    I'm Doing It!

😂 Sorry, I should have asked what are the most important things! Thank you for your response. When you say manage your expectations, are you referring to what I'm expecting to lose? Yes, they did count fatty liver as a comorbidity. I'm currently at a 34BMI, but at the time everything was submitted to the insurance I was at a 35 BMI. They wouldn't cover me at 34. It had to be 35 BMI plus comorbidities. Fortunately, when I was weighted at the doctor's office their scale read a few pounds higher which was a relief! Otherwise, I would have been denied by the insurance for not meeting the 35BMI. The quarantine helped with those extra pounds I needed to reach the required BMI. However, I have since lost a few pounds which puts me back to 34 BMI. I'm close to the border of 34 and 35 that I can easily go back and forth.

    November 2020 sleevers

Welcome! I've been here for a couple of days, but have been reading the message boards for a while! My surgery is on Nov 6th, so it was time to start participating in this supportive community. I'm going to start my preop diet this week and I'm not looking forward to giving up coffee. Am hoping for a miracle where my surgeon will say I can keep drinking it! Yeah right!

That's quite the relief knowing that the insurance will cover it. Out-of-pocket in the states can be so expensive. I found peculiar that when I asked my surgeons office what my share of out of pocket expensive would be, they said they'll know AFTER they bill the insurance. Okay. It would be nice if I knew before hand. Don't they want to know that I can cover my share of the expense? Some business models don't make much sense. I'll definitely post updates throughout my journey. It helped me so much to read other's post that it's the least I could do.

    I'm Doing It!

Good luck with at your appointment tomorrow! I'm sure you must be excited. Will you be self pay or looking for insurance to cover it? If you go to your user name and click it on it, there will be a drop down with several options. Scroll down and click "my surgery." It should take you to a page to enter all the info. I believe that's how I entered it. There were other stuff you can enter there too. Hope that was helpful. I, too, was lost and wondered how the information was entered, so I explored around until I found it. Am glad I can be of help to someone else now!

Congratulations! We're on our way to better health. Hopefully this will be your first and last surgery, because you'll be soooo healthy that you'll never need any again.

It's so interesting how everyone does it differently. Supposedly it's for shrinking of the liver, but I guess surgeons all have their own approaches. Hmmm... it must not be THAT big of an issue if some surgeons don't even require it.

I love those aha moments in life. Specially the ones that can help us be a better version of ourselves. Our surgeries will be fine. Let's work on being more excited and than nervous. Let's have total faith that all will go well. It will be a smooth operation. God forbid that it didn't, we'll deal with it then. Why be nervous about it now, right? Nothing we can do about it anyway. Yeah, easier said than done. But we can do it! Let's release those fears! Time to celebrate the amazing positive changes coming. Woohoo!

Thank you!!! I'm concerned that the sleeve might not be the best option for me since I have gastritis. I've had soooo much discomfort this past week, but my surgeon doesn't seem to be concerned. I'm going to bring it up at my preop. I'm also going to see if I can get tested for H.Pylori as the symptoms are similar. Not sure how it might affect my surgery date. I almost don't even want to address it, but obviously I have to! 😑

I'm not familiar with the 10% weightless goal. My purpose was to not lose any weight before my insurance approved my surgery. I was too close to the cut off BMI of 35 . Any weight loss would result in a denial. Type 2 diabetes and fatty liver helped my cause. It's what's mainly driving my desire to get the sleeve. I weighted in at 213 just barely reaching the 35 BMI for my height! I wore my heaviest clothes and shoes! 😆 Were you required to lose 10%? Is that set by the surgeon or insurance? I know it's not the same for everyone. My nutritionist said that I will be required to do the 2 weeks of liquid, but allowed one low carb meal a day. Fortunately, since the insurance already approved the surgery I don't have to worry about losing. Yay!

I'm scheduled for Nov 6th! My preop appt is next week. Soon to be starting the liquid diet for two weeks! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.
