  1. They got us in FAST. I think it was because we were self-pay. I called a couple of weeks ago just to ask questions and hung up 30 minutes later with all my appointments and a surgery date. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get your date soon! :cursing: Have you done the pre-op education meeting yet? They give you packets and a sample of your anti-nausea meds and all sorts of info there. It was really helpful. For the pre-op diet you have two choices. The first is a 2 week, low-carb diet. No breads, Pasta, fried stuff, fruit, etc. Lots of meat. OR, you can do the 1 week liquid diet. We chose the low-carb because we figured we'd get enough of liquids afterwards! All of that is explained in detail at the pre-op edu meeting and in the packet they give you. I haven't gone to the support group meetings. I have to work Tuesday nights. I AM going to try to make the first one after my surgery, which I think is August 12th? I'll be off all that week. Please feel free to message me if there's anything else you'd like to know or if you want to talk more in detail!
  2. Hi there! I'm from Ft. Worth and am being banded by Dr. Ferrera's associate, Dr. Smith on August 7th! My fiance is being banded that day as well.
  3. I like August All-Stars too!
  4. I am so glad I found this particular forum. I have about 227lbs to lose and I was hoping I wasn't the only one. Everyone who has posted is a real inspiration. And MANY congrats!!

    Brand New Here

My self pay cost is $15,000. That includes pre-op appointments, the surgery and all things included in that, and a year of follow-ups and fills. We're having it out-patient though, which may be why it's less than some. I suppose staying overnight adds quite a bit. Best of luck to you!
  6. Hello all! I've been lurking around a bit for the past few weeks. I didn't want to join before I got the good news! Today Dr. Smith here in Ft. Worth agreed to do our Lap Band! :biggrin2: We actually were able to get all our appointments out of the way today. Surgeon, psych, dietitian, and pre-op education! August 7th is the big date for both of us! We're self pay, so they got us in really quick. I couldn't be more thrilled and I think he is too, but he's trying to be macho about it! We both have a lot of weight to lose...over 200lbs a piece. Are there many here who have lost that much or are on their way? I'm actually more nervous about the after-skin than the actual procedure...I just Googled my way to terrified by looking up pictures. My goal is to lose enough weight to look beautiful in a wedding dress. We've been engaged for a year and a half and the weight is what has made me keep putting it off. Anyway, just thought I'd say hi! Hope everyone is doing well!

    Hello from Texas!

Thank you both for the warm welcomes! I'll definitely look at the TTapp program. 92 lbs in 6 months is amazing! Congrats! And I agree about the skin issue. I'd rather be HEALTHY with excess skin than stay this weight and be unhealthy. I just have a way of Googling and discovering the worse case scenarios on any subject and getting nervous! It's a bad, bad habit! Haha!
  8. I'm being banded August 7th! Exactly a week before my birthday! Talk about a good present. Starting July 24th I have to go on a low carb diet. I think that will be the hardest for me. I'm totally a bread and potatoes kinda gal!
