    first fill - 3 pokes

Hi - I was banded August 15th. Had my first fill last Thursday, Sept 25. It was easy, maybe 90 seconds. I have a 10cc band. My Doc asked if I needed a fill..... I said yes, because I was very hungry at night, We decided on 1.5cc fill. My next appointment is 6 week, Nov 12th. So far, I the fill is restricting a little more than prior, but I think I need another 1cc.
  3. Hi - I was banded August 15th. I agree with Restless. Alcohol is empty calories. I truly have enjoy my beer and wine and vodka...etc over the years. . Alcohol, in addition to the love of food, are the main reasons I am obese. The band is a tool and a reminder that we need to change our old habits. I know that I can drink a few beers, but ....I am trying to lose weight. So far, I haven't endulged... I am sure I will, but for now, I am dedicated to lose weight. The band isn't a magic wand, we need to work at it. Try to limit all calories including limiting the booze. This is from a person who has loved his libations for years.....Good Luck..

    First Fill Tomorrow!

Hi - I go for my first fill today too. I have minimal restriction and look forward to my fill. Since my band on 8/15 I lost 24 lbs. I have been dieting... I have kept a very low carb, high protein and treadmill every day for a half hour. Mornings and lunch is fine but I am very hungry when I get home after work. I eat more protein than recommended. Evenings are my downfall. Unfortunately, we all need to work at this, the band isn't a magic wand.. Keep working hard...

    Loss of Excitement

Hi Gilta - I think we all get in and out of funks... I am at a stand still with weight loss this week but get my first fill this afternoon. I am looking forward to my fill and the next stage of the journey. Keep positive, stay around the people who support you the most , keep exercising and focus on your next goal. Remember... It's only been 2 months... We all are just starting the journey and adjusting to complete life style changes. Of course we will get into funks, you are not alone. My difficulty has been giving up the Pasta, pizza, beer & wine. I am tempted to these foods because I know I can tolerate them. I have kept disciplined because I am determined to lose this weight forever. I also appreciate your advice to give away my bigger clothes so I have more discipline to keep the weight off. Keep positive. Gary

    Anyone had a PB yet?

My first PB was two weeks ago. lunch at home, I had a cold dry leftover burger, no bread. After a few bites, I got the stuck feeling in the middle of my chest, yes it hurt... I slimed a few times, yuked up... it took about 20 minutes for the rest to go down. I was walking a lot to get unstuck and thankful this wasn't at work or with others around. My lesson is to really chew well. I find that a freshly cooked burger is ok but cold isn't. I think my band gets looser as the day progresses. I am finding now that even dryer chicken can get stuck. Today is one month since my band and I am down 22 lbs, first fill is in 10 days Sept 25. I don't think I need too many fills to be successful.

    Banded August 15th

Dani -you sound great. I was also banded on 8/15. I went home at 5pm and agree the toughest part was waking right after surgery. I got the chills pretty bad right after, but that passed quick, I also had no real gas pains and returnd to work Mon & Tues half days following surgery then full days. Not itchy yet. I just started mushy's and scrambled eggs are my best friend, egg drop Soup, I like my chochlate whey and 4oz skim milk in the blener w/ crushd ice...my appetite is starting to really come back, but my mind set is to really make this work. half hour per day on the teadmill. I'm down 14lbs in 9days and loving my band...and new life....

  12. Hi All Stars - I was Banded at 11:30am and sent home at 5:30pm yesterday. My first hour of post op I was very groggy, they gave me morphine. Then they moved me into my room where I conected with my wife. I had the option to sit in a chair or the bed, so I chose the chair. The nurse said to start walking asap. Within 20 minutes I stood up and started walking, I took baby steps but felt pretty good. I tolerated the Clear liquids well- 1 oz per 15 minutes, little sips... I was able to pee and took a peek at my incisions...not so bad... they came in with broth, tea and Jello, not jelly... all went down ok but mini-sips. Most of the pain are in the incisions area and my stomach feels very tight. No gas yet, happy wife... I was given the option to stay the night but chose to come home. I get up slowly every 2 hours to walk around the house inside, and take percoset for pain every 4 hours. I am very optimistic... and happy I got the band. I look forward to this journey with my band buddies....:biggrin2:

    Intro's and Honesty

Hi -Missmama, I'm being banded tomorrow after many years of diet struggling... the truth is not in our pictures, but in our health conditions and future health conditions if we don't conquer this disease of obesity.... I am doing this to dramatically improve my health, for me, my wife of 24 years and two teenage sons. Good luck with your exploration into band-hood... It is worth it....

    Anyone Afraid?

Inee - Yes, it is natural to be scared. I am 3 days away from my band date... I keep reminding my self that this is a health issue, a disease, not a vanity issue. I am 48 with a great skinny wife and two super boyz 19 & 14. I also wrote a private letter to my wife.... we are all experiencing the same emotions. I truly feel that the surgery will be the easy part. Post -op discomfort for 2 weeks.... then the fun begins on learning to eat properly... We are doing the right thing, trust in yourself..... Gary
  18. Kellim - thanks for sharing, I am 3 days away from my band date and every story I read helps. It sound like you are doing well. Keep up the positive spirits...

    Anyone else freaking out??

I'm getting a bit nervous too. 11 days to go. It is strange to think how our life and eating habits will change after the band. My surgeon does not require a pre-op diet AT ALL... so unique to most of you, their is nothing different about my eating habits before my date... I am spending 30 min on the treadmill and 50 stomach crunches every morning to help prepare me for post op recovery... Anyone else exercising pre-op?
  24. lellow - happy for you... keep positive, walk a bit and in a few days you will feel great... keep us all posted. GaryB ....
