  2. I haven't posted my weight the last couple of weeks.:bananadoggywow: I hated to post a gain!! But now I am back down to what I was the last time I posted my weight:p .

    H-304

    C-293 -11 total

The good news is that my insurance approved the surgery!! I immediately called the Dr.'s office to see what happens next and they told me the nurse will have to call me to set up my next appt. I haven't had the psychological done yet so maybe that's next. I'M SOO EXCITED!!

  3. Count me in on the May challenge! I don't think I have even posted my weight for the last 2 weeks...it's been bad. I'm still waiting for the insurance to go through and hoping that I can be banded by the end of May. The longer the insurance takes the more I worry about getting it done by then. I have to work summer school the 2nd week in June and was wanting to be healed up by then. I'm having trouble loosing the 15 or so lbs. the Dr. wants me to loose by surgery. I think I will try a liquid diet for a few days and see if that gets me started. Next week I am going on vacation to Orlando. The good thing is I will be getting my exercise - for sure. The bad thing is the food. Course I eat out all the time at home so it couldn't be much worse!! :rolleyes Do ya think??:dance:Maybe I'll start dancing... that would be a fun way to exercise!

  4. Are you getting all your fluids in? You might call your Dr. if you are. If you're not drinking enough you could be dehydrated and you might want to step it up some. Good luck! I can't wait until I get banded! :)

  5. I understand the eating thing completely!!:help: I will do good for a few days and the scale (yes, I weigh every day) looks like it is going down and when WHAM I could eat the a$$ out of dead rhino...Nothing is enough. Or I will do well during the day and then at night, I am starving! I am waiting till the Dr. hears from my insurance co., then I have the phychological done and set up the day to be banded. It already seems like a long time and the Dr. office didn't get my test results back and ready to go to insurance until last week. I have no idea how long it will take for them to get back to the Dr. In the mean time, I am suppose to be losing 15 to 30 lbs before surgery. I keep going up and down the same 5 lbs over and over. Another of my problems is the way I work. I have 2 jobs and I wind up taking something to my evening job to eat. It is too late to eat at 9:30 when I get home, and too early before I go in, at 4:30. I usually get a salad to take on nights I work, but that gets old. Then I wonder what I will eat after the band. I usually take a Lean Cusine to school for lunch but they have to much rice and Pasta in them to eat after the band. I need to make large quantites of food when I'm off and then eat on it all week. I don't know how this will go after the band. My grown son lives with me, for now. He cooks occasionally, not much though. Then my mom lives in an assisted living place and when I'm off I try to go to see her and take her out to eat. I don' t have time to get anything done, I feel like I'm going crazy!!! At least when summer gets here, I will have a little more time off of school. But then again, I agreed to work summer school for 2 weeks...It never ends....

FunnyDuddies you are not the only one venting here tonight I guess!

Best of luck to all of us.

  6. OK, I've got to jump in here also! Has your husband ever had a weight problem? I mean more than just maybe 20 lbs he wanted to loose. If he has never had this problem, then he doesn't fully understand the problem. I quit going to my PCP because of the same thing. He didn't think that the lap-band was for me. What I needed to do was exercise and go on a diet program. I had never been accountable for my weight. Who did he think I should be accountable too??? Him??? I don't think so. This guy was maybe 140 soaking wet. We kind of had it out and I then changed my Dr. to someone else! I need to be accountable to ME. I need a doctor that is supportive of ME. You need a husband that is supportive of you. Maybe he thinks that this is the way to get you to loose weight!! Scare tactics!! I don't know anyone that that works on. It mostly makes us want to put more in our mouths! He is correct about it being an addidiction of sorts. The hard thing about food is that we have to have it. It's not like a drug that we can do without forever. I would like to know a drug addict that can handle only having a certain amount of their drug. Here you can have some...just not too much! Only the RIGHT amount. I agree about the counseling. Get it for yourself. Maybe he will be willing to get some for himself. I have a friend that is much smaller than me and she has a much worse self esteem than I do. She has recently undergone 2 major surgeries and has not been able to exercise like she usually does. She feels like a blimp (she doesn't look like it) but her self esteem is low. I honestly don't think she would EVER be satisfied with how she looks. If you feel that baddly about yourself it is extreemly difficult to get up and get things done. From the responses you have gotten, it seems you really must have hit a nerve with many lapbanders. Work on yourself, get counseling, consider the lap-band, try to talk to your husband and really try to explain how you feel when he makes these comments. Good luck, and everyone is right about lapbanders- you will always find support and good thoughts and advice (whether you want it or not) here.

  7. Hi LisaC!! Welcome to LBT. I am a newbie myself. I am waiting to get approved by my insurance company. I have had the blood work, etc. done but not the phychologist yet. I hope to get it done by the end of May. I am a TA and am waiting for school to be over with... for the surgery at least! I live south of Knoxville. It's great to talk to other Tennesseeans!!

  8. A new thread each month sounds good to me. And by the way...I just can't subtract!! It should be -1 for this week. Duh! I was changing my ticker from amount lost to actual weight because it was too much trouble to do the math with the difference between the Dr.'s scale and mine at home. Did I mention that I'm a TA for 5th and 6th graders?? :help:

  9. I too am "Super-Sized". I use to think that I was 5'4 1/2" but last month I was measured at the hospital at 5'4". Then about 3 weeks later when I went to the Dr. they measured me at 5'3". Now, I do believe I could have shrunk 1/2 in. but I don' t think that I lost an inch in one month! :) Anyway, I digress... I weigh 294 and my BMI at the Dr. office at 297 was 51.5. I was thinking the other day about how much I would like to be around 200 lbs again. The last time that happened was in the 90's when I was on phen-phen :phanvan !! Then I got to thinking about it and realized that that weight was 100 lbs away! That is depressing! I'm not banded yet but have gotten the ball rolling. Had all my blood work, etc. done and I called the Dr. office Monday and the nurse told me she was going to get all that together this week to send in to my insurance. I don't think there will be a problem being accepted because I know someone that has already had it done that works at the same place. I have no idea how long it will take the insurance to get back to them. I work at a school, TA, and am hoping to get it done at the end of May. I love LBT and the threads here are always interesting! I have learned a lot here. PhotoNut, I see that you are on here... you must live here! I feel like I know you already!

  10. Thanks Brenda and Stacy. Farragut really is close. I live near the Pellissippi in Louisville, if you know where that is. I don't know how long you have been gone. It takes me no time to get to West Knoxville. Turkey Creek shopping area is one of my new favorite places to shop. They have everything out there.

Brenda, I've been through Sweetwater before. I think the only time I actually stopped there was at the indoor flea market. Isn't that where that is??:)

I was beginning to wonder if there was anyone from east Tennessee on this site.

  11. I everybody! I live in Maryville, just about 15 miles s of Knoxville. Seems like most of you are near Nashville. I haven't been banded yet but have started the process. I have had my first DR appt., blood work, upper GI (YUCK), and ultrasound (gall bladder) done. I'm just waiting to hear from insurance now...:paranoid I don't know how long that will take. I work as a TA and hope I can get this done as soon as school is out. That way I would have a couple of weeks before summer school starts. I'm ready to get on with this thing!!

  12. I scumbed to the "things" that you have been talking about but that was before I joined the GFG Club. Maybe I can miss the fish slap...:) You guys crack me up. This club is sooo much fun!

Photonut- I probably wasn't real clear in my statement about my signature. I didn't delete it just clicked the box so it didn't show. I'm a newbie and didn't even think about it taking up too much room. I wish I had more time to be on line. It takes me forever to catch up on stuff.

  13. Here's a cute story. A friend of mine's sister use to curse all the time even though the friend tried to get her to stop around her kids. One day they were pouring fish shaped cat food into the bowl and her 2 yr. old said, "Look at those F---ing fish!" :hat: I can't see fish shaped cat food without thinking about that even now and it's been 20 yrs. ago. The sister tried to cut back after that. Of course we all lol about when the kids weren't around!

  14. Had to weigh early today because I have to go to the hospital to get my upper GI and blood work done for the lap band. One more step done toward being a true lapbander!!

    weight = starting 297; current 294 (-3) YEA!

HELP! How do I change my ticker thing at the bottom to change my weight?

  15. Hi Jenny, welcome to Lab Band Land. :welcome: I'm new also, although I am definitely having the band done. I'm still trying to find my way around in here also! Everyone is very helpful. I'm still trying to figure out the abbreviations for everything. I'm doing OK on that for the most part, every once in a while they stump me though. Good luck with your decision.

  16. I agree - jealous! If she is a good friend I would talk to her, she may not realize that she is hurting your feelings. If it continues then you will have to re-think the situation. A friend of mine had gastric by-pass and at lunch one day someone else said that she was losing weight but not the "easy" way. The other girl said that there was nothing about gastric by-pass that was easy and if she could have done it any other way she would have. The 2nd girl backed up and realized what she said and how it might have sounded. End of conversation.
