Are they giving you anything for the nausea? They sent me home with a prescription for ondansetron (Zofran). They were giving it to me in the hospital, too. Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

    November 2020 sleevers

I had the surgery yesterday and am home now. It went very smoothly, I had very little pain, no nausea, and am tolerating fluids well. I am surprised at how easy it was. Yesterday I was really groggy, and slept most of the day. I'm about ready for a nap today, but I'm trying to get my first protein shake in first. I hope everyone else is doing well! Anyone November 2020

I had mine today. No pain, but I’ve been incredibly groggy all day. Water tastes terrible and I LIKE water! I’m just hoping it is the taste of the hospital’s water and when I get home it will be good again. I managed to get broth and some jello down. Not really feeling a restriction though. Overall, it hasn’t been as hard as I expected it to be. Good luck to all the folks in the future and I hope the folks who also had surgery today are doing well!

    November 2020 sleevers

I am packed, Jewellery off, and family contacted. We did all the bloodwork the week before last. I just check in at 11 with Surgery at 1pm. I have been "nesting" for the last 3 weeks so I have a very clean house and have set up some light Christmas projects to do shortly after the surgery. My husband will be working from home so I'm good with that. My 19 year old daughter (my youngest ) took next week off to come and keep me company. I Work with handicapped adults and am off for 6 weeks but I have asked to still do all the administrative work, like monthly financials and such. They will call all the time so I'll feel connected. I'm from the Saskatoon area of Saskatchewan in Canada. Tomorrow we have to drive the 3 hours it takes to get to where the surgery will take place, They do the Surgeries on Mondays and we get discharged on Thursdays as ready as I will ever be and excited beyond belief. I have been on Protein drinks and clear fluids for the last 2 weeks, which was a lot easier than I expected. It was the same when I quit smoking, I got the call to enter the program on a Friday and I quit on Sunday, no issues. I want to know where all this was before I entered the program ...lol I think/hope I'm ready. I'm starting to get a little freaked out, not about having surgery, but about how this is permanent change. I'm packed, charging up my devices, and ready to go in the morning. I'm lucky that my surgery is at 09:30, so I won't have to wait too long and ponder too much. LOL. Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

I actually like the cookies and cream one. Pumpkin Spice just sounds nasty to me. I'm sure we will be sick of all of them by the time we're back on solid food. Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

    2020 Major Holidays During Pandemic

Last year my kids came to our house for Christmas. Other than FaceTime I haven't seen them since. My husband and I will be home alone for Christmas and Thanksgiving. This is the year we normally would have gone to Chicago to see our older son for Christmas, but Covid put an end to that. Since I'm having my VSG on Monday, I won't be eating much anyway. Does gravy count as a full liquid? Asking for a friend. Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

LOL!! It's cruel to have to do this when we still have our hunger hormones. I'm hoping it will be easier when I don't have a huge bottomless stomach waiting to get filled! Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

Time is dragging. I'm so ready to get this over with. Tomorrow I get bloodwork, an EKG, and a Covid culture, then on Sunday I start the straight liquid diet, and Monday is the BIG DAY! Good luck to my fellow sleevers on Monday!

The pre-op diet is no joke, for sure, but it's getting us ready for the post-op period. Postop you won't be able to eat the croissant, or the two bites of pizza, without risking significant postop complications. What is helping me now is a cup of broth in the morning and afternoon. Today I doctored it up with a little worcestorshire sauce which made it taste better (for some reason things taste bitter to me and the protein drink leaves a taste in my mouth like the smell of burnt hair - YECH!!). I do look forward to my evening meal and got the okay today to substitute eggs for meat if I want. I'd been craving scrambled eggs for some reason. Another thing that helps is that someone who is further down the line than us told me to develop the mantra: "I can't have that now, but I will be able to have it later." When I want pizza or a taco, I think about that. I hope this helps you, too! Not much longer to wait! Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

    EGD...

Every physician is different, but for me, the EGD was the final step before submitting all my prerequisites to my insurance. Once insurance was approved, a surgery date was set and I had a pre-op appointment with my surgeon. I'm now on a mostly liquid, high protein, low fat/low carb diet, and my surgery will be Nov. 2. This diet is a fat zapper: I've lost 6lbs in 5 days. I was told that its purpose is to shrink the liver and also start my body switching from carb burning to fat burning. You should get more answers after your EGD, which, BTW, is a quick and easy procedure. Good luck! Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Weight Loss Sugestions

I’m on my pre-op diet for surgery 11/2; it consists of one protein shake for breakfast, and another for lunch. For dinner I can have 3-4 oz of meat, fish, or chicken and 1 cup of steamed vegetables. I started it last Tuesday, and in 5 days I’ve lost 7 lbs. I drink water, low fat chicken broth, and have an occasional bowl of sugar free jello. I’m hungry as hell, but the weight is coming off. Be sure you aren’t cheating in any way and I’ll bet the weight will start dropping.

I'm a water gulper too, and it is my biggest concern. Because of some of my medications and use of a CPAP, I wake up so thirsty, and I doubt little sips will do the trick. Also, I live in Arizona and although it is getting a little cooler now, I get really thirsty when I go for a walk. Oh well, we'll make it work somehow! This pre-op diet is melting the fat like nothing else. I'm down 7 lbs since starting on Tuesday. I guess eating 600-700 calories will do it! It's not helping my obsession with food though. I watch the clock figuring when I can next eat, and both do I look forward to my one small meal in the evening. Tonight it is STEAK! Also having steamed zucchini which I love. How are you all doing with your pre-op liver shrinking diet? Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

Don't back out! You can do it! I think the next 6 months are going to be hard, but once we get through that I think it will get easier. I look forward to shopping at Nordstrom next summer for the anniversary sale, and finally, finally, FINALLY being in regular sizes! I haven't been in non-plus sizes for over 40 years. That would be hard. I’m not a fan of protein bars either, although it might sound pretty appetizing in a few days.

    November 2020 sleevers

Had my pre-op visit today and finally got the dreaded pre-op diet. A protein shake for breakfast, another for lunch, and for dinner, 3-4 oz of protein and a cup of steamed vegetables. I'm starving already. I can also have 1-2 cups of broth and all the water I want, as long as it's at least 64 oz. On the drive home, I was thinking I could maybe stop and pick up one last hamburger or some Mexican food, but since this is a food change I'm going to have to do for life, I figured I'd better get on with it. 13 days to surgery. I'll be glad to get it over with, because then at least I won't feel hungry. Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

Coronavirus: to mask or not to mask?

So, for those of you who had your WLS in 2020, did you have to wear your mask while you were in the hospital? My pre-op appointment is tomorrow, and I'll find out then, but while I'm waiting I wonder what y'all experienced. Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Anyone November 2020

I'm scheduled for Nov.2. So far I purchased 2oz plastic cups with lids so I can make and freeze small portions of pureed foods and broths. I also got some plastic medicine cups to portion out liquids. I see my surgeon next week for my pre-op visit and will learn what kind of diet I'll be on before hand. I also bought one of those medication organizers so I can track of which vitamins to take daily. This weekend I'm going to make a big batch of beef broth to freeze.
