    Tv shows

Sarahv, how do you d/l bones from the internet? there's just too many links and things to find out this stuff on my own lol I would love to do that - we can get the DDR system but don't use the digital package it comes with so it's a waste of money for us. We bought this great Pioneer dvd recorder, but certain dvd's won't record and sometimes we can't record while watching tv so I gave up lol If I can stay up past Lost, I get up at 4am alot of times, we watch 10pm news and go to sleep at 10:20 after the weather and sports of course lol

    April 2006 Bandits

Welcome Back Indababy. Glad they could repair your hernia during surgery - wonder if that has any affect on if you do better with the band or have less gas etc ? I would leave the cadbury egg as a treat when you can eat solids, hmmm or is the center not a solid ?? lol I have seen this and posted it in other sections. Don't deprive yourself of things you want, just eat moderate portions of what you want (or so I have seen from some very successful bandsters here) if You feel like you are dieting, then you are apt to cheat. Can't wait to see how well this works - reverse psychology always worked well with my kids lol happy healing

    Question about pee color (sorry)

So if you drink 80+ ounces of water a day and you still have dark colored urine, does that signify a problem? Also, I am always asked this question, is your urine also so dark? hmmm isn't a doctor or nurse supposed to KNOW that? Clarity of the urine is something also - finding out all kinds of stuff from my Urologist since I have been going.
  7. My husband and I are both self employed, and I work for him. We have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. To my understanding, you cannot be denied insurance if it is under a company policy for any reason (check with the new ins co first) I think each state has different rules governed by the ins commssioner. I was told this is the reason most small group policies have higher premiums. I was also told by 2 different ins carriers here that if you are 30% over your healthy weight - they can deny you coverage if you try and get a personal policy. We are much like you - stuck with having to have a group plan so I can have insurance coverage. I do not know on the policies if you have been banded, but I don't see why a personal policy won't cover you if you are in your healthy weight range and then apply for it. I will be finding out too if I can be switched over to a regular personal plan after I lose enough weight, so keep me updated on your insurance situation. Good Luck:)

    more questions banding on 4/27

Danielle, thanks so much for that - it eases my mind some, except for the maniac driving part lol Did they do anything since you told them you had medicine? I have read this both ways - tell them you have meds and don't tell them <shrugs> so I am unsure. Does Dr Ortiz or his mom discuss this? Grats! and glad it went well for you and your friend.

    Central Florida Lapbandsters?

Wow I haven't seen anyone post about living in FL for awhile. I was starting to wonder how many FL people we had. I live NE of Tampa. We have year passes to Disney and stay in Kissimmee, usually once or twice a month depending on the weather. I was supposed to be banded on April 21st, but they found something on my kidney so I had to reschedule - Now Scheduled in Mexico Dr. Ortiz on May 26th. Can't wait to join everyone who has been banded. Good luck and so far Ive heard great results from the April Bandsters

    Dr. Grossbard self pay

Thanks for the info  going to check out your dr. Tricia. Do you know if you have to have pre-op visits or and how many or do they tell you that in the site? I set aside $15,000 for surgery. I have been planing on Dr. Ortiz since his reputation is good and nice price at $8,500, but would rather be closer to home just in case.

    Waiting for the lap band

Welcome - if you have anything you want to look up, go to the search button at the top and do a search. I found it very useful at the beginning; its just quirky sometimes with search terms.

    Waiting for a date.

Welcome Kim, this is a great place and has a wealth of information. The before/after pictures are awesome and inspiring; brings hope to those of us just researching, starting to look and on the road to bandery. Good luck

    What a great place

Debra does your insurance pay for the surgery? I live in FL and thought my ins paid for it and found out after a month that it did not. Mexico has been the cheapest by far for prices I found. We refinanced our home took out the cash to pay for the surgery and future surgery costs (fills flights etc) Even though I live in FL I figured Mexico might be nice to have a short stay of vacation and a new experience. Im paying $8,500 by Dr. Ortiz and $350 per ticket for flights.

    Does it really work?

Congratulations Tina! I chose Dr. Ortiz also. I researched about 3-6 months and have read he is great. How are you feeling with your surgery so close? I can't wait till May 26th to join you - let us know how it goes

    Pre-Band: Starting to Panick

I agree with JS, eat your favorite food, just small portions. I read on another thread that was someone's success to losing. If you feel like you're dieting then you're more apt to cheat - understandable. But eat healthy tood I'm still thinking over the liquid diet thing that some have to go through for a month before surgery  not sure I could do that. A modified liquid diet is hard enough.

    May 9 date!!

Brodydog, depends on your insurance company and your doctor. Also, if you are self pay - your date is alot sooner. I found that out trying for 6 weeks through insurance then got a date for surgery in 2 weeks when I did self pay.

    New to this forum ...

Welcome and grats Pat on your remission. My mother has it also (along with breast cancer) What a great thing for you to do for yourself to look into the band. I will never understand about insurance decisions for things that will ultimately help patients. Good luck on your journey
