    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I’m doing good! Into the next stage of foods....kind of doing a mix of puréed and soft. It’s all a new challenge. I downloaded a meal tracking app to make sure I am getting my protein in, water in and tracking calories. It’s work!! I feel I am setting my timer all day long to tell me to have my next meal, my water, go for a walk....I hope this all becomes routine!!

A normal day of food post op?

At what point did you start "big workouts"?

A normal day of food post op?

I think when I get to the solid food time, I will do the same.

2 eggs took 3 days to eat? So on a daily basis you would have less than 1 egg and it was satisfying? That seems so little.

    Portion size

That sounds good. Do you use a hand blender to purée the turkey and spinach?

4 days out so many ??s

I had surgery on Thursday the 19th, home on the 20th and no real pain. Took pain meds twice before bed “just in case” and that’s it. I also feel I have a lot of energy consider I went through surgery. I was back working (from home) on Tuesday (6 days after surgery) and have no problem working 10 hr days. Busy year end time. I get up every hour and walk around the house for 10 min so I’m not sitting all day. I did 7,000 steps the other day. Not bad for 1 week after surgery. I’m very pleased by the recovery. I was for sure expecting worse. I have just started purged and soft food but I’m scared! I’m still eating soup and shakes but know I need to move onto other foods. how are you doing with food? And weight loss?

NOOOOO...You are doing amazing! Its so new. You are healing. It is so important to give your body what it needs...sleep, rest, fuel.....and you are doing that. If you are in pain, you can't rest properly, sleep properly or fuel yourself properly. Get what you need for a fantastic recovery!

I was given percocet and told only to take it if needed. And Tylenol for if I am in mild pain. I took percocet twice after surgery...once day of surgery and my first day at home. Hopefully you will get a higher pain killer than you currently have.

So glad all went well, except for the pain. When you say orange size scoop - is that internal or you see it externa? Like, you have a dent the size of an orange?

I went up after surgery also. And down 5 pounds only after 1 week. I'll take it! It is going down! I found the fluid retention from the hospital took about 3 days (out of hospital) to get rid of.

Good to hear! I was hoping we would hear from you and Laine. Relax and enjoy your time off! You do not have to do a thing! Just concentrate on you and healing. It sounds you are doing great!
  15. Hi There, I had my MGB surgery on Thursday. I had a very hard bowel movement on Sunday. Nothing since (2 days). I’m on full liquids...is this why? Are others having this issue? I did order colace (stool softener) online and will receive tomorrow. anyone have similar problems?
  16. It's funny, for some reason I thought the opposite would have happened with bypass. In then out. But what you wrote above makes total sense. Thanks!

That is amazing Luna! Gosh, my surgery date weight was 188.8 on Nov. 19th and today November 25 I am 184. Its not coming off as fast for me as you! Lucky girl! I am happy my weight loss is going down though...I have all the patience in the world right now:) I bet switching to the pureed stage was great but also scary. we neve rknow how our bodies will react. I am looking forward to Friday to "try" something new other than soup and protein shakes! Keep us updated with your progress and any new yummy foods you tried!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Hi Natasha....I am the same date as you, last Thursday. I have been taking gasx as soon as I feel the gas pain and it goes away pretty quick. Try to make a point of walking around your house for 10-15 minutes every hour. The movement moves the gas. I have been having premier protein shakes, butternut squash soup and water. I never feel gas from the protein shakes but I start to feel it after the butternut squash soup. I have been very careful with portion at a time and making sure I walk around and I don’t have any pain except for gas once a day. The worst gas pain I had was right after surgery...Thursday and Friday. let me know if that works for you!

Ohhhhh!! I get it now. Food is causing the reflux. I'm sorry for your pain. when is your surgery? I had the lapband and it caused heartburn/reflux. I was woken up every night with liquid in my throat and would have to throw it up. I was on meds for about 6 years until I said enough. I had my surgery on Thursday and the surgeon said there was quite a bit of scar tissue where the band was which made the surgery more challenging. But it is done. I haven't felt one bit of heartburn or reflux since and it is amazing! Cant wait until you have it done!

Hi Crystal...what type of soft food are you trying? I had the mini bypass and the first week is liquids only, puréed food second week (and only as your body allows...sometimes it will take longer), third week soft food (again, only as your body will tolerate as it is healing) It hurts to think of putting food in my new tummy right now. I am day 4. I can imagine it would be hurting you. Try to go back to liquids...soup, popsicle, protein shakes (warm up the chocolate protein shake for hot chocolate). It sounds like your new tummy is angry.
