meet my goals. I'm going to take a break from PP Chocolate this weekend and see how it goes next weekend. Will try another CL flavor. I can only drink so much water without having a nasty metallic taste in my mouth. I try to get through 8 ounces of plan water. And then the next 8 will be CL. How do we get rid of the metallic/chemical taste?

Ok. Great. My fatigue now just comes in spells. Usually out of nowhere. I think it is sometimes linked to me needing more water. Good luck with increasing frequency of exercising.
