    "Head Hunger"

So I'm angry because I was told that I wouldn't be actually hungry for months. Nearly 5 weeks out and my stomach starts gnawing at me. Not head hunger, I was happily working away at my desk and suddenly I'm getting very impolite signals from my abdomen. WTF is that about? I was looking forward to ignoring food for months. I mean, obviously eating at appropriate times for protein and whatnot, and I'm betrayed by my own stomach. And to make matters worse, I've stalled. Scale no budge and I'm following the sample diet plan food/portion sizes. I can't be the only one, right? I worry that I just took a bunch of time off work and spent thousands of $$ to lose 25 pounds.

    PreOp telling the fam

I'm a month out and none of my family knows outside of my husband and son. Only a few friends and co-workers know. I regard it as none of anyone's business and my mother will just take it personally as failed parenting (I'm 48) and I refuse to coddle my mother's neuroses anymore. She's great, but she takes any failure of mine as a reflection of her failure to be a better parent.
  3. I was in line at work for a 1st/2nd shot that would have put dose #2 1 day before surgery and my surgeon suggested I schedule my shots so that #2 was at least a week post op. The reason being you want to be able to discern between the 2nd Covid vax fever/chills/headache from any surgical complications. Fortunately for me the medical facility I work in is large enough and has enough vaccine clinics that I was able to do mine 1 week before and 2 weeks after.

    Post op tiredness

I'm 4 weeks post op and still find myself taking a daily nap. I wasn't really a napping kind of person before unless I was low on sleep, not it seems like I need a nap regardless of how well I've slept. Hope this wears off soon. I mean, I was probably napping 3-4 times a day for the first couple of weeks, so I guess 1 nap per day is an improvement.
  5. I've had tuna, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, yogurt, and cream of wheat. I don't find anything appealing to eat even when I'm hungry. Are there any savory food choices to make this phase bearable?
  6. A friend of mine told me to try making parmesan chips by melting/baking blobs of shredded parmesan. You could maybe try those as chips for guacamole at a slightly later date.
  7. What I really want is a curry. I was idly wondering if I could eat the inside of a somosa last night. I wondered if I could puree a chicken tikka masala, or if the sauce would be too rich? Does really spicy hurt the tender new stomach? I guess I'll have to ask the nutritionist.
