  1. It is weird that we both saw the same show!!!! I appreciate the advice. I never knew that by talking to people like I have been doing thru this thread could help sooo much. But it really does help. It is like everyone here is really in touch with the emotions and are having the same struggles that I am. It has shown me that I am not the only one going thru this. Thanks for listening.

  2. Thanks Heather!!! I am their with you. It is a struggle. I have not realized until the last week how I have used food as a crutch and an emotional healer. I have gone to food for comfort instead of family and friends. I come from a family that you do not show tears in front of people, you shead your tears in private and suck it up and move on.

This has really been a learning experience for me. I appreciate everyone listening to me! THANKS!

  3. The test was done in the docotrs office while I was awake. They had me to drink a solution that tasted like really strong lemonade and put a clothes pen on my nose and then I breathed into a tube for so many minutes. It was not to hard, but I am a mouth breather so it was kind of hard for me.

  4. Hello,

I completed my consultation 3 weeks ago, that cost $300 up front and then my insurance will reimburse me. I have cariten. My insurance requires that I do a 6 month doctor approve diet which I am doing now. With my consult he did blood work, and a breathing test that checks for H-pylori which is a bacteria that if you have can cause stomach problems and is detected thru your breathing, go figure.

I was negetive, but if you are positive you will be started on meds.

  5. Did you send the letter to Cigna or did you doctor? I know that my surgeon told me that after I did my 6 month required insurance diet, that they would send a letter to my insurance company. They told me of the requirements of the insurance company that was going to have to meet and that I had the 6 months to do it.

  6. Well, I have been to my consultation with my surgeon. It was my first meeting with him. I had the meeting about 3 weeks ago, and I have started on my 6 month 1200 calorie diet. The first 2 weeks went really well. This last week I have struggled some. I have only eaten 2 meals on a couple of days and not had my Snacks and have been hungry. I have gotten frustrated and cried. A couple of times I have wanted to just say the heck with it and give up. I know that I can't give up but it is so frustrating. This has been the first time in a month or so that I have been back to the blogs. I have needed the support of this forum, so I have come back. As I write this I realize what a journey this weight loss program is going to be. I am going to make mistakes, I am human. However, in the same breath, I down myself for not being perfect. I am wanting to have lap band, and my surgeon is suggesting gastric by-pass because of the amount of weight I have to lose. He has told me to think about it, that I have 6 months to do that. I have also, just got thru watching a program on TV about a guy who weighed over 1,000 pounds and went on a diet and lost down to just over 800 pounds and took him about 1 year to lose it. There was also, a lady that was over 500 pounds and decieded on gastric bypass. In 6 weeks she lost 75 pounds. I have a lot to think about. I appreciate everyone listening to me blow off some steam!!!!!

  7. Hey Milady, hang in thier, you are doing great!!!!! I am sure you are feeling overwhelmed and all other kinds of emotion, which is normal!!!! Has the doc said anything about you being able to go for walks or anything of that nature? Maybe the exercise will help with weight loss and help ease the stress for you some? Hang in their, you are doing great!!!!!!!! Lisa

  8. I have not been banded yet, I am just begining the process. I know about those demins!! I hate them too. I wish their was some kind of surgery that could be done on the brain to get rid of those ugly demons. That is one of the things that I am afraid of. I know at one of the seminars that I have been to suggested that I continue going to the shrink to help with things like that! Maybe it might help with you? Just a suggestion!!!!!!!! I will pray for you!!!!

  9. Hello Liz,

I sounds like you are doing great! I still have a way to go before I get to surgery. I have been to 2 different seminars at 2 different hospitals, with 2 different doctors. I have decided on which MD I would like, and have just completed some paper work for them. I have an appointment with my pcp on July 1 so that she can write a letter for my insurance saying that I medically need this surgery. It is hard to believe the hoops you have to jump thru to get to your point Liz. I am proud of you!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!

  10. Hello,

I am from East TN. I have not been banded yet either, I am in the very, very begining stages. I have gone to 2 different seminars. One at Parkwest Hospital in Koxville,TN and listened to a Dr. Boyce and his team last week. And just this past thursday I went to Johnson City Medical Hospital to listen to the staff with Dr. Hodges and Dr.Watson.

I am leaning more toward Dr. Boyce and his group in Knoxville.

I have an appointment on July 1 with my primary doctor to get together my referal letter to the surgern and insurance.

Anyhow, those to groups are the only ones I know of and they were refered to me by a local surgeon where I live. He leans more toward Knoxville.

    Hope this helps!

  11. I just went to an orientation last night, and I encountered the same thing. I wasn't to crazy about it either. However, I went to another hospital last week, and the doctor was their, as well as the entire team, from the doctor to insurance person, to the exercise specialist etc. The only person not their was the shrink. I was really impressed.
