So in Feb ‘22 you will be 13 months post op.

i had my TT at 13 months post op too, but I was already at goal (well, technically below goal) at the time. Though I did schedule it months before (at 7 months post op)

i *think* any loose skin you encounter after the Tummy Tuck will be minimal (if at all) as i would assume you will be closer to goal by then? What did your surgeon say?

P.S. I’m 2 years post TT now and my tum is still lovely, lol. But my weight has been pretty stable since though…

Good luck, and can’t wait to see ur results (if u choose to share, that is)! ❤️

Wow nice work! I'm such a slow loser :(. My surgeon prefers that I'm within 10-15lbs of my goal because he anticipates that post skin removal and Lipo that will place me at or slightly below goal. I told him that's lofty considering my rate of weightloss but I'm intensifying my health and fitness plan to get as close as humanly possible.

Thats good to hear! I have a big head lol so my goal is higher than most at my height but its all good. I'm thinking by February I'll be 20-ish lbs away.

  2. Sooooo.

I'm around 70-ish lbs from my goal weight and I've already scheduled a Tummy Tuck and Lipo for February '22. I know it's early in my journey to do so (I'm only 9 months post-op). But, I can't stand the flapping and hanging.

I figure, since I haven't had kids yet, that any more loose skin I develop would be a great starting point for a pregnant belly a few years down the line (thats how it works right?? Like reinflating a balloon??). Or, this will just be my excuse to get a mini tummy tuck and an boob lift.

Anyone else have an "early" surgery? How did your results fare after losing more weight? Regrets?

  3. Hey guys! Checking in to say that if you've slid back into bad habits its never too late to turn it around! To be honest I deviated from the eating plan early on, and never really worked out, but ever since I've become a more mindful eater and have prioritized working out I feel like this whole journey is possible again. I want to reach my goal weight by February of next year so I really want to utilize this period of easy/more rapid weightloss to reach that goal and be a candidate for plastics.

Unfortunately, I started this process for completely vain and superficial reasons. While those reasons are still driving me to reach my goals I'm also motivated to see what my body can do. Things I'll be trying in the near future:

    Skateboarding

    Bike riding

    Swimming

    Surfing

    Muay Thai Boxing

    A handstand

    A cartwheel

    A split

    Powerlifting

    Long distance running

I'll be checking in more frequently too! Ciao

Thank you. It is definitely no infection and I can push the area around my stomach with no pain. I think the scab came off too fast and it wasn’t fully healed. That’s my fault because I was putting vaseline on it to heal quicker. I put a large bandage on it to protect it until it fully heals and that did help a lot with the pain. I’m sure in a couple of weeks it’ll be fine.

Aw. Try wearing a girdle too! It'll help keep pressure on it and prevent your stomach from pulling on the incision too much!

  5. I mean always reach out to your surgery team blah blah blah etc etc lol, but I had a similar pain on one incision. I called and told them my symptoms (similar to yours) and the key things were that it wasn't discolored, hot to the touch, or draining any Fluid, from that they determined that it was the last remnants of my stitches's pinching me and if it didn't go away in a week to come in. I had the pain for a ~1.5-2 weeks at that point and by the end of the second week/begining of the third it went away!

But ooooooh sitting, bending, and turning were a doozy.

  6. UPDATE:

🥳MY STALL HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY BROKEN!!! 🥳

I miraculously lost 3 pounds over the course of three days and the ounces are on a steady decline as well (so far no regain).

    Things that changed:

I had a sudden uptick in activity this week and walked a combined 10 hours (NYC baaaaby).

I upped my Protein (though hardly at goal of 64 grams).

I ate considerably more food at regular times.

    and...

    I didn't weigh myself until today 😁.

I hope anyone else stalling right now is able to break it soon! It's been 2-ish weeks for me and while not fun it made me focus on my nutrition/lifestyle rather than weightloss.

This is basically me right now I had surgery 2/22/21 and at 347 got down to 327 then jumped up to 331 in between that time I was stalling it’s very annoying but I’ll stay on program and keep hope

I had my surgery on the same date and am currently experiencing the same thing :( I've been all but stalled for 2 weeks. Hopefully, it lets up for us soon. I'm working on being more active.

  8. My insurance pretty much gave me this surgery for free with no catch (i.e. no minimum weightloss, or comorbidities necessary), and I'm relatively young so I barely needed any tests. BUT it still took me 6 months, probably due to COVID, but also every department related to Bariatrics is honestly so antiquated. I've been through the process in NY and Boston and it's always been 5-6 months.

  9. If the spice is from an acidic source (vinegar/lime) I would avoid it. But, if you're using literal spices that's totally fine! My surgery was on 2/22 and most dishes I've eaten have some form of spice. My tastes sway more Asian so I usually add homemade chili oil to wonton Soup broth, togarashi to ramen broth, gochujang or gochujaru to vegetable/mushroom broth. The only time I didn't have spice was last week because I had some stomach pain, but it turned out to be a pinched stitch, so no biggie!

  10. I'm 24 (F) with no comorbidities and I went RNY because my sister had VSG 3 ish years ago and her weightloss has all but stalled. Also, I have 130-ish lbs to lose. Many factors played into this choice. I factored in my work (academia aka student for life i.e. sedentary M-F) and lifestyle (mostly active on weekends), and we decided that the RNY would be the best tool for me.

I'm only 3.5 weeks out so I can't offer an educated opinion on my choice (especially during a stall), but if you have a lower BMI then I would say VSG is much more accommodating and still quite effective. However, there aren't as many long term studies on VSG so 7-10 years out is no man's land.

Sorry that this is apparently not what you want, but...

If I ate/drank even close to half of what I was supposed to the first 2-3 weeks it would have been a miracle.

Now, as you say, is the stage you simply have to get through the best way you can.

Give yourself the credit you deserve.

Rereading my post I sound pretty angry, and I was lol! I was angry at myself for not measuring up. Thank you for this.

  12. 13 days out from surgery 10 lbs down...

    I haven't been eating.

    Eating is a hassle.

When I do eat I either give up or don't eat the right thing. I don't put me or my staples in danger of course. I'm just not meeting Protein requirements in the slightest.

I'm writing this post because I know there are a lot of other who feel like they've just been getting it wrong since Week 1 of surgery, and I just want to say that its never too late to turn it around. This isn't like all the other times!

I'm not looking for motivation, encouragement, a lecture or anything else. I'm just calling myself out for bad behaviour because I'm a big know-it-all who is miserable, tired, and losing hair.

I'm re-commiting myself to toughing it out this week and the coming weeks because I've been on this forum long enough to know that it all passes.

Hi MissSmartyPants. I had my surgery 2 days after you and I had similar concerns. I have not yet felt any restriction with liquids. I can drink just like pre-op and not feel a thing. I told my doc and he said “that’s great!!” He said I’ll feel it when I transition to puréed foods. He also said I can move on to non Clear Liquids this weekend. I’m only down 6 post op lbs so it sounds like we are twinning it! Btw we are also the same height.

Hey! Have you prepped any recipes for purees? I prepped avocado and Beans , gave it a taste tonight and OOF they hit me like a rock. Literally felt like a chainsaw was being ripped through me. And, this is 1/8 teaspoon through sieve. Maybe those just don't agree right now?

That's a shame because I'm vegan and was looking forward to relying on those savory staples. Hopefully tofu doesn't do we wrong!

I look forward on following your progress since our stats are so close!

  14. Little update! I'm on week 2 and doing full liquids. I'm down 24 pounds altogether, 7 of which are post-op. However, I noticed within the last couple of days that the weightloss has stalled and I've been hovering between 286-287. I've been losing and Seems pretty early for a stall right? I've been losing and regaining the same 1 pound which is annoying. I'm going to up my Protein and get moving more!

Also, very odd but I have this creeping feeling that my surgery wasn't as... aggressive, compared to others. I can drink tons of Water (in sips of course) no problem. It's probably all in my head, but I'll keep with the plan regardless.

Yes!! I had them quite frequently in the beginning, and I still do after two years. In my dreams I'm eating huge amounts of "forbidden" foods (usually cake and cookies), and I'm fully aware that I shouldn't be doing so. Unlike you, I don't try to undo the damage with a Protein Shake.

Oh no! I hate vivid dreams, they leave me with such longing. I know my food tolerances will be different so I hope my fear of dumping will override my cravings.

Kinda reminds me of the time I started dreaming about bread of all things. About four months post op I started having vivid dreams about bread. Sandwiches, toast, cinnamon bread, etc. I told my nutritionist about it and she thought it was hilarious! 😂 Then she told me low carb bread would be fine to add to my diet and I tried some low carb wheat bread (not knowing at this point that I have a wheat allergy) and I DUMPED! I felt like I was dying it was so bad! 😭 My bariatric surgeon had told me you didn't dump with my surgery and I complained so loudly at my 6 month check up for that. They said it was weird and asked me what my symptoms were and I told them it was the WORST nausea of my LIFE (and I had brain surgery, for reference), diarrhea, stomach cramps, sweating, shaking, dizzyness, lightheadedness, etc. and they were like: 'yeah that's classic symptoms of dumping syndrome, but that shouldn't have happened'. So they did an allergy test for wheat and it came back positive. How a food allergy mimics dumping syndrome, I don't even know... Anyway, I was so scarred by the incident that I actually had bread that I haven't had it since. On one hand I miss it, but hey, wheat is in like almost EVERYTHING and it gets annoying when you look at labels and see wheat on it and then I can't eat it... why do they friggin' use wheat flour in so many things?! 😡

Anyway, yeah, it's normal. Hilarious and weird, but normal to have vivid food dreams.

Wow what a crazy way to find out! Are our food dreams prophetic? Gotta crack the mystery lol

  17. I'm 5 days post-op and in too much pain to be hungry, but last night I had the most vivid food dream. I was at a vacant apartment but on a table in the apartment was a sandwich I used to make with all of the fixings. Needless to say I ate the entire thing. But, I was post-op in my dream too so I panicked and raced to the store to buy a Protein Shake?

It was apparently Christmas time so I bought an Isopure advent calendar because my dream logic said to counteract the effects of junk food I need to chase it with Protein? Then the dream ended with me opening each day to reveal a new flavor of protein shake. calculating-puzzled.gif
