Had my bypass 31st. Woke up from the operation thinking they hadnt done it yet lol. The gas pain was ok and there was very little nausea. I think I had a good recovery, could drink liquids right after, no problems. Post op 1 day I was back at home . But I have to do those anti clotting injections myself for 20 days, that sucks. And the liquid diet is hard with head hunger. I don't drink shakes because the one I have give me gas.

I didn’t do the shakes either but quickly realized that they help tremendously just keep buying one at a time until you find one you like so far the one I like is
Fa!rlife (chocolate) one shake will last me either 2 meals or sometimes 3

Sent from my SM-N981U using BariatricPal mobile app

When I started this whole process I was at 230 day of surgery 222 current weight 208 dr was very happy and he said looks good. Once I start eating he said that the weight lost will be 1-2 lbs a week. For the next 6 month to one year.

Two days post op and I'm back home now. Managing pain Ok. The worst pain I had was from the hiatal hernia repair that was done at the same time as the VSG. Wow ouch. It's still hard to take a deep breath. Now I'm just working on getting in enough Clear Liquids to stay hydrated, getting up to walk around, and trying to get some sleep. I can't seem to get comfortable in bed! Hope all the October folks are doing well!

Omg yes!!!! Still it feel different and hurts sometimes I have to keep remember I can’t drink or eat anything unless I am fully upright. Hopefully it will start to subside mine did about 6 days post op.

Same here. I have been lazy on tracking and I think I have been over estimating the amount of fluids I am drinking a day. Working on that today.

I was sleeved on the 14th, I can try puree tomorrow. Not sure how that's going to go.

Almost surgery buddies I was on the 15th. I took a zofran im terrified to throw up! They told me writing it down is a must!

What are you planning on having as your first purée?

Sounds like you’re doing great!!! Good luck on going back to work! I’m worried about that too, but not starting until Election Day. 😬 I am one week today too. I am moving well, and my abs have felt good, but I have a lot of pressure still in my upper abdomen and some burning type pains between incision sites. Today is a bad pain day, but I went 3 days without any Tylenol, so it’s just ups and downs. Still can’t stomach whey Protein, and until the dietician messages me back, the doctor won’t ok something else, so I am doing my best with milk and such to get the Protein in. I have eaten cream of chicken Soup, Sugar Free Chocolate pudding, and watered down cream of wheat. Today I sipped on a skim Decaf latte from Starbucks which felt so good, because it is normal! My swelling is going down. It took until Saturday to be back to pre-op weight, although I did get the extra day of fluids with the 2-day hospital stay. Biggest drama now are some mild, but weird side effects that I am working on with the doctor: lovonox injection site that keeps bleeding, red dotted rash on belly, hands getting hot/red/fiercely itchy in hot Water and going away once dry, tons of bruising near my lower abdomen incisions. Does anyone else have major bruising?

I am 11 days post op and I had bruising as well it’s all gone now. About the red around the injection, I did a lot of fertility treatments and one thing I learn is let the alcohol completely dry. Do not rub with the cotton that has the alcohol. Hope that helps!

  6. Got a question how are you guys dealing with your family eating? Today husband went out with my daughter and he asked if he can buy pizza and eat here I asked him to please eat it out. He did but then brought home the left overs which I threw away. But this is not the first time it’s been very difficult as I feel hungry. Not head hungry my stomach is growling hungry. When I have something of what I’m allowed it satisfies me for a bit but then it comes back.

phase 3 started yesterday and had some uncomfortable pain in my stomach. I don’t think I’m ready to advance yet. I might do liquids/ Protein for another week

i Have an appt with my dietician this Tuesday going to discuss it

Wow yeah talk to your des office and see what they suggest but most likely it’s what you’ve decided to do!

It's surprising how different the pre-op and post-op diets are from one doctor to another.

My obligatory counselling session was very expensive - they've recommended I have more but I don't have to thankfully. I didn't find it very helpful.

Pre op 1.5 weeks broth and aroma one lettuce with grilled fish/chicken breast then 3 days before skim milk, broth

I'm on day 2 and just home from the hospital. My stomach's painful and lots of gas - they've sent me home with a baby colic medicine which has given my family a laugh! I'm just trying to walk to get rid of this horrible gas. It's so good to hear of everyone's progress and tips x

Yes the gas is very painful I was able to take up to 4 gas X A day and walking is a must as you already know hang in there! Drink lots of Water like my nurse said water was more important than Protein the first few days so you don’t dehydrate.

Crackers?? The first two weeks my doctor said nothing like absolutely nothing except Protein Drinks and clean liquids he stated if you eat anything in the first two weeks you could die he was firm on that!!

I hear you load and clear but also if I throw up I can bleed as well I only did it twice I was to the point of either that or 🤮 so I took my chance. But believe me I am being careful.

  11. Hi had my surgery 10/15. I have not been able to tolerate the Protein Shakes I recently bought will try the core power protein . But as of Thursday my one week mark, I started getting really hungry. So much so my stomach has been hurting from the grumbling.

My daily schedule looks something like this.

Between meals just lots of water

    Breakfast: skim milk

    lunch: chicken broth

    snack: jello

    dinner chicken broth
