Im always sorry to hear things like this. With my first marrige my husband was insecure with himself and when I lost weight, it was a sign to him that things were shaky and our marriage lasted only a few months after that. I think it depends solely on the 2 people involved in the relationship. My husband now is welcoming each and every day that I am losing weight and other than a couple of glitches is ok with me losing more weight. He says whatever makes me happy he is ok with.
-
That sounds wonderful, Im sure my husband would love it and get more use out of it than me. more like begging me to massage his back with it lol do you have a website ?
-
wow! Betje what an accomplishment to lose 61 pounds. I hope I do as well as you have so far. Keep going and change your routine in some way. If you don't drink enough Water, drink more - try exercise or break up your exercise routine. Also, on another thread - I saw someone stop exercising for a week when they hit a plateau (sp).

lol that is so cute, bet the grandkids love that. I can see my husband doing that someday, he does stuff similar to our 3 & 5 yr olds now

Ok stupid question, but what does an elliptical machine do and what does it work, is it worth the money? I have a crosstrainer something or other Treadmill, but want to add something to my routine. Im going to look it up now but someone who has one might know more than a description can tell me. Thanks -

TheWomanWithin replied to fiveholts714's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Has anyone had success and losing all their weight they wanted to lose and still drank with meals? -

Glad to know I am not the only one who has problems with the protein shakes, they make my stomach like that also. Glad Dr. Ortiz only requires 1 week pre-op diet, but I have been doing them 1 month and finally getting used to them and my stomach is quietening down abit. Hope you feel better

Congratulations on making that decision. Read read read and research - best to be informed about it before you go into surgery. TONS of useful info in here thats for sure - you just have to search for the right thread <up top in the search option> Every day I learn new things and find useful tidbits of information. Good Luck

A LOVE STORY: only you guys will truly understand.
TheWomanWithin replied to lins12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also met my husband online, but only as friends. Several months later - 2 or 3 get togethers that 60-70 of us friends used to have and we started dating. We dated a year and got married with almost 100 online/IRL friends. Been together 8 years and married 7 years. -
I know there used to be liquid Vitamins when my oldest kids were small, do they still make those? That would be a big help if they did IF you can stand the smell of them. Anyone tried them?
-
Congrats Elisabeth great progress so far, hopefully all of us future bandsters can do as well early on.
-
Hey Sarah How are the one a day weight smart vitamins going?
-
MelAnne, looks like from responses this drug is a not a thing to do. There was something on another thread - still can't remember the name of it that someone was trying - maybe make a thread and ask about it?

Paula where I have personally attacked you? Send me a pm if I have done so, or copy and paste the sentence - post etc. If I had truely "attacked" you then I certainly would have responded in a very different manner in my posts. Point out where I have "attacked" anyone verbally??? even when I was verbally attacked, I did not respond in any manner which was innappropriate. However, I can say, if I was to be offended (notice that word - I used upset in the first post to Paula - there's a difference) it would be 3loves last post and StrawartS. Which I replied to and I assume that can be construed as attacking? If so, they need to be told by mods also that is not allowed on this board? If someone sees I have attacked anyone or acted innapropriately, have Alex or a mod contact me PM me and discuss it. The last post by me this morning was a response to 3loves and was address to her at the top for that specific reason, responding to her quotes and what she said to me. The last thing I will say because Alexandra asked earlier not to say anything else, is this: Don't generalize about situations. The post I had a problem with. i.e. the problem with our buttons being gone/delete thread situation that the newbie's has caused the problem or that it was NO big deal. Think of it this way: How would we all feel if someone said all overweight people are lazy? or that All overweight people overeat? its the same thing - a generalization to a pointed group of people that absolutely is not true. There will be nothing else said by me on this matter - pm me if you still have a problem. And to think all this started because I stood up for what Kat was saying and all of us "newbies" who were getting blamed.

Snide and rude comments were directed towards me, not Paula's last post but previous post in VQ thread and another thread. You need to read my post directed at Paula You are the one reading too much into this, I only posted ONE LINE to Paula.. Paula seems like a dear person, but like Pnut said, someone took something she said as snotty and I do not think that of her. Refer to the above post BLAMING us "newbies" who questioned things in the other thread by VQ. explain this - I asked questions, gave other options about threads etc, got trampled because I asked questions, then got blamed for asking questions - if Not ask Paula what "newbies" she was referring to? hmm Kat and I were the ones who asked questions and after tha Again see her last 2 posts in this thread. I would call this a misinterpretations of the words that were written, show me where I "attacked" Paula, she posted blaming the (2) "newbies" who made a "big deal out of the threads being gone and then apologized for adding fuel to this thread. Hmmm how is that me attacking HER? lol . Maybe you need to take your own advise? Refer to TBM (thebestme) post in the VQ thread of deleting big threads. I in no way misunderstood what Paula had to say - it is there in plain english for all of us to read and see and not delete LOL LBT humor here. I in no way attacked or tore her character down by telling her that her last post upset me because she specifically blames "newbies" (her words not mine) for the demise of the edit/delete button. The courage of Integrity The highest courage is to dare to be yourself in the face of adversity. Choosing right over wrong, ethics over convenience, and truth over popularity...these are the choices that measure your life. Travel the path of integrity without looking back, for there is never a wrong time to do the right thing. On the other hand, there are others who let emotions rule their thoughts and decisions as well as posts. It is very easy to sit behind a computer, write what you want to say without thought and reason and then 3 hours or 3 days later be over it and have to apologize or be embarrassed about what you have said (refer to 3 or 4 other posts in these 3 lines of threads) I spoke what I had to say and did not and will not apologize for what I have said.

Thanks all, wasn't sure about this stuff - my friend hasn't had any problems and I just wanted to try it for one month before my surgery, unless my surgery date is rescheduled again. Im in a vicious cycle - eating right and exercising. Exercising makes me starve - to lose weight before my banding I have to exercise and around and around I go lol I am losing but could lose more if I weren't so hungry. I saw on another thread that exercise is an appetite suppresant for some, not for me. I drink 80+ ounces of Water daily, no sugar stuff and 50-60 carbs only.

wow how can someone who is new here NOT take this personally. I was one of those who thought it was a big deal on the other thread. you need to step back and look at both threads with messages directed toward us "newbies". I am not the one who apologized for my last post, Paula was and I was agreeing that it was making it seem like us "newbies" are the scapegoat's for ALLL of this boards problems - the ones of us who asked questions. If she didn't see anything wrong with her post then she would not have apologized for the tone of it, but then I don't know her, Ive only read what she had written. If you are going to let your emotions rule what you have to say and write things like that directed towards ONE group of a certain people i.e. "newbies" then back it up. Read both threads and see yourself in one our shoes - not knowing alot of people here. We are trying to ask questions about something valuable, get beat down for it and then get blamed so to speak for this problem that has gone on for alot longer than we "newbies" have been here. I do not have a problem with Paula, she did not attack me personally - I just told her I took offense at her post, end of story.

My Barium swallow pics, does this look like a slip?
TheWomanWithin replied to pati-o's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I saw this thread earlier and I have a question. After a very serious allergic reaction to Barium Sulfate suspension (banana flavored) on Thursday evening, I emailed Dr. Ortiz' office and asked if this was the same thing as what is used for surgery and fills. They told me that it was a different barium and was very very watered down and you only had to drink about 1/3 a cup of it. Is this what most had to do and is the stuff they give you very watered down? -
MaryB are you sure your grandmother wasn't on Ambien? j/k that reminded me of the Ambien thread :heh:
-
Patlong, how long were you on them? I don't think for 1 month that there would be any long term effects - I read they are supposed to be used for no more than 8-12 weeks. Can the side-efects you speak of be for long term use or short term also? With any type of medication, prescription or otherwise there are risks and side effects. I always try to do research to begin with, and then make an informed decision. Im in a vicious cycle - eating right and exercising but exercising makes me starve - to lose weight before my banding I have to exercise and around and around I go lol Thanks for the info

Do you drink with your meals?
TheWomanWithin replied to fiveholts714's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This has been a great concern of mine since I started researching. I did see another thread of the stats of the members here - things like do you drink with meals, so you exercise etc. and it did not seem to be a big factor about drinking with meals...maybe I read it wrong? I drink with each and every meal I have, I drink about 80+ ounces of Water daily <floats away> anyone else drink this much pre-banding but after being banded not drink with their meals? this part of the process scares me. -
Nahhhh I try not to take things personally, but the tone was one of us "newbies" made a BIG deal about it and started questioning things AND now we have to change things? Hmmm if we have questions, aren't we supposed to ask them? how else do we find the answers if we do not inquire about it? I was told that it was ONLY us "newbies" that even cared if the thread was gone - a few replies from people who have been here longer has shown otherwise. As I stated in other posts, there was some very valuable information in the threads that we deleted, but was told to basically get over it??? Wow what a reception that is for new members....
