  1. I’ve experienced a few times where I need to rush to the bathroom after eating. It was very obvious last night it was due to eating a small amount of nonfat (but w/sugar) frozen yogurt. I guess I thought dumping syndrome was super painful? My experience is not painful but it does involve the need to immediately go to the bathroom. Is that one type of dumping syndrome?

    Is it dumping syndrome if?

Thank you- I’m making note of all the things that make me sick and the list is getting longer!

    Is it dumping syndrome if?

Oh I’m sorry... I am having an issue with foamies. Today I ate tuna and I think it was too dry and didn’t go down well. Half hour later I drank water and boom- sick. I swear, every day I’m learning something new and it’s not always pleasant.

    Is it dumping syndrome if?

I’m thankful for every little thing these days! It may be painful for me if the amount was more so I need to be careful. Thank you
  6. Everything changes - but you’ve got to learn along the way... you simply won’t be able to eat that much, so it makes it easy however our brains remain the same so I recommend starting therapy as soon as possible! My surgery was 6 weeks ago - it’s not easy but it will be worth it.

    Dreaded STALL

The day of my 3 week post surgery date I hit a stall that’s latest a week so far. Do you promise it will break? I am still haunted by my dieting days when I’d stall and then throw in the towel. I know it’s different now - I just wish this didn’t happen so quickly in the process.

    Newbie & 1st stall

I’m in a stall too- very discouraging!
  9. Because I’ve been a yo yo dieter for so long I wasn’t willing to mess around with diets again- you can do it either way but maybe it depends on your history with weight?

4 days post op and I’M STARVING!!!

I was hungry the entire liquid stage- I felt like I didn’t even have surgery! It made sense when the nurse said it’s because liquid just goes straight through without filling your stomach. As soon as I started soft solids - snap- I’m full and not hungry!
  11. Ok, now hear me out. I had a little yogurt and two bites of chicken breast last night for dinner and never felt the stuffed feeling or even full feeling. I’m three weeks out from surgery. About 10 minutes later I noticed the calcium chew samples that I will need to start in a few days so I thought I’d test one. The minute I ate it I ran to the bathroom thinking I had to throw up but instead experienced the dreaded foamie thing for two hours. What did I do wrong? It’s not blatantly obvious to me because I didn’t overeat at dinner. I never want to experience that again- I’m sure I will, but if there is an obvious reason PLEASE share!
  12. 2 pounds up this morning on the 3 week anniversary of surgery. No change in diet of course... I heard about a dreaded stall, but weight gain? And how long did your stall last?

3 week post op weight gain

Such an intelligent and thoughtful comment - thank you. And as far as childhoods go, I’ve told my story a few times with therapists but I found a new therapist who specializes in food disorders. We started last week and not only am I telling my story yet again- but this time with my earliest memories of food. It will be very interesting! Thanks again.

    Eggs & Beans 😀

Thank you so much. Someone needs to write a book because post surgery is a crazy experience! Why just two teaspoons for you of food? Did you get the message you were full? I’ll slow down my eating after reading this post!

    Eggs & Beans 😀

Thank you so much. I didn’t expect my experiences to be across the board or different than others. Boy was I wrong!

    Coffee

I can’t make sense of the differing opinions between surgeons- maybe if an individual had a particular condition there have to be exceptions. I just want my coffee! 😉
