You aren’t allowed any food? I thought I had it bad with just two cups of green veggies a day. But it worth it, think about hot girl summer for once in our lives 😁On 12/13/2020 at 16:58, mawmaw65 said: -
I have to drink 4 optifasts a day... and only 2 cups of green veggies! It’s pretty bland. I’ve lost 12 pounds since Dec.3rd... quite surprisedOn 12/13/2020 at 16:39, mawmaw65 said:

Have you tried eating celery, it’s got mega crunch and is tasty! One stalk goes a long way. I wanted to let you know how I am feeling, very much the same as you, I feel starved sometimes. But if I tune into my body, I’m not really hungry, I just miss chewing. Important to drink all your shakes, I am supposed to have 4 of them a day, I usually make them with Decaf coffee and make them huge so they fill me.On 11/26/2020 at 14:27, blackgirlmagicrnybypass said:
My surgeon wants me to lose 9 more pounds by the 16th. My fiancé suggested that I continue juicing to lose the pounds, but all juicing does is make me hungrier. Any suggestions on how I can get down those 9 pounds?

How much weight have you lost?On 12/08/2020 at 08:45, sach1 said:
Hi.
I'm 19 days post WLS today and on my pureed diet period.
I feel hungry and eat 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks a day, in small portions of course.
Count the calories of every meal and snack.< /p>
Between 700-900 kcal a day.
I feel guilty after eating. Think I must starve to loose more weight. Have constant feeling that I'm not going to loose anymore weight. Putting on instead.
I'm 176cm tall and current weight is 280lbs.
Anyone else going through same situation and how do you deal with it?

A pumpkin Protein Shake does sound delicious though! I keep telling myself I’m not really missing out, because it’s the same thing every year and I can get it again next yearOn 12/09/2020 at 19:12, bufbills said:
Just tough through it, and look forward to next year. Thats how I handled Thanksgiving. It was tough, AND, I had to carve the turkey. I then returned to my pumpkin pie flavored Protein Shake. Lol.

I did weigh myself, only down .3 today, but still down. I’ve also lost 9lbs since starting my shakes. I think it’s the Water weight. On 12/10/2020 at 11:41, Xicanaqtvsg said:
I'll have to try it. My last dinner attempt was a fail so I ended up eating some air-fried Brussel sprouts with balsamic glaze. Have you weighed yourself today? It's a week out from our surgery. I lost 9 lbs so far.

I microwaved the vegetables in the Water and then used a hand blender to “purée” them, then put them through a cheese cloth (paper towel works well too) to take extra moisture out. From there they were easy to form (keep some moisture in so they form) and put them in a pan with Pam, salt for flavour... not too bad. Plus it kept me busy instead of thinking of other foodOn 12/09/2020 at 16:17, Xicanaqtvsg said:Xicanaqtvsg reacted to this -
That’s a good idea! Bring the Protein shake... I can’t wait for it to happen lolOn 12/09/2020 at 15:56, GradyCat said:
You won't feel hungry, so you won't be tempted by holiday fare. That's GOOD NEWS! Stay hydrated and if you do any socializing, take a Protein Drink with you to have to sip on.

That’s why I am so happy I got scheduled before the holidays, because it meant I could have extra time off. I just spoke to my mom and she said she will freeze some of the fish from Xmas eve so i can enjoy it when I can eat solids again. She’s a sweet angelOn 12/09/2020 at 11:30, ChubRub said:
I had my surgery on 12/18 last year. The holidays were a breeze b/c I wasn't hungry at all. I felt full after drinking 2 ounces of Water, so there was nothing tempting about holiday food or sweets.
I didn't tell anyone about my surgery (other than my husband), so when I was with extended family on Christmas Eve, I just told my mom I had a sinus infection and headache, in case she wondered why I wasn't eating anything.
I really feel like having my surgery right before the holidays was perfect timing for me, plus I had the extra time off work to recover.

My surgery schedule for Dec 17th, a week before Christmas. I know I’ll be on nothing but liquids during this stage, and I’m really hoping I can be satisfied with my fluids only. Any tricks on avoiding desires/temptations during the holidays?

That’s a lot to lose, I am scared I’m not going to lose any weight. So far I’ve lost 6 pounds since starting my shakes...I’m surprised by thatOn 12/08/2020 at 19:12, rlmontgomery said:

Happy Monday! I have my surgery scheduled for December 17th. I'm currently on my 5th day of the pre-op diet. It's made me realize how so many things we do on a daily basis revolve around food. However, feeling good and actually have more energy & focus.

Hi there,
I am really close to my date also 12/17, and there are somethings you shared in the post that were told to me as "no-no's" First off, you should only be consuming Clear Liquids, (i.e broth, Water, Decaf coffee) and only eat two cups of the following vegetables (see below). You want to ensure that your body stays in a ketosis state so that before you have surgery your liver is at its smallest state (ketosis is a fat burning process) having a smaller liver will make it easier for the surgeon to operate since your stomach is very close to your liver. Secondly, I think that you should definitely arrange for a ride or at least take a taxi/Uber home after surgery, best to be safe. Do you have anyone staying with you after the surgery? I hope you will be okay and understand the professionals recommend this sort of thing because they know what will make it the easiest process for you afterwards (this is not for them) .Like you, I am finding it hard to be on the liquid diet, and I come from an Italian home...today I ate spinach while they all had plates of homemade Pasta. And when I came home I had 1 cup of chicken broth while my boyfriend ate a bag of perogies.
All this to say I understand how are you feeling and I hope this does not come off as harsh, but you need to follow the guidelines provided for you so that you have the best possible results for you!

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that! I am sending big hugs! Think about how much you have already accomplished and keep that getting you through til you get your next date. Who knows, maybe if you keep up this lifestyle you might not even need the surgery. ~Positive Vibes~
