1. Hi all, im 4 weeks post-op and dying for solids!! I am on puree but because of my own texture issues, I find it hard to get full because this texture is aversive. I started adding some solids such as grilled chicken in small pieces and turkey rolls ups, but not sure what else to try.
Has anyone else feel like they 'skipped' through this puree stage or did you stay with it for about 2-3 weeks?

Just mush the food up. It's still solids. I ate cabbage and green Beans and made them mushy and I felt like I was eating real food or you can just chew forever lol. Try fish as it's already soft.

2. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago i was dropped about 1 1/2 lbs a day and now it stopped ... the scale will not move at all and it’s killing me . I know i shouldn’t be weight my self everyday but it’s a bad habit i have to break . I’ve been following everything and counting my macros but idk what is going on [emoji24]
I'm at a 2 week stall. It took me 4 days to lose 1 pound. Someone needs to hide my scale.

3. Hi! I’m officially 8 days PO stop and doing pretty well. Getting my fluids in. Protein shakes....doing better. I’m struggling with the texture, yuck. I’ve gotten some recipes I’m going to try and hopefully get better with that. My dr allows soft foods at this point so I’m eating eggs, very soft chicken, cottage cheese, etc. The incision that gives me pain, sometimes pretty bad pain, is the incision of which the remainder of the stomach was removed. Now a deep, deep bruise pain, but better than being “stabbed” earlier in the week. Do I seem like I’m on the right track?
I don’t want to mess this up. Confession: would love a good carbonated coke right now. Ugh.
Sounds like me. I'm 12 days post op. Incision is finally feeling better, it was killing me at first. I've started pureed food and am feeling fine for the most part. Hang in there we'll soon be somewhat normal again.

4. I had my surgery 11/18. So far so good. Thanksgiving was different. I was just a couple days into phase 2 diet. I was surprised when all I ate and was full from was a few bites. Today I finally am learning what they say about this being mental change. It was my first day alone all day and boredom hunger crept in. I did good got my fluids (water) in to help subdue that feeling. Then the family came back from day two of Turkey Day with left overs, which included and was mostly Desserts. I know I wasn't supposed to but I had a bite of chocolate cake. My wife who had the surgery said hope you don't get sick because of the sugar. I luckily didn't, but feel shameful that I ate that. Hopefully it's a shock of reality that there was a reason I did this... to be here for my wife and kids. Going to stay strong.
Don't beat yourself up. It was only a bite. I chewed a few things and spit it out. I also ate green Beans and cabbage which were delicious. My date was 11/16.

5. I had my sleeve done on 11/24; I’m one day out. Today is my first full day at home. I’m having a frickin’ HARD time getting anything down at all. Is that normal? Has anyone else experienced this??
Go slow and very little sips is my advice. I had to do a Water trial before I could leave the hospital, did you? It's when they make you drink 20 oz of water and keep it down.

6. I drink Water, Decaf coffee right now since I can’t have caffeine yet, and crystal light. That is all I’ve been drinking, and that is fine, but are there any drinks that you would tell a person just starting on their post op journey to check out? I was never a soda drinker, but I loved juice-orange and cran mix varieties and obviously those are off the list so I’m just seeing as my journey progresses what else I should take a look at. Thanks for any and all suggestions:)
Minute maid pink lemonade zero sugar, Gatorade frost zero sugar, diet ocean spray cranberry and grape cranberry are all my faves.

7. Hello everyone! I have been reading posts for a few weeks and finally got up the courage to join...for support. I will be getting my sleeve on November 25th and discharged Thanksgiving day, then flying home Friday the 27th. I am self pay at Alabama Surgical associates in Huntsville Alabama. Flying from coastal Ga. I have no underlying health conditions but when I walk/jog the my weight causes severe ankle pain and swelling (Tenosynovitis). I need help to get the weight off because exercise is causing pain. I am honestly more worried about the airplane than the surgery....until I go into surgery. Then I am sure Ill be terrified. I don't do pain. I vomited during child birth.....
Good luck with everything. Please make sure you have help. I was extremely tired and sore after surgery until day 3, but of course everyone is different. I think you will be fine if someone could push you around in a wheel chair at the airport.

8. Hi everyone, how are my Nov ppl doing? I'm now 5 days post op VSG. I'm still a little sore, gas is outrageous and the incision by my belly button is killing me!! Other than that, I'm very happy with my decision. I survived the liquid diet and now the surgery, and I'm currently down 18 pounds! My only concern is my immune system during the rise in covid cases. I hate not being able to take Vitamins yet. How is everyone else???

9. This topic was posted several months ago, but this is relevant to what I'm going through right now.
H. Pylori was found in my stool test. I'm currently on day 7 of my 14-day regimen.

• Metronidazole 500 mg twice a day
• Amoxicillin 500 mg twice a day
• Clarithromycin 500 mg twice a day
• Omeprazole 20.6 mgdr twice a day
• Optional, but recommended by my pharmacist - a probiotic mid-day for the 14 days plus an additional 14 days after I finish all the medication listed above [emoji53]

I don't see any responses in this thread as to whether the H. Pylori held you back from surgery. AlwaysCruising , Xx1jpt5xx (and anyone else) did this end up pushing your surgery date back? Thank you [emoji4]

It doesn't hold you back if caught in time. I did 2 weeks of antibiotics and then started my 2 week liquid diet. Surgery is on Monday 11/16. Mine was caught at the perfect time.

10. Oh trust me I’m not decreasing my Fluid intake but I need some serious sleep instead of being up every hour. No coffee, no food, no sleep. I’m a $$*)#@ ray of sunshine...4 more days..............
My diet allows black coffee, so I add a vanilla or caramel Protein Shake to make Creamer. I also use a packet of sweet n low. It's delicious! That's what's helping me get through. Plus nibbles of chicken breast here and there. Im on day 5 and I've lost 7 pounds!
