I am with you!!! I had surgery on 10/13 and lost quite a bit in the first 2-3 weeks. Then got stuck for 8 days, dropped 4 lbs seemingly overnight and now I am stalled again for the past week and a half. It is so frustrating!!! I follow my plan and just feel like it’s not working. 😫

Yes same.. I had been stalled for 8 days then lost 2.4 pounds over night and now have been at the exact same weight to the ounce as the day before for 2 days. It's a struggle..

Patience is key. Stalls can last a while and for some they occur more than once or twice in the early stages. Lots of factors are at play here.

Follow your post-ops guidelines, drink your fluids, be patient, exercise but don't overdo it to chase a loss on the scale.

You much have seen a few non scale successes by now, remember to Celebrate those.

Yes I certainly have saw other success and I guess I should look at them differently.. My clothes are loose, I just feel lighter, but I guess it's a discouragement when that doesn't reflect on the scale.. But I will push through it, I will not regress, just hoping this stall breaks soon!

Definitely normal. Definitely frustrating. Sounds like you are doing amazing! What type of surgery did you have?

I'm so glad to hear that its normal! I had vertical sleeve gastrectomy!

we call that the three-week stall, and it happens to almost everyone. If you do a search on this site, you'll find literally over 15,000 posts on it.

just stick to your program and stay off the scale if you have to. It typically lasts 1-3 weeks. You'll hit a few more of these along the way, but like with you, the first one usually hits within the first month or so after surgery.

It makes me feel so much better knowing others have experienced the same thing!! Thank you all!

I wouldn’t recommend them. Most Protein pills are only 1g of Protein each. That would end up being a super expensive way to get your protein in. Depending on your stage there’s many options. On days where I have a hard time tolerating solid food I’ve found I can eat Quest protein chips (the tortilla style ones). 21g protein per bag (they’re small bags similar to the bags of chips you buy for like $1.50)

I haven't read anything good about them either, I just started purees so it's been alot easier to get much closer to my protein goals than during liquids!

  5. I am 9 days post op and yes I have been FREEZING ever since! I used an electric blanket in the hospital, and have had to use one since I've been home! I was a little cold natured even prior to surgery even though I am heavier, and now it's even worse! But I'd rather cuddle up anyday and lose this weight!!💪💪

  6. So! Today I got the Bariatric hot chocolate in and OMG I love it!! It has Protein in it and I'm not getting near the protein that I am needing because if lactose intolerance and issues with the Protein Shakes. So I'm one happy chick today!! So glad to get something to get my protein intake up! Also got some of the protein soups! Excited to try one of those for lunch later!!

I put my scale away until my next appt (Nov 17). Anyone else? I know I’m doing everything I am supposed to do and the weight will come off. I started getting frustrated, weighing multiple times a day and I got sick of it, lol! Last time I looked on 10/30 I was 203lbs (down 40 lbs from starting weight and 10 from surgery on 10/19).

Yes I am bad for hopping on the scale OFTEN. And even though yes we are losing, it's hard to not get disappointed. I just had my first post-OP appointment today and had my drain taken out, I was surprised to see today that I am down 18 pounds since my surgery on Oct 26th.

Also. Can I ask what Vitamins you're currently taking ? Thank you

Sent from my SM-G781U using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes! I take a couple different brands I had some stock of a few different ones because I was afraid of toleration after surgery.

So I take Barimelt: Iron and Vitamin C, and Biotin these are fast melting.

I take Bariatric Fusion: Multivitamin and Calcium. The Multivitamin is a capsule and the calcium is a soft chew not a Gummy. 😊

  9. So I had surgery on Oct 26th, have been doing really well post OP so far, but I have really strange pains that feel like the center of my shoulder blades when I eat/drink sometimes? Not one specific food or drink that does it, and I cant imagine its restriction because it often comes on the first bite. Also I am taking like super tiny bites of whatever I'm eating, Jello, broth etc.. I also take very small drinks.. It usually passes pretty quickly, bit it's pretty painful..

I had my 10/26 too. How's it going for you? So far I've completely dodged the gas pains.

I had the horrible gas pains and for the first 2 days post OP I was EXTREMELY nauseous and vomited pretty much all the time.. It was miserable! BUT! I have been on full liquid diet for 2 days, it's going good, but I do have a really hard time with Protein Shakes. I was lactose intolerant prior to surgery, so it's been near impossible to drink them and I've tried several. So right now I'm just trying to stay hydrated and eat what I can, and struggle through until I can start eating protein! So I have lost 5.7KG since Monday!
