    Now Thinking About

I'm working on a revision too. I also want the sleeve. Why'd you change your mind? How long have you had your band? I'm not having much success with the band, and some other issue, so my doctor isn't very happy with the band for me. It was his suggestion (much to my surprise!) but I'm ok with it...

    Protein Bar

I love the Pure Protein Bars. They taste really good. The EAS bars are good to, but I can't remember the stats on them.

Yes, please do! I'm curious. I hope everything is ok, though, good luck!

    Help I'm Losing My Hair!!

yes, it is normal and it is because of poor Protein intake. Biotin is the way to go, and of course take your vitamines and Protein Bars and shakes. It will grow back...

    Pain

I've not heard of this happening before, but I'm no doctor. I've had my band for around 4 years; the first thing I would do is go on a soft diet. You don't know what you did and you don't want to inadverdently hurt your stomach. Get on the phone and call your sureons office and ask if you should be seen. Good luck and take care!

    Is This Stuck?

sounds like it. I've had my band for 4 years and sometimes things still get stuck. I find that this happens when don't chew my food extremely well, or when I don't crush or cut my larger medications. Sometimes if I eat something doughy, then take a drink of something; stuck! When you feel that you want to keep swallowing, and you are mucousy, go to the restroom and stand over the toilet like when you are going to vomit, you won't vomit, all the mucousy stuff will just fall out, it's disgusting but you will eventually become unstuck and feel better. DO NOT STICK YOUR FINGER DOWN YOUR THROAT!! Vomiting is a bad thing when you have a band. There is a very large chance of slippage from vomiting. Lean over the toilet and just open your mouth. LOL have fun!

    Dilated Pouch And Unfill

I wonder if this is what was going on with me? I was having moderate to severe pain about 35 -40 minutes after eating. An UGI found nothing, however, they emptied my band prior to the UGI, completely. The UGI showed noting wrong...kind of at a loss....

    Throwing Up And Often

My band doesn't do mornings either. Coffee for breakfast (and i found that i can put a sugar free carnation instant breakfast in it with my creamer) and way later some lunch. I wasn't able to drink water first thing in the mornings, but now find that i can. I am still very nervous to eat regular food first thing; too many sliming issues...and that's gross. Listen to what your body and band are telling you. you probably don't need an unfill, just something warm in the mornings to drink...

Feel Like Such A Lap Band Failure!

Here's mine: I got the band in May of 2008. I did extremely well, losing about 35lbs in the first month alone. Then in 2009I relocated and lost my insurance, and didn't see the doctor again until 3 months ago. I got a fill of 1cc and an immediate unfill if 1/2cc that puts me at 7.5ccs in a 10cc band. I still get really hungry and can still eat around my band. My lowest weight was 213, and i have gained back 30lbs. Yes, I'm ashamed that I gained back that amount of weight and just can't find the motivation to get back on the band wagon. I realize that I am the one who controlls the outcome of this journey and need to kick myself in the butt to get going again. I think this weekend I will try to get back on track by doing the 5 day pouch test. My family will be going away and I will have no one to "take care of" until Sunday night. This could my chance to make this right again...cross your fingers for me, I will be crossing them for myself. The other thing is that this site is wonderful. When you put things out here like this it makes you accountable for your actions. It could be easy for some people to lie about their accomplishments, but I find that the amount of testimonies here lead me to believe that most people are being honest about their ups and downs...thanks all for your stories; they are motivational in and of themselves!
  10. Hey, sorry it's been so long. I didn't forget about you. Did you have your surgery?

wait and see or go to dr?

It isn't a matter of being dense, or even a matter of waiting to see what happens. I went for a fill on Tuesday. Got .5ccs, took me up to 7 in a 10 cc band. I was fine and forgot to crush my meds when I went to bed. They are very small but got stuck. I ended up pbing them and slimed the rest of the night. This started at 11:00pm. I woke up at 6:00am the next day and was able to handle cream of chicken Soup. I went out of town (3 hour drive) and had a couple of teaspoons of mashed potatoes and they got stuck. I was miserable for the rest of the day. Slimed all the way home and stopped at the ER. By that time I was bringing up this weird foam, that was a new one for me. Of course where I went they could do nothing for me because they are not familiar with the procedure so I was bounced back and fourth between the ER and the minor injury clinic. They finally paged my surgeon and by that time I was feeling quite a bit better. I ended up going home and woke up throughout the night choking on my spit. My father drove me to the doctor the next day because by then I was weak from not eating or drinking anything. I got .5 cc taken out and felt better after waiting an hour drinking Water and a protien shake. Talk about crappy. So starting over and doing the 5 day pouch test, might as well! So now I have a question. During a fill has anyone ever experienced a feeling of your insides being sucked out when they remove the saline before filling you? I have never experienced it before and have had 5 fills prior to this one. When my doc unfilled me it was the same sensation, and it hurt. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, it was just something new and I haven't seen this discussed here. Thanks

I have slowed down with the loss only because I had some other surgeries after banding and I have been slow to get back to working out. I was going to Curves 5 days a week prior to surgery then after my other surgeries, when the doc finally released me to work out my Curves closed.:wink5: I finally got off my duff and signed up for 24 hour fitness. I am back at it and hoping to pick up the loss again. Keep reading the success stories on the boards, they are motivators in themselves. There is some serious weight loss going on here and we are going to be a part of that!
  19. Good morning Hope09. Congratulations on the beginning of your new life! A clear liquid diet is just that, anything liquid you can see through would be clear liquid. This includes apple, cranberry or grapejuice, clear broths, Gelatin or gelatin Water, cofee or tea and fortified clear liquid replacements. You can also have sugar free popsicles. Mushies are pretty much anything you can puree. Applesauce, (they have a large variety of fruit sauces in the 4 oz sizes) pear sauce, different flavored apple sauces, sugar free puddings, fruitless yogurts. I bought a "magic bullet" and pureed anything I wanted to eat. Of course they were healthy foods. The thought of eating pureed foods was and still is not that appealing, but it tasts just like it would if you didn't puree it and were just chewing it up. Remember too, that after your surgery your stomach will be swollen from being manipulated so you really need to be nice to it. Try really hard not to cheat. Good luck to you on your journey!

    I ran today!!! (sort of)

I had Dr. David Le. He is really good. He has good bedside manner. When I had my surgery he had done over 200 band procedures and I had no complications. I was off work for 2 weeks. I do mostly desk work as well so that helped. The staff there is great and they serve great food:drool:. Surgery time was 8:00am and I was out of the hospital by 3:00pm the following day and that was because my ride had to come from San Jose. I am not familiar with erosion issues, but I am sure there are plenty of bandsters here who could answer any questions you may have. Also, ask the doctors. My mother goes with me to most of my appointments because she is very protective of me . She is the one who asks all the questions. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

It depends on how soon you lose your required weight. I went at the beginning of April 08 and had my surgery May 5 08. I could have had it sooner had I been losing my weight to begin with. I had to lose 20 lbs before my surgery. If you haven't started losing weight since orientation start now. They really like to see their patients motivated. Good luck! Who's your surgeon?

    May 2008 Slow Losers

Hi guys. My scale hasn't moved in at least 3 months. Talk about bugged. No, I haven't been exercising the way I should either. Some walking, but not enough. I started back at the gym on Tuesday. Talk about an ass kicker. I am so sore I can barely walk. And I have to go up the stairs to get to my office at work! Painful. Everyone keeps telling me, (you know the old addage) "No pain, no gain". So I thought I would come here and get some moral support from those who know best. Take care everyone have a great day!

    Last Minute Weight Loss

I did the same thing. I could have kicked myself if I could have gotten my foot that high. I had to lose 20 lbs. I went to the gym 5 days a week and walked every day. Drank nothing but water and tea, lots of salad, and protien shakes for breakfast, every day. You can do it. Julie.ann is right, they can't do the surgery if they can't see your stomach it sits behind your liver. Get on the ball girl, you have a couple of weeks left! Good luck1
