Any 45+ year old women on here with gastric bypass experience?
Am 52 and this past October I am at the three years surgiversary RNY .Yes, it can be a little of a roller coaster compared to when I was younger because of menopause and slower metabolism, but it’s doable. I find I have to cut the carbs a lot and I have stalls my lowest was 175 but i am still in the 80s . I lift a lot of weight so a few extra pounds I noticed when I start lifting weights like five pounds if I stop for a few days I noticed I weigh less . The temptation is always with certain foods once I eat them I dump or have heart burn so I don’t touch some foods but it’s a challenge and hard work nothing is easy about this journey

Any 45+ year old women on here with gastric bypass experience?
Hi am 52 years old had gastric bypass October 19,2018. Am almost three years out and the best decision I ever made no regrets . My heights to was 350 am now 184 pounds but i exercise and lift weight . I am happy to say I have a tool to work with because losing weight on my own I couldn’t do it I have disc problems and thyroid issues but now they remove the thyroid issues so am left with the back issues but I still keep active . I can always adjust my tool and lose more weight but I stick to fruits , vegetables , protein which Include protein shake and smoothies and my weight remains the same even through the pandemic

Nice congrats vsgchick you have done well. Nice to know after 6 years you are doing well. Keep up the good work. I will surely follow the tips you give. Keep up the good work . I do weigh myself daily too in the past I found that if I didn't I tend to not stay on track so if I go up I know what exactly I ate. I also work out at lest 3-5 times per week kind of slow down because they keep closing down the gyms but I started to do from home. It is so cold to walk outside sometimes but hopefully we will get over this rough patch soon. Thanks again. Do you have a name for the veteran WLS site?

New issues two years out
I am 2 years 2 months, I used top have stomach pains with some food my doctor did a scope and found no ulcer this was about 18months out but the did prescribe prevacid fast tabs which I melted under my tongue . Since then I haven't felt anything. I do keep them on hand prescribed my family doctor just in case I need them . Also, am in my early 50s after surgery the hot flashes started never felt them so bad until after surgery. I had one period after surgery and then nothing more. Guess the surgery change my body earlier than I had expected . Hope this helps but get it check out

11/17 gastric bypass support buddies?
I had mines in October, 2018 going pretty good so far am 8 pounds from my goal I lost 155 pounds so far. I surpassed what they told me I was going to lose, but I have my own personal goals. I think the pandemic and the gyms closing on and off sure put a damper on everything now . I am missing the gym its cold and I love to workout so am doing from home just not the same but still hanging on. Keep up the good work.

Weight regain...I don't know where to start.
I was looking for this forum I just joined today. I am 2 years 2 months post gastric bypass . I only had regain like for 2 to 5 pounds and that is where I was not accountable like hanging with people who introduce the foods to me and I was tempted to indulge so most times I remind myself why I did this surgery and remove myself from the situation and get back on tract. Since the pandemic I haven't gain any weight because I am vigilant with my food I do a lot of exercise like waking and work out with a trainer but now we close down again so I do from home. I find that dairy especially yogurt cause the scale not to move. Getting in my water, protein and vitamins really help me so much. I find that snacking doesn't help at all the scale goes up when I snack. Also I will try to do the no meat and see if it will help me to. You are so right nutrition plays a big role in this journey. Keep working hard at the regain it will go. Good luck

2 years out RNY
Hi am 2 years 2 months post gastric bypass and so far very successful I lost 155 pounds. Is there anyone who is over two years? If so how do you find it . Also any suggestions or tips . I work out so much but now that they close the gyms again it is a struggle and also outside is cold so this makes it challenging. I so work inside my apartment but not the same like going to the gyms I feel like working out in the cold am not really sweating so am not losing. All about motivation and being around people who will support you on this journey . Keep up this forum it is very good.
