    11 days post op

Hi Keving, You are doing so well so far. Can I ask why you are not having a fill until September? That seems like a really long time to wait.
  2. Hi Kim (Peacedove), I don´t think you should be so hard on yourself, your tummy has healed, you´ve already lost some weight and that is why you are feeling no restriction at all. Sounds to me like you need to get a fill so that you can limit your intake. Obviously you are not making the right choice by heading to Wendy´s for a hamburger, but I bet there is not one person on this forum that has not had a cheat or three in the time that they have had their band. We are food addicts, that is why we need our fills and this band. It is one of the worst addictions a person can have. We have to eat to live but we just need to really make the effort to choose the right foods to help our bodies. Girl, I´ll hand you out your "punishment" if it will make you feel better....lol..... go do 2 x two hour walks this week-end....two on Saturday and two on Sunday. No excuses, report back.....lmao!!!
  3. I am so ready for the mushies, I went to the shops today to pick up veggies that I can boil and mash this week-end. ROLL ON SATURDAY!! My stitches come out tomorrow. I seem to have healed up really nicely. Went back to work today and I was okay. Got a bit tired again late this afternoon but not as bad as Monday was. We´re all slowly on the mend and soon we´ll be able to really start working hard at this new life style we have choosen. I went walking yesterday, nothing too strenguous, but it was about a 3 hour stop, walk, smell the roses, have my hair cut, walk some more etc etc. Take care all.

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

Annabella, can I ask where you are from and who did your surgery?
  5. Fabulous!!! You have really done so well, be proud.
  6. Although I am a newbie banded person, I am not a stranger to the diet world. You should not be starving yourself. Your body is holding onto everything it can because you are not supplying it with the fuel it needs to keep going. I´d suggest you call your doctor and ask if it´s okay to go on a diet of 5 or 6 small healthy meals a day. Load up on soft veggies, fish, chicken, Soups, salads, fruits, whatever you can and keep yourself content. Remember it takes approx 20 minutes for the brain to register that you have eaten, so chew slowly and only dish your food up on a side plate instead of a full meal plate. Good luck hun, your first fill is not that far away.
  7. I hear you Kat, I really tried to resist that damn sausage. It was late last night around 10:30 and I seriously couldn´t sleep, I kept laying there thinking about it, wanting it, wanting it even more, got up drank Water, went back to bed, tossed around another 30 minutes or so, kept thinking about the damn sausage, knew I had to get up early to go to work and by around mid night I thought f*#k it! Got up and ate the thing and went to sleep. I hope it won´t happen again. chicken sauages are now banned until I am allowed to eat something solid again. :-)))
  8. I experienced a pang of hunger for the first time last night after surgery which was last Tuesday. Although I don´t know if that was just me craving for something other than soups and liquids. I had a chicken sausage that was in the fridge (chewed it till it was really broken down) and wham there went my craving. I´m fine again today, no hunger pangs or anything.

    Miserable still

Hope you have already contacted the doctor. I´ve read a lot here and it seems that walking helps with the gas. Are you able to move around alright? If yes, try do some walking to help get rid of the gas. Get better soon, your new journey is waiting for you.
  10. I really believe that there comes a time in every overweight persons life where the mind will go "click, click" it´s time to deal with the weight issue. We get into the whole mind set of doing it and for a lot of us normal dieting can be done and goals achieved. Then there is another group of overweights where, they also get the "click click" in their mind to start their journey. Then life throws a lemon or something at them and their determination is jaggered. This is the group that I fall into. I seriously am not a junk food person, I´d rather eat veggies, salad, fish, fruits and healthy choices .... BUT... my biggest weakness is bread. It´s my manna from heaven. If I am hungry and need to eat I would always go for bread and butter. Now I can´t do that. I am cutting bread out my diet completely. I know it´s my enemy so I have to do away with it. I have not voted on the poll, I am only one week into this and I have no idea if it´s easy or not. At this stage, it´s VERY easy. I have a lot of restriction and feel satisfied after my liquids. Give me a few more months and I will be back to vote on the poll.

    Help!!! Have i failed???

Hope you are able to get through your inner struggle and go get your fill. No one said this was going to be easy, but hey you have gone through the major part and that was having the band fitted. You have your tool, now you just have to learn how to work it. Good luck!!
  12. Last night was the first time I was able to really fall asleep my normal way, on my left side, where my port happens to be. I am so happy this has finally happened. 8 days after surgery.
  13. I´m starting to wonder if the Ticker count is really such a good thing. It´s lovely to see how everyone is doing and I also love going and adjusting mine - but - I think it is really important that people realise just how different we all are. We will all lose weight differently, we will all go through stages where nothing will happen and then suddenly whoops there it goes again. Allykat, what I am trying to say is please don´t beat yourself up if you do not loose as quick as others, you are losing and that´s what matters. I actually think you are lucky that it may be coming off slower, you´ll have less problem with hanging skin and the slower it comes off the more chance you have of it NEVER returning. Keep going, you are doing very well. :-))

    I threw Up!! *sigh*

Thanks for the PB explaination, how does a person avoid this happening? It sounds dreadful.
  16. Mrs J.J

    How do I do it?

Click on USER CP (top left hand corner) Look for EDIT SIGNATURE And then copy paste from the link the ticker site gives you into the box that opens from Edit signature. Let me know you get on.

    Anna

Another lady to inspire us newbies. Welcome Anna! When you are ready, would you share some pictures with us? I find the picture threads enough to make me fight through this.
  19. Hi Julia, So glad to hear that things are going good for you. I was really lucky, I didn´t have much pain at all. I had waves of nausea and the only pain was when I moved or forgot that I couldn´t bend to pick things up. It was bearable pain for me. I know everyone experiences things differently. I can only echo what you have suggested to Jiggy, do not do this alone. Seriously, I also was going to go solo and then my husbad insisted on coming with me. I am so glad he did. This has brought us so much closer. He asked questions to satisfy his own mind that I was going to be okay. He carried bags, shopped for Water and liquid foods for me. He washed my hair because I was too scared to lift my arms up to do it myself in the shower in case I tore a stitch or something. He is my pillar of strength. Also the package deal that they are offering includes the hotel stay for your partner, so the extra cost would be your SO´s food and flights. The most annoying thing to me was having to wear those damn thrombosis socks! Most painful for me was when Fatima the nurse pulled the drain out of me, I never realised what she was doing, that got me ohhhhing and ahhhing. I went back to work yesterday until 15:00 and was so tired. Today my stomach muscles feel like I have done 100 push ups, so I stayed at home. I will see how I feel in the morning if I go back tomorrow or not. I have come out the closet and told people about it. I LOVE the support I am receiving. I am down almost 6 kgs!!! I know this is the honeymoon phase, but I love it!! Now i just have to get off my butt and start doing some serious walking. Keep in touch Julia....hugs!!!!
  20. Still new to all this, I just wanted to say to HeatherO that you are doing so well!!

These type of threads inspire me so much!! Thank you for sharing this. You guys rock!!!
  23. Thanks for the tip dsmith. I am lucky that my DH has been home most of the time to pick things up for me. If he is not around I use my toes.
  24. Hi there Rangerfan, have you contacted your surgeon about this? To be honest I am still a newbie here, I have done a lot of reading and research on the banding and I haven´t heard about your problem before. I hope that someone else here can help you out with a positive answer. In the meantime, if this is worrying you, contact your surgeon so you get a straight direct answer. Let us know what´s happening.
