  1. In the hospital i was given a morphine drip and when i was ready to go home they were going to give me percs or vics, but I get nausea off of them so I went home with liquid tyenol with codeine in it. Nothing to exciting. Good Luck..I am only 2 days out!
  2. Hey Shelly you are not too too far from me. i am in Rhode Island!

  4. Congrats on feeling better...I wish I had a quicker transition to mushies. I have to wait until Sept 3rd....blah! Thank you for being an inspiration.:Banane37:
  5. thanks sooo much!!! I am on this liquid diet until sept 3rd when I go to the doctors to put me on mushies!:Banane37:
  6. I also went to applebees 2 times while I was on my pre-op diet. It is good to trick your body once or twice and enjoy something a little bit fatter. I lost over 10lbs on it and twice I ate the oriental grilled chicken salad with dressing on the side, honey bbq boneless wings and once I got shooter and was naughty! All the other times I did my shakes!
  7. My pre-op diet was for 2 weeks. I followed it the best I could and I lost over 10lbs, but if i went out to dinner with my mom i didn't deprive myself. Just made a wise choice. I was told my surgery was very boring and only 45 minutes long. My liver was in a great condition.
  8. Well I was banded on Monday, and I dont have any hunger pains. I drink my Protein shakes and Water because I know I have to, but I dont feel the fullness either. Is this normal? Anyone else experience this? does it go away and return back to normal?
  9. Hey everyone! How long does it take for the bloating to calm down. I look pregnant....hehehe.... That stinks they shipped some of yous home that quickly! They asked me if I wanted to stay another night...One was enough...The whole team of doctors kept checking on me every hour to see if there was anything I needed. I just got tynenol with codiene. I just woke up from a nap with it. I had to drive my son to my moms because he was out of control today!
  10. I have blue cross blue shield of massachusetts. I was approved in less then a week by the insurance. I was really shocked it was that fast. They dont submit anything to the insurance company for surgery until you have met all the other requirements first.
  11. good luck everyone! Welcome to bandland:biggrin:
  12. My doctor told me the tightness in my chest was from my diaphragm (sp?) since it sits right next to your liver and stomach and might have been pushed or slightly bruised. but who knows.
  13. You sound right on track. I had the same basic pre-op diet and lost 10lbs before I went in and My doctor told me my case was very boring...aka....it only took 45 minutes and my liver was in perfect condition. My starting weight was similar to yours at 246. Good luck with your journey into bandland
  14. My best item is what I didnt buy. In the hospital they gave me an oval firm pillow that I hug when I am getting up out of bed and when I move in bed and it helps on car rides. It really does help with the pain and stretching feeling. Hope this helps. I also used hot pad on my shoulder pain and it went away. I dont have that any more and I have been banded for 2 days now. I bought gas x strips and only took them once. Good Luck with your Journey into bandland...:crying:
  15. I was also banded on the 11th and didn't expect this pain at all. I stayed over night in the hospital hooked up to a morphin drip which was nice and the nurse kept telling me to press the button more and more and that is what it is there for. I am heading to the pharmacy now to fill my scripts for pain...Thank good. I couldn't sleep at all last night so hopefully tonight is better Heather
  16. Thanks soo much! I feel a hundred times better, but still soar obviously. My son is destroying the house and I have no motivation to stop him since my mom is sick and cannot watch him. I am trying to get enough energy together to go to target to fill my scripts. Hopefully soon enough. I had trouble sleepign last night. I had to go to the bathroom every hour..Hopefully tonight will be a lot better! I am not tired right now.
  17. Good Morning! I had my first doctors appointment on June 17th and I was just banded on August 11th. Every where is different and depends on your insurance that you have too. Good Luck!!!
  18. I am officially banded and feel sooo bloated and soar! I was give all kinds of prescription when I got home but since I just got home the pharmacy closes at 9pm sooo I have to wait for the morning time. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!
  19. Thanks soooo much!!!! I am superexcited. I got a phone call on friday and they changed my surgery time from 330pm to 130pm. I am getting nervous right now! I feel that I still have tons more to do but I dont and I cannot wait!!!!
  20. It is a personal matter you need to choose for yourself. I started off with a bmi in the mid 40s, and I didn't know what to do either. I chose the lapband since you do loose the weight slowly and because it is only a restrictive process. The bypass is also a malasorbtion process. I also didn't want the new piping of my insides. Only you can make that decision. It might be worth it to push off your surgery if you are still up in the air.
  21. Welcome! This forum is really great for getting information! I will be banded on Monday August 11th and I cannot wait! Good Luck on your journey!
  22. I didn't weigh myself since last monday so I am down 6.4lbs since then until today! 3 more days until the band!
  23. Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it...I cannot be believe in 3 days I will be on the other side!!!! I am super excited. Just not looking forward to being on a liquid diet until Sept 3rd when I go back to the doctors for a check up! My reward is that I am going to Las Vegas at the end of sept!
  24. Thanks so much! My doctor never mentioned gas pains at all!
  25. I am being banded in 4 days! I cannot wait. I am going on my last shopping trip this weekend so I don't have to be running around afterwards. Is there anything that you guys would recommend I pick up? Thanks in advanced!!!
