Final day before surgery, only shakes. 2 days after surgery was Clear Liquids only. Protein Shakes (2-3 daily), broths and Water since then. Since 10/22 pre op kick off I have lost 31.5 lbs. Gout flared up in my ankle on Wednesday, just as tramadol came to an end. Late last night had a good round of dry heaves. I think from air in shakes from blender, so I will stick with premade ones. How are others progressing? Doc appointment on 11/20 to go on soft food two week transition. How are you folks progressing?
You are rocking you weight loss! I am down 31 since my pre op diet began. Soft food was a bit of a challenge. I love scrambled eggs, but my new stomach did not. I switched to poached and all is well.

I was able to walk within a few hours coming out of the surgery and I was discharged first thing the next morning. I am down close to 10 pounds from my surgery date (losing about 2 pounds a day) and I am easily able to take my shakes and Water. I am actually a bit nervous that I can too easily take the shake as I can finish the bottle within a one hour sitting. Going to reach out to my doctor Monday but did find that to be alarming based on what else I am reading from others.
I was worried too because within a couple of weeks I could do Water and shakes within an hour. My doctor said that it was fine, I wasn't stretching anything.

I have a feeling I’m going to get lectured tomorrow at my post op appointment. My goal today was to finish a 20 oz Gatorade zero and a Protein Water but I’m not even half done with the Gatorade yet. Sigh.
Wow! You are killing it with your weight loss! I struggle with the liquids too.

That's fantastic! I found it the same way. I had a little bit of pain around my sternum for the first three days. Not bad at all. I do find it comforting to wear the band pretty much 24/7 though even now. I was sleeved 11/2. I have lost 31 pounds since I began pre-op diet. Feeling good.

Hello everyone! I am 8 days Post Op I was 234 before preop diet. Weigh 214.2 today. Still very swollen. Wearing the band pretty much 24/7 to help with that.
Have not had any painkiller - even tylenol - since Friday. So pain was not bad - only did the codeine for two days and then switched to powdered Tylenol. I did not even know there was such as thing - kind of like an adult pixie stick. LOL
I do think that I am a bit hungry - although I don't act on it. Could be just a reflex when I am in the kitchen. ( craving like smokers get after eating meals)
I am struggling getting all fluids in though. I am using Ensure Max Protein supplemented with unflavored whey and collagen. Have been getting 90 grams per day.
Fluids like are tough though. I am a gulper and this sipping stuff is tedious.
Wounds are healing well. Really looking forward to three days from now when I no longer have to take the blood thinner injections - right side is sore from needle sticks.

Well I am three days post surgery. Going well. Little sore today because the numbing agents are dwindling on the incision sites. Not hungry AT ALL! I see now how so many people said they have trouble getting their 60 gr of protein!

Congrats! Happy for you! I have a friend who had that done and she looks awesome 6 years later!

I am three days out from surgery. Now at 222.8 so I lost more than the 11 pounds they wanted me to before surgery. I am ready but nervous!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I have had tons of surgeries and usually fare fairly well, but as one ages, one never knows! I appreciated hearing this! I hope your good experience continues! I go under a week from tomorrow!

Good job! I was swollen too, but the more I wore my belly band, the less swollen I was.
