  1. I had gastric sleeve on nov 23/2020 and my legs have been numb and hurting for like 3 weeks, and my balance is so off it made me fall two times today. I did go and see my surgeon this week and he gave me a lot of Vitamins and it’s kinda working but my legs still hurt when I walk for like 10 or 20 minutes and plus during those minutes I might fall or one of my legs will just give up and make me trip.

Sounds like you need to get a different doctor. I’m sorry you’re going through this, I hope you can find someone who listens. I thought you had to be at least 18 before you could get surgery?

Thank you for caring. in my country they do weight loss surgeries starting from 12 years old.

  3. I Had my sleeve surgery on nov 23 2020 and I have GERD. my doctor doesn’t understand what I’m going through. He only told me to take gaviscon which didn’t help at all because every time I take it I throw it up in like half an hour. the reason why he doesn’t understand me it’s because I’m only 17 and he thinks I’m overreacting. It’s been 2 months now and my GERD is not getting any better. i throw up almost anything I eat or drink everyday. I used to be on Nexium 40 2x a day but it turns out I’m allergic to one of the ingredients. I really need help because it came to the point where I literally fast everyday.

I'm 6 weeks out and am eating apples, mangoes, all kinds of berries, kiwis, and bananas. I haven't had any issues. These are allowed on my plan though so it's possible it's different for other people.

Great to see a fellow middle eastern in this website! also I will try some kiwis and see if I can tolerate them like you did.

Have you progressed to 'normal foods' yet? Does your post op food plan provide guidelines for when going to normal foods? If so, are these fruits on it? Last question what surgery did you have?

If you had a bypass the natural sugars may be too much for you at this time?? Regardless of which surgery I wonder if at this point (six weeks out) whether pineapple may be a bit too fibrous?

I had gastric sleeve surgery, and yes I am allowed to have normal foods again but I was just wondering if I can eat raw fruits again since I’ve been only drinking fruit smoothies. They didn’t give me a food plan for normal foods.

  6. Update. I may have developed acid reflux. I went to my surgeon two days ago and he didn’t understand me. he said “it’s okay it happens to everyone”. I went home and I was so sad because I had horrible nausea that didn’t want to go away. I was unable to drink or eat. yesterday was even more horrible I cried from the pain I was going through. everytime I try to swallow any medicine I was given I start to have nausea and just vomit spit because at this point my stomach was just empty. I woke up today with a sore throat. Took my nausea medicine and I’m currently trying to finish a container of Greek yogurt. I’m supposed to start my solid foods stage next week and I’m currently on soft foods stage and the only soft thing I ate was freaking scrambled eggs and that’s all. my mom at this point doesn’t understand me. she had gastric bypass 7 years ago and told me that it happened to her and I have to stop complaining about it.

Hi I’m Jori and I’m only 17 years old. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on nov 23 this year and on December 23 I complete 1 month after my surgery. my problem is that I can’t eat 3 meals in one day and I can’t drink 48oz of Water in a day. I get dizzy each time I get out of bed or when I normally get up from my couch and I hate it. I only drink 990 ml of Water a day and the only thing I eat is fat free Greek yogurt in a day just one box. my weight before the surgery was 115kgs and now it’s 99kgs. My mother told me it’s crazy how I lost 16kgs in one month and told me that I have to lose weight slower, I do go for walks 4 times a week and when I rest my body hurts me and I feel really sick out of nowhere. I told my mom to schedule my first appointment with my Nut and I’m so scared of what she’s going to say to me. I just know that she’s going to be disappointed in me because the way I’m treating myself, and yes I know what I’m doing is wrong but I really need help from you guys to tell me what to do and what not to do.

hello. Unfortunately it’s been so hard for me. yesterday I woke up with something annoying in my throat it made me feel sick. I went to the hospital and they told me that there’s nothing wrong with me and I may have slept on my neck in a weird position. today I woke up with the same annoying lump in my throat but it’s worst. I gave up on trying to know what it is. couldn’t drink enough water because it was annoying me when I swallow anything. I went to the mall today with my mom and almost passed out in the store because I didn’t eat anything because of the annoying lump in my throat. went to a nearby cafe and ate two bites of something I wasn’t allowed to eat during the soft foods stage that I’m currently on. It made me feel a little better, then I asked for green tea and waited 25 minuets so I can drink it and thank god I felt so much better. Afterwards I finally found something I can eat and it was mushroom Soup. I drinked 8 spoons of mushroom soup and felt good for an hour and a half and when I went home everything was horrible. I almost passed out again but thankfully I layed on my bed as soon as possible, and now I’ve been lying on my bed for an hour and almost a half and I’m currently rethinking my life choices. maybe this surgery wasn’t for me at all.

being dizzy when you get up is common after surgery - or at least during the first few weeks or months. It's often due to changes in blood pressure - but in your case, it could also be due to dehydration or weakness from not eating. So try to drink/eat what your clinic is telling you to, even if you're not hungry or thirsty. And if it's blood pressure-related, try to get up from a sitting or lying down position more slowly.

Thank you for helping me, and yes I think its because of me not eating enough food and also because of dehydration. I will try my best to keep hydrated and try and eat enough food in one day. I will keep you updated 😊💛

    Hello, Jori!

990ml isn't too bad to start out with, but really try to get in more so you don't become (if you're not already) dehydrated. Try room temperature, a little colder, and ice cold... see which you tolerate best. In the VERY beginning, I could only tolerate absolutely ice cold Water, otherwise I would get terrible hiccups. That has changed and I can have all temperatures now with no problems.

You definitely need more Protein than what you're getting from one container of FF Greek yogurt, though. Have you tried Protein Shakes (that would help get in more liquid as well!) or adding some unflavored Protein Powder to your yogurt?

If walking is really bothering you, I would maybe suggest holding off on that for now, until you are getting in more calories per day.

I don't think your weight loss in the first month is *too* extreme for having had the surgery. It will slow down :)

All the best to you, and keep us posted!

Thank you so much for helping me, and yes I haven’t tried Protein Powder but I will try to buy some and see if I can tolerate it. 10 minutes ago my mom forced me to eat a small banana and thank goodness I felt so much better after eating it 😊, again thank you for helping me!
