You're not going to stretch your stomach with Water. And it would take A LOT, we're talking constant gluttony to stretch your stomach. I asked my surgeon about it and she said it is really hard to stretch your stomach. So put those fears behind you. It's okay that you're drinking a lot. When you start eating, just watch your portion sizes. Just because you CAN eat more doesn't mean you SHOULD.

You are not behind!! I have other health problems and am 4 weeks post op haven’t exercised hardly at all and am still losing. I had a knot under my incision too and was in a lot of pain still at 2 weeks. sleeping in my recliner helped a lot instead of my bed. It gets better I promise!!

Unfortunately negative comments from our loved ones always hurt the most. I think it’s because we want them to be happy for us. I’m sorry your mother is being so hurtful instead of being supportive.
I think you do have to be selective about what you tell different people. I have a competitive friend who almost always asks what I weigh, what size I’m wearing, etc. I give her the most basic response: Maintaining. About the same as I was. My dietician’s happy with my progress. Etc. (She doesn’t know I had surgery.)
You can always share your progress with us. We’ll Celebrate every pound you lose.

Lets be honest here. We all have reasons for being big in the first place and one of mine was a toxic relationship with my mother. I ate my feelings. I will never get any type of positive reaction from her so I have quit looking for one.
I know my success is eating at her and in a way that just makes me want to succeed even more, yes I know that is a little juvenile but it is what it is
Just be happy in your own skin and know that your success only needs to make you happy!!

Surgery November 10, 25.6 down post surgery, overall 83.4. Been slowly trying new foods, no problems with any of them. Not trying anything really high carb though. chicken breast works great, which was a relief because some people said they had issues with that. Got a Thai curry the other night and just ate some of the tofu and carrots out of it. Tasted great.

Overall I’m super happy with the whole process. It is exciting to constantly see lower weights on the scale.

My wife and I had our surgery 11/11. We were told by our doctor to be a bit more aggressive at our 2 week appointment in regards to what we eat and we have been adding back foods at a reasonably quick rate. Yesterday my wife and I shared a two taco meal at Rubio's as they have Keto-style cheese wraps instead of the tortillas and we had shrimp tacos and saved the Beans for later. We only had about 3/4 of the taco each but it was amazing that we have done so well to be able to eat shrimp already at 6 weeks. Our doctor also wanted to wean us off of Protein Shakes by 8 weeks, and if my Protein calculations are correct, we should be just about there. As for weight loss, I am down 30lbs and my wife is down 25lbs since surgery. We both dropped 19 and 18lbs additionally during our preop. I am down 50lbs and she is down 43lbs since October 27th. Overall, I would say at this phase (the Honeymoon period) we are doing what we can to make this a success. We are trying to take photos as much as we can to show the difference. Our cloths are quite loose and I know we are going to have to downsize them fairly soon.

I think this may be my situation as well. Instead of 3 main meals, I've settled into a routine of 5-6 mini-meals. But I weigh and measure everything and overall, my daily caloric intake averages 800-900. I've been able to reach my weight goal and a normal BMI. We're all different.

I'd respectfully disagree with Grady here. Advice varies in the medical world & each body/stomach is unique. You may require the odd nutritious snack, especially if its high Protein. I'm exercising at a level that requires more protein than many at my stage (I'm pretty new to this too!) My nutritionist wants me to have protein yogurts or bars post work out to prevent muscle loss.
I know someone who has a long thin stomach & can't fit enough in at normal meal times so must supplement by snacking.

    Hi.
I'm 19 days post WLS today and on my pureed diet period.
I feel hungry and eat 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks a day, in small portions of course.
Count the calories of every meal and snack.< /p>
    Between 700-900 kcal a day.
I feel guilty after eating. Think I must starve to loose more weight. Have constant feeling that I'm not going to loose anymore weight. Putting on instead.
I'm 176cm tall and current weight is 280lbs.
Anyone else going through same situation and how do you deal with it?

Do you think a heating pad or a hot water bottle might help with the knot or the pulling pain? I’m sorry you are having a hard time. Some people sail right through the postop period and others have a harder time. This won’t last forever. Do your best with walking and add more time as you are able. You’ll get there, I promise!

    Hi all,
Ive been home for about 24 hours since my surgery. Other than being cold, a little sore and slow - I feel great and am so glad I did it. I had a “low for me” BP reading for the first time in ages. Since that and my type 2 diabetes were the main reasons I wanted the surgery, I’d say it was a success.
Friends have been pitching in and providing dinner for my kiddos and work sent flowers and chocolates - not sure what that is avoiding since they know I had bariatric surgery - 🤷🏽‍♀️ But the kids are happy

I am packed, Jewellery off, and family contacted. We did all the bloodwork the week before last. I just check in at 11 with Surgery at 1pm. I have been "nesting" for the last 3 weeks so I have a very clean house and have set up some light Christmas projects to do shortly after the surgery. My husband will be working from home so I'm good with that. My 19 year old daughter (my youngest ) took next week off to come and keep me company.
I Work with handicapped adults and am off for 6 weeks but I have asked to still do all the administrative work, like monthly financials and such. They will call all the time so I'll feel connected.
I'm from the Saskatoon area of Saskatchewan in Canada. Tomorrow we have to drive the 3 hours it takes to get to where the surgery will take place, They do the Surgeries on Mondays and we get discharged on Thursdays
as ready as I will ever be and excited beyond belief. I have been on Protein Drinks and clear fluids for the last 2 weeks, which was a lot easier than I expected. It was the same when I quit smoking, I got the call to enter the program on a Friday and I quit on Sunday, no issues. I want to know where all this was before I entered the program ...lol
I think/hope I'm ready. I'm starting to get a little freaked out, not about having surgery, but about how this is permanent change. I'm packed, charging up my devices, and ready to go in the morning. I'm lucky that my surgery is at 09:30, so I won't have to wait too long and ponder too much. LOL. Good luck to everyone tomorrow!
