it’s the same for me! Zofran is r working as well so my doctor ordered me a few more Patches that worked really well last time. Since we’re so close in our journey maybe we can exchange numbers to text each other!

Hi AmandaQB I’m having the same challenges. This weekend I had to revert back to ice because I was so nauseous after I drank anything. It started when my Protein started. I’m going to slowly sip some Protein today but it’s going to be so hard to get it all in. Is it hard for you to get it all in or is it the nausea?

How are you doing today so far? Yesterday I had a great day, today I'm tired.

  2. I had the gastric bypass and was given two binders at the hospital. They are light compression and help with not needing the pillow when getting up from a chair and such. I would totally check in with your surgical team with your pain concerns, if only for piece of mind.

Oh boy, that is no good. Did you get anti-nausea medications prescribed to you? I have Zofran, and have had to use it for the past three days. My nausea seems to happen around early afternoon, usually while drinking fluids, not protein. It's like my pouch is too full and I get a dry cough that turns to nausea. Really weird.

It's just hard for me to get it all in. I just can't get even close to the 48oz of Fluid and 60-80g protein. I've got timers going to remind me and everything. :(

I had my bypass on Sept 1-the reason for choosing this over sleeve was gerd stage 3, previous ulcers and fatty liver disease, stage 2. Gerd was a huge factor for which one to have but they were also very concerned for my fatty liver going to nash and found the bypass to be the quickest way to give my liver a chance to begin reparation, if possible. My biopsies confirmed it and my last fibroscan with labs already showed reduction to stage 1 and repair of the scarring. Gerd still there but not as bad to swallow now with an ability to breathe much, much easier now. Still belching a lot (3 months post-op) but I had a pretty bad case of it and Doc says to give it at least 6 months. They also still have me on heavy 'zoles' (Panzaprazole and omniprazole both for now).

Glad to hear you are feeling better and have some relief! I'm sure it's awesome to be on the road to being healthier!

Hi all! I’m new here. I finally got my surgery date and I’m very excited. I had rny in 2002 lost 175lbs and then after I had my daughter gained it all back in 10years. My surgeon says my pouch is fine but the opening to my intestines is big so good just flows through. I’m ready to get this done so I can be active and healthy.

We are surgery twins! I am having my RNY at Stanford on the 15th. Best of luck to you!

Not the only reason but a huge factor for me is the control of GERD. My surgeon told me that RNY was originally done for ppl with stomach ulcers + to treat GERD.

Then surgeons started to notice how much weight loss occurred in ppl after the surgery

Yes! That's what my surgeon said as well. Do you have a surgery date yet?

    Hi AmandaQB!

I’m RavensLady Annette. Nice to meet you. My surgery is next week, November 18th. I am also having the Roux-en Y Bypass surgery. My surgery will be done at Wake Forest Baptist Health in North Carolina. The only reasons I am having this surgery is to have a Hiatal Hernia repaired and GERD/Acid Reflux problems. I would love your support as well as give you my support if I can.

Hi RavensLady Annette! Thanks so much for reaching out! How exciting you are nearing your surgery date. 🤩 I'm going to start following your profile so I can stay updated on your progress!

  8. Hi everyone!

Brand new to the forums here. I am gearing up for my December 15, Roux-en Y surgery at Stanford Medical. I know that a majority of patients get the RNY for weight loss. I've been having a hard time finding people who have the surgery to purely address GERD/Acid Reflux. Is there a thread here specifically for this? I'd love to find some people going through the same thing so I can be supportive as well. 😍

  9. I also have been diagnosed with Nutcracker throat, among slow emptying stomach and a hiatal hernia by my bariatric team at Stanford University Medical. I had initially asked about the Nissen, but my surgeon, Dr. Dan Azagury strongly advised against it. Thus, I'm set for a Roux-en Y, with my surgery date next month. I'm sorry you've had such a rough time of it! Sorry I'm not much of a help, but I am hugely sympathetic!
