  1. Cool - thanks for your input! Good things for people to bring up with their surgeon.....
  2. Deb - thank you so much for sharing all of this information. I think it looks like we all can use the continued support, and so far this site seems great for that. It's been an amazing tool to me already (for research), and I don't even have the band yet! :blushing: GOOD LUCK and be sure to let us know how it goes for you.....
  3. Oh yeah - what helped sway your decision in that direction (if you don't mind answering)... I'm digging like crazy for info :blushing:
  4. Hi - I'm just wondering if there are any ladies out there that have (or had) PCOS/Insulin Resistance prior to having the band surgery, and how your weight loss has progressed since having the band. I don't know about any of you - but every diet and exercise program (or lifestyle change) I've tried either doesn't work, works VERY slowly, or my weight piles back on extremely quickly the minute I fall of track. Do you find that the same is true since having band surgery - or has it truly been the tool you needed to change your life? I'm just tired and completely disheartened by the constant uphill battle with PCOS/IR and hope I'm making the right decision to get this surgery.....
  5. THANK YOU FOR ASKING THIS QUESTION! I have been going back and forth as well as it seems like the Realize band is growing in popularity - however, I feel like there is something to the multiple "ballooning" shape of the Lap Band. I think it looks like it would be better accomodating to the shape of the stomach.... on the hand, more "balloons" might mean a greater chance for erosion?!? I just don't know! Let me know what you end up going with, and what your surgeon said about the choice if you don't mind. GOOD LUCK!
  6. Hello! I haven't had my band yet, but from everything I've read it sounds like your band is possibly too tight (too much fill). I'm sure you're doctor will be able to tell you (as will some of the others on here that have already had their bands) - so you made the best choice to call your doctors so quickly. Good luck and hope you feel better!
  7. Hey Blueangel - let me know how your consultation goes on Friday. I went to the seminar for Cincinnati Weight Loss Center tonight, and will go to one for Dr. Curry on the 25th.... I was happy with the seminar at CWLC tonight, but feel it's wise to attend at least one other seminar to compare...
  8. Hello all! I have done research on the procedure itself (lap band), and am now beginning to do research on the surgeons/facilities in the Cincinnati, Ohio area that perform the lap band procedure. For all of you that have had this done - please let me know who you recommend!!! Also, if it makes any difference, I plan to pay out of pocket. I've already performed the hoops my insurance requires - but I guess not recently enough for them (and this is not something I want to have to wait another 6 months for). Thank you! Lori
  9. Thanks for the information Eric. May I ask what was the deciding factor for you in choosing CWLC over Dr. Curry's practice? So far those are the two that have come up the most in my search, so I'm just curious....
