    Non-Scale Victories!!

Now this is a good guy! If he would flirt with you at any weight, he truly sees that beauty is more than skin deep. He is definitely a keeper...even if he never becomes more than a friend!

Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies

My absolute favorite one is Sweatin' to the Oldies 2. I used to own all of them on VHS and when we got our DVD player, I only replaced Sweatin' to the Oldies 2. Richard is so bubbly and upbeat all the time.
  3. I am in the practicing phase since I haven't had my lapband yet. I am using a demittasse spoon (used for coffee, lattes, etc) and a seafood fork. I didn't know about the child portion card for restaurants either. What a great idea as many restaurants don't normally allow adults to order child sized meals. Wish those cards were available for all who have WLS.
  4. We will be married 36 years in September and are still very much in love. Neither of us have cheated, nor would we. It would be cruel, disrespectful and dishonest. We always felt that honesty was best and we believe marriage is for life...that you must work at it to be successful. And, I would marry him all over again!

I got my date July 16th...

Moe, I am so happy for you! I can't wait until I have my date. Congrats and may you have a speedy recovery!
  6. I don't care if the President is purple! What matters to me is where he/she stands on the issues that concern the country. That being said, I personally do not feel that Obama is the right person for the job...regardless of color. Now, if it was Colin Powell, he'd have my vote in a heartbeat! I also think we are ready for a female president but, again, Hillary is not for me. I would love to see an honest, best-interest-of-the-country oriented President with high moral standards (is there such a thing anymore among politicians). IMO, the highest office in the country has become all about self-interest, power and wealth rather than what is truly good for the country. So sad...

    Weigh in.

Good luck, Froggi! I hope that you will be happy when you step on the scale tomorrow. Keep up the good work and think positive thoughts!
  8. teacherofk, I am so sorry you could not have your surgery. Where do you go from here? Did the surgeon give you any viable options? You are in my thoughts and prayers.

    LBT Official Cookbook?

Count me in! I would love a copy as well. I am not banded yet but I am sure I would find it very helpful plus I love cookbooks of tried and true recipe favorites!
  10. I'm also pre-band. I never consume more than 1200 calories per day and sometimes, as little as 800. I almost never eat sweets or desserts. If I have snacks, they consist of raw veggies or popcorn. I have always been a healthy eater but it seems as if my metabolism didn't just slow down in my 40s, it literally died. I also exercise (walking). I am in the process of finding the perfect bicycle now so that I can add bking to my exercise for a change of pace. I gave up the personal trainer after no weight loss, only inches, in 1.5 years. It was just wasted money since there were no results. It is so frustrating to do everything right and yet have a weight problem!

    Alabama New Comer

Hi Diane and welcome! I am also over 50 (though my age isn't posted). Thank you for the link. I have been reading this site (LapBandTalk) a lot and there is also a thread with just those from Alabama and a thread for those over 50 so you might stumble across those in your exploration of this site.

    Did I lie?

I know what you mean but, really, is it anyone's business but yours? And, you did tell the truth, just not the entire truth. I am wondering how I will deal with this when the time comes. I told only a few people that I was considering this and the reaction I got was SO negative that I already told my husband that I don't think I will tell anyone once I do have a lapband. My husband is the one who told me that it isn't anyone's business. To just smile and say that I worked hard at it. Now isn't that the truth? You worked hard by following all the rules of exercise, portion control, Protein intake, etc. Remember, it is noone's business but yours so it is yours to share only with who you want to tell. Congrats and good luck!

    Alabama bandster

I haven't met him yet. The office won't make an appointment for you until you attend the seminar. I am so happy you found someone that you feel comfortable with as that is so important.

    Alabama bandster

Hi Everyone! I am also from Alabama and hope to be banded soon. I will attend the required seminar on July 24th; I am just starting the process. I will be a self pay though so will not have to jump through all the insurance hoops which should lessen the time factor. I would be particularly interested in talking to anyone who used Dr. Touliatos but am happy to talk to anyone! It is so nice to see that there are others here from Alabama!

    I'm new too!

Thank you, froggi and good luck to you as well!

    I'm new too!

Hi Maddie! I am also new here and also just under a BMI of 35. I am just starting the process as well but, since I intend to pay for the procedure myself, I don't have to hassle with the insurance process. I just have to hope that the doctor will agree to do the surgery. You are a step ahead of me. My seminar isn't until July 24th and it seems SO far away though I know it will be here before I know it. Good luck!
