No but this is your body not mine and if you can't sleep lying down I'd imagine you'd want that fixed asap. RNY is a low pressure system that may give you a better chance at fixing GERD.

You totally right, I had an appointment with the dietitian today and she said that everything I’m doing to avoid the reflux is good and that the surgery will definitely help. Now I have to wait until May 31 to see the surgeon and see what he says.

  2. Hi, I had T2 diabetes for 2 years prior my surgery. My A1C wasn’t that high 8.1 compared to others, but my sugar levels were all over the place from 150 to 340 or so. I was taking metformin but it wasn’t working so I was prescribed Trulicity . After my sleeve I lost 50lb and now I don’t need any meds for diabetes and my sugar doesn’t go over 120. Is been a year since my surgery and so far I’m technically diabetes free.

  3. Hi, I had my gastric sleeve in March 22,21. My recovery was great and I didn’t had any pain or complications at all. I have lost like 60lbs so far. The problem is I have severe GERD. Since the day of my surgery I been taking PPI, now twice a day . Few days ago I had my one year visit with my surgeon and I he suggested that I should do a revision because taking the PPI long term is not ideal and he said that small percent of patients with gastric sleeve end up with severe GERD and I was one of them. That the only cure is the revision. I think is too soon but the regurgitation in the middle of the night are a nightmare to the point that I have to sleep sitting down. Have anyone one in here had a revision so soon? Sorry for my English is not my first language.

Like you, I am on my first day after yeseterday's surgery. So sorry to hear about your throat and the tube problem. I have a bit of a sore throat and some swelling around the puncture sites and abdomen, but otherwise feeling much better than I expected.

Thank you, today I feel so much better. The only thing is bothering me is hunger pain. But I just drink some broth and it went away. Is a process that I’m still learning. I don’t want to throw up. So I’m been very careful with my drink intake. Hope everything goes well with you.

  5. Surgery went well. Thankfully I’m not in a lot of pain. Maybe cause the meds still kicking. The only thing that is bothered me is my throat. When they took out the tubes they hurt my throat. No big deal though. I got send home from the hospital today. I got prescribe good medication for nausea, GERD, and pain. I can’t complain. I hope everyone is ok . Please let me know how you guys are doing.

Hello everyone I am having gastric bypass surgery on March 17th. I was initially supposed to have the sleeve but due to a small tumor found on my stomach I had to switch to gastric bypass with a tumor resection. Either way I am very excited and nervous. Good luck to everyone!

I hope everything goes well for you. Mine is scheduled March 22. I just got approved by my insurance. Now I have to wait for MA to approve elective surgery again. * fingers crossed *

yay for insurance approval. Now I am getting nervous because my doctors office has said nothing about my insurance although the nurse manager verbally said I was good to go - I would like it in writing cause I don;t trust them one bit.

My doctor office hasn’t call me to tell me I got approve. I find out from letter sends to me from my insurance. Don’t worry you should be all set.

  8. Hi, I’m also from MA. I have an appointment with my surgeon on the 26 to schedule the surgery date. I was told today that I may have to wait until March due to the Covid restrictions on elective surgeries here in MA. I’m little worried about the insurance (Tuft unify) because I’m just on the 40 BMI although I do have Diabetes. Good luck to everyone!
