Looking for recommendations to attempt to prevent as much facial wrinkling as possible. I have been overweight my whole life and honestly had enough cheeks to prevent wrinkles from showing. As I lose weight I notice that my skin is dry, pores are large and wrinkles are developing. I have also noted viewing success stories pictures that they appear older after losing weight, no offense to anyone. It is a small prices to pay for being healthier but just wondering what has helped or worked for others. Thanks!

do you feel restriction? I would focus on water and protein first and foremost. I am surprised that you would eat that much tuna tettrazini but everyone is different. I don't think that your caloric intake is too much. I would reach out to nutritionist and see what they think.

I am about 7 months out and I find that I need to eat more frequently to prevent hunger (genuine with stomach growling), however I find that I am snacking on things that are not protein rich and then not meeting my protein goals. Any ideas for snacks? both naturally occurring protein and bars, snacks, foods that I can purchase. Thanks!

I add unflavored protein to my oatmeal and zero calorie flavored syrup to make it worth it

Weighing the risks vs success
ecugsplgrl replied to Roses436's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a nurse who started her career in the OR and now works in ER and it was very difficult for me to not see every complication possible happening to me. Ultimately, I have no regrets. Had no complications and have lost 130 pounds. Research the surgeon you choose, their support and details of the program as well as resources. Ask other patients how their experience was with that surgeon. When I went for my consult, the surgeon started in on his VERY low complication rate and well developed plan and I said, you don't have to sell me, I've already done my research on you! Good luck!! I have more energy, get more done, spend time with my family. I'm a better person, mom, wife and nurse. I would it again tomorrow. -
I am so f*cked. Rebound sugar and carb cravings.

I have found that using flavored syrups in protein shakes, oatmeal, yogurt etc helps with cravings. I add unflavored protein and maple bourbon pecan skinny syrup. my daughter likes the peanut butter cup flavor. Idealfit has many flavor offerings for protein powder and I also looked into bariatric foodie's protein shake cookbook, available on amazon as it has recipes for ice cream, shakes and desserts. Good luck! -

Diet changes leading up to surgery

initially your sips of liquid after surgery will have to be VERY small or cause pain. Practice not chugging beverages or taking large gulps. -

I've lost 100 lbs total since highest weight and can still wear my 26 jeans which were tight when at my highest. they are now loose at the waist but I have big legs so they are fine there. I also can't really go to a store and try things on right now due to the pandemic so just holding tight.

I had a health scare with a swollen lymph node and my husband very kindly brought up that he was concerned that masses or additional lymph nodes may be swollen and unnoticed due to my size. That's when I decided to start the process.

Rice, Pasta, Bread, etc
ecugsplgrl replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I can't do ANY white bread, it makes me sick. I have done whole wheat bread, protein pasta, chickpea and cauliflower pasta occasionally with no issues. Also, wheat tortillas for wraps. -
I have difficulty eating out. I refuse to eat anything McDonald's so when my kids get that, I just skip. I have been able to figure out kids menu items for firehouse subs and subway. Chickfila I can manage with fruit cup and grilled chicken. Also, Mexican is my fallback, Chipotle and Moe's I just have kid's meals with protein and veggies. Luckily I have 4 kids so I can get by with ordering a kid's meal for me and adult meal for my 13 year old. Any other suggestions, we truly don't eat out much, I just don't want to make bad choices when I'm hungry and be miserable. Does anyone do burgers without bun?

At chickfila I usually get the kids grilled nuggets meal with fruit cup and diet lemonade. or a grilled chicken sandwich and eat it for at least 2 meals.

I'm 4 months out. I just discovered fairlife nutrion shakes. 150 cals, low carb and 30g protein and it tastes like chocolate milk. -
I think that while exercising contributes to weight loss, it is also an important part of a healthy lifestyle. I would introduce some cardio and weight lifting just for the health benefits. Good luck!

NO pre-op Liquid Diet...Anyone else?
ecugsplgrl replied to JazzyJess20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon does a liver reduction diet, no carbs and low calorie. I don't remember the specifics but it was not sheerly liquids until the bowel prep 2 days before. -
Is duodenal switch too drastic?
ecugsplgrl replied to Bon Bon Jovi's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I had the traditional DS in October. I went into my consult wanting a sleeve and my surgeon expressed that he didn't believe that I would get the results I wanted from the sleeve and advised that DS may be a better option. However, he ultimately left the decision to me. Even on the morning of surgery he verified that I was still on board with the procedure. Good luck. -
