    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

I love roasted cauliflower! I like mine to get a little crunchy. I spray a little olive oil to it first and give them a toss. Then i sprinkle on seasonings. Mostly the same ones you mentioned. I like a little kick, so I use a Cajun seasoning also. Very good! Definitely prefer fresh over frozen.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Hello All, I'm back from the family gathering for the holiday weekend. The drive was 4.5 hours. Prior to this journey, I would have a bag of snacks in the car with me and would enjoy snacks along the way. This time I packed water, protein drinks, edamame, chicken, and Turkey and cheese roll ups. I made the drive alone which was great. I left early in the morning so I ate the turkey and cheese roll up for breakfast at the beginning of the drive. I drank water and a protein drink. I ate a little edamame as a snack. For lunch, I ate some chicken (2 ounces) and edamame. I chose options that are easy in the car. I wanted to eat lunch prior to sewing family because I wanted to have already eaten my food so I would not eat whatever they were eating. Man, as I drove down the highway, all I could see was fast food places one after another. My goodness. They really stood out. When I took an exit for the bathroom or to get has, it just hit me how much easy access people have to really bad options. I totally understand that when people are traveling, they may opt for fast food because they believe it's cheaper or saves time, but it really stood out. I rarely would eat fast food before surgery. Chicl-Fil-A or Zaxbys chicken are usually the only options I consider. I don't eat burgers. Now I don't consider those 2 places either because I don't eat fried food or grease. Just sharing about my observation and I guess a concern. There is just crazy easy access to food thats bad for us. I'm proud of myself for not being tempted when I drove past my favorite ice cream shop and when I walked into the gas station and did not buy a snack or sugary drink (juice or soda).

Chicken parmesan sounds good. I haven't introduced tomatoes yet or anything with a tomato base. I've been hesitant. Might try in a few weeks. But, chicken parmesan certainly sounds good.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

To me it tastes unpleasant. I threw out a container and one is still in the pantry. People talk about it on here a lot because it has more protein than broth and folks are trying to maximize protein or use as many sources as possible to hit their goals. But, I couldn't deal with the taste.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

I read on this site and heard in some YouTube videos that sometimes that happens to some people because of a change in hormones during fat loss. I'm not an expert on it by any means. But I did hear about that in some videos and on this website.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Hey April Sleevers, Everyone feeling ok about making it through the holiday weekend? I will be attending a family gathering where family will see me for the first time. I'm 7 weeks out so I've lost weight and can only eat 2.5 ounces of food. Sox I'm preparing to handle a few questions. I'm feeling confident about staying in plan. How about you all?

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Another non-scale victory that I realized last weekend is that I spend a lot LESS money on food. Man, food lasts me so much longer now since portions are tiny. I roasted two squash during the weekend and portioned them out into 2 ounce containers to take to work. Man, I will be eating on that for a week. I don't buy meals for dinner after work. I certainly don't buy lunch anymore since I take all my prepared food to work with me. Just lots of savings. Protein shakes are my new expense, lol. But. Still a fraction of what i spent on food prior to surgery. Anyone else notice and celebrate how much money you are no longer spending on food ?

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Hi April Sleevers, I had a fun victory moment during the weekend. I've lost weight, but had not really made any adjustments to the clothes that I was wearing. In many postings on this site, they encourage you not to spend much money on clothes during this process because, depending on how much weight you are loosing, you might have to keep replacing clothes. Im going through this process with a focus on improving my health versus racing for a reduction in my weight numbers. I had not really thought about clothes size changes much until I was looking for something in my closet and looked at "the other side" which is where I have tucked away smaller size clothes that I could no longer fit but was hopeful that one day I could wear again. Everyone has that section in your closet or drawers, right? Hahahaha. 😉Well, this weekend I perused that section in my closet and drawers and found some clothes that are one size smaller than my current size that fit nicely. I made a big pile and washed a couple loads of laundry. I reorganized my drawers and closet to include these one size smaller clothes that I can now include in my regular wardrobe. It felt very validating. They are all summer clothes so its perfect timing. And, it was nice to reminisce about earlier times with those clothes. And even better, I did not have to spend any money! 🤗 I have a few clothing items that are two sizes smaller. I just left them tucked away for later during this process. 🙂 Anyone else go shopping in your closets or drawers so far during this process? I'm at the 7 week mark.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Yes, that's what I was asking about. I'm not really sure that I want to take a stool softener every day. Do you have any idea how long you might have to take a stool softener every day to keep yourself regular? Again, I totally knew that BMs might be impacted, but I'm just wondering for how long. I can of course ask my surgeon as well. Just wondering since you take one daily to make you regular.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Sorry if this is TMI, but I still don't have BMs unless I use a supplement. I don't experience any pain, constipation, or stopped up feeling. So, honestly I kind of forget that I'm supposed to have a BM, lol. About twice a week I either take a vouple chocolate chewable Senokot or a cap of Miralax hidden in a glass of Crystal Lite. I'm a bit nervous about using assistance daily. I talked with my surgeon's nurse today, but totally forgot to ask her about this. Is anyone able to have a BM on their own or is everyone still taking something to help get things moving? And, how frequently are you taking something? I knew this would happen with surgery and the diet change so I was prepared mentally and physically for it. But, I'm just not sure how long it lasts. Thanks!

Yes, alarms! Good luck. I think protein helps us lose weight also.

Wow! Would maybe some solid protein help? Like 2 ounces of chicken breast if you can handle that at 5 weeks.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Oh, if you are skipping meals then it probably makes sense that you feel hunger at times versus it being a problem or you needing more calories. Like yesterday I hosted meetings at Noon and 1pm so lunch was late at 2pm and I could feel I was overdue. I wouldn't consider that a problem related to not eating enough calories. That's a problem related to me not staying on schedule. I knew I had those meetings and was supposed to eat around 11:30 so I wouldn't be eating lunch late, but I allowed myself to work through 11:30 instead of take care of myself by eating. Dont get discouraged. For me, I knew that I would have to work hard at making my intake a priority when I got back to busy life at work. Sounds like something you can work on also. I know when I feel hunger, it's because I'm off schedule. It's about me. Please dont let that trick you into thinking you need to go off plan. Good luck.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

I feel hungrier if I do not eat enough for a meal or eat early enough during the day. It does not take much at all to stop the hunger. I have not started counting calories yet. My food intake is so tiny. Like 3 ounces. Im at 6 weeks today. How many ounces are you eating at 6 weeks? Honestly, my hunger is usually a sign that I have not drank my protein shake yet. LoL. Or, that I have waited too late to eat my meal. I can only eat around 3 ounces per meal, but my body wants it, lol.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Morning, For those of you who have been medically cleared by your surgeons to workout in the gym, what exercises are you doing in the gym? How frequently do you go, which exercises, and for how much time? I walk for cardio 5 days a week for approx 30 mins during the day while at work. Sometimes its a little more and sometimes a little less. With my little calorie intake, that's good for me right now. But, I am concerned about muscle loss. So, I think I want to do some strength exercise and toning work. Any suggestions? Thanks!
