Hopefully when he sees that it is the best decision I ever made he will feel differently about it and consider it for himself. He’s got a lot going on (out of work over a year due to covid, hes severely obese himself at probably 400 pounds.... so he may be feeling some jealousy..... he’s insecure.... etc.) All his issues I can’t fix. That’s on him. Just like he couldn’t fix me and I had to do it myself and get the help I needed. Im in this for me and my kids. I want to be able to PLAY with them. I chased my four year old for the first time the other day. He laughed like a crazy person. It was the most amazing feeling to be able to move more freely and not be in excruciating pain with each step. I guess everyone reaches their limit where they put their foot down and do something about it. I just reached mine before he did.

Believe it or not: I couldn’t find liquid Tylenol! I found some extra strength powdered Tylenol though (think pixie stix only medicine instead of sugar). I have all my shows ready to go! And I borrowed a book from my mom I’ve been meaning to read (the stand). I also have my knitting project bag ready if I need to keep busy with my hands. thanks for the support. It’s nice to have it. My husband is not supportive of this decision so I will get it where I can

I made some sugar free jello protein shots today. I should have mixed in more Isopure powder. I only did 2 scoops and it equals out to about 1.6 G protein per one ounce container (I ordered cheap condiment containers). If I had done one more scoop it would have been 2.5 g but I was worried about it dissolving all the way. It would be nice if it would dissolve enough to give me 5 g in each one.

Tomorrow is the day!!!! My check in time is at 7:45am. I’m super excited! i don’t know how people go on extended liquid diets prior to surgery though. I only have to do it for two days.... TWO DAYS!!! And I’m dying. It’s horrible. When I get hungry I get nauseous and so I’ve basically been sick to my stomach since yesterday. thank goodness I only have one more day of this. Oh and to add insult to injury: I dreamt about food😂 I dreamt I was eating warm oatmeal cookies and then I woke up and freaked out for a minute because I ruined the pre op diet 😂 (the crazy part is that I’m not really a fan of cookies )
  6. My pre op diet is not as bad. I am having my surgery on the 24th and I only need two days of liquids before hand. to those people who had weeks of liquid diet pre surgery: I bow down to you. I’m on day ONE and I’m so fricken hungry. today I had: a shake for breakfast. A shake for lunch. A shake for dinner. And I had some broth in there as a “snack”. I don’t know if anyone else is this way, but when I get hungry and my stomach is empty I get super nauseous and sick to my stomach. Thank goodness I only have one more day of the pre op diet.
  7. I am right there with you. Mine is on the 24th. I have two boys but my husband doesn’t do kids well at all.... so my kids are spending the week with my parents while I recover. Eggfaces ricotta bake looks super good but that’s for later. I don’t like a lot of their options they gave me for when I am finally ready for real food, canned chicken ? Yuk. Tuna? Never going to happen. When I do finally get to real food the pulled rotisserie chicken package from Costco is really moist and I can freeze and pull as needed. I haven’t prepped a bunch of food yet. I am prepping some sugar free jello protein “shots” for post surgery. I have broths ready to go. Unflavored protein powder. I have some powdered potato (mix with broth and protein powder). My plan has me on liquids for at least two weeks post op. So I haven’t bought a ton of stuff yet. I figured I would buy as I need.
  8. Hi mark, you and I are surgery twins I will be having my vsg on the 24th as well. I just had my pre op appointment on Friday and my dr told me that I should be good to handle basic “mom duties” by Friday after surgery. (I am having my kids stay elsewhere for a week just in case). I am planning for worst case scenario just to cover my bases. I have been told my procedure will be outpatient. I will go home same day. I prefer sleeping in my own bed anyways. Hospital stays are the worst. The blood pressure cuff is my worst enemy. good luck to you mark!
  9. Did you speak to the dr that put you in the medication? Is a common side effect of that medication weight gain? that really sucks and it’s very disheartening. I would definitely appeal that decision

Met with the surgeon for pre-op today. He was super nice. I wish he would have done it over the phone though. That was a long drive in traffic to sit down and just sign consent forms. I had to do another round of labs which I did on the way back, unfortunately I got the lab person who must have JUST passed the exam because I have NEVER had a blood draw be so painful (and I get my blood drawn every few months for the last 18 years). I am PISSED. She stuck the needle in at the wrong angle (which hurt) then she proceeded to move the needle and get the correct angle while the needle was still inserted in the vein... that wasn’t a pleasant feeling either. SHe scratched the skin on my arm with the needle when she removed it after the draw was done. And it is now almost 9 hours later and my arm hurts like hell around the site but also in my forearm area and elbow. The bruising hasn’t shown up yet but I’m sure that’s next. if any of the nurses comment on it when I go in for surgery I will talk to someone about it, it was awful. on the plus side: my blood pressure has never looked so good at 113/79 I am going to go on clear liquids Monday and Tuesday. I don’t have to do the five day liquid diet. No food or drink Tuesday after midnight. Then surgery on Wednesday (still don’t have a time yet- nurse will tell me Monday ). Oh I also get a covid test on Sunday as well. I plan to make protein jello tomorrow to prep. I have my small cross body bag prepped with the few things I need. Countdown is on!!! 5 days!!!!

my pre op stuff seems to be more involved than baritheri (even though we are going through the same facility). But then I definitely have “the strict dr” so it is what it is. How much walking do you do baritheri? Do you actually do walking outside or do you just walk around your house? (I can get in about 3,000 steps a day because of my ankles and that’s when I feel good....😬)

I did my pre- pre - op class lol (so many hoops !) It was like the online classes only they went over stuff that you need to bring to the hospital, pick up and drop off instructions, things that may happen after surgery, food basics for the first serveral weeks, they showed pics of the facility, they talked about cross addiction, the incisions and wound care, etc. oh they also mentioned that you should take a picture of your Kaiser card and then have your person who is picking you up stop by the pharmacy and grab your meds while you are getting released. (Great tip!) So ....relevant info..... it wasn’t too bad. I also returned my wheelchair since I am walking better with the weight loss I’ve already had and don’t need it anymore. I have my pre op appointment with the surgeon on Friday (in person). I plan to make some protein sugar free Jell-O shots this weekend. I buckled and ordered some of the clear isopure drinks online because the premier protein isn’t good for clear liquids stage. (Isopure has phosphoric acid in it which I’m not supposed to have, but my phosphorus levels are lowered since May last year and a little bit just during the clear stage won’t kill me). in discussion during the online meeting I also realized that I might be too ambitious. I am getting surgery on Wednesday. My kids are spending the night elsewhere Tuesday-Friday. My plan was to pick them up on Friday but that only gives me a two day recovery before I’m in mom mode. Not to mention I’m not supposed to drive for a week. I don’t think that plan is realistic. So I made arrangements to have them stay with family until mid week the week after surgery. That will give me 1 week of recovery before I have to play referee between my 10 and 4 year old boys.

Ha! I’m so going to use this if he ever mentions it again. He prefers his dinner not burnt so I’m thinking he will keep his mouth shut from now on 😂

My husband over the weekend told me that after the 24tth I will be “cheating” to lose weight. Super angry about that. he has never been supportive of this and noticed my weight loss over the weekend as I was putting on leggings (he noted my legs were super skinny- aka- ankles NOT swollen twice their normal size). So many eye rolls here it’s a miracle I can still see straight. BUT: I am getting excited. It’s getting real! I have my class on Wednesday and pre op on Friday. And today is my last day of work until Mid/end April!!!!! (I’m a sub teacher and following surgery I will take two weeks, then the following week is spring break.... people don’t usually call in sick right after vacation so I will likely not get called until May). I am thanking my lucky stars I got in because they are doing another round of shut downs in Europe due to covid. The trend with the covid surges has typically been to hit Europe first then the USA. 😬

    I "snuck" having WLS

My surgery is next week. I have told my family (who are all supportive) and my best friend (also supportive) but no one else. the only one who isn’t really supportive is my husband. He told me over the weekend that as of next week I will officially be “cheating” to lose weight. I was livid. he has seen me at my worst where I couldn’t even WALK because the weight on my knees was too much (My BMI is about 38, but my joints are super bad). He refused to back down and insisted it was cheating. He is super insecure and is against the surgery. I’m against being held back anymore . 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Anyone getting sleeved 3/22?

I am almost with ya. I’m March 24th. arrington0711 I am close by. I’m in Orange County. I went through Kaiser so I had to do months and months of classes. Surgeries were canceled right when I finished in December and I am FINALLY moving along again. I’m lucky that I continued to lose. I have the really strict dr and I’ve heard he will not schedule you if you gain weight 😬

How are the food cravings? Do you have any? Is the liquid only thing rough going? I already know the no drinking around meals is going to be tough for me. it’s not shame really..... more like “protection”. Lol my in laws are super nosy and wield knowledge like a weapon. For some strange reason they think they have a right to be privy to my private medical information. In order to keep things easy we just don’t discuss that info. It’s a very odd situation. I’ve never been so blatantly disrespected by someone who shows absolutely zero remorse for crossing boundaries (repeatedly) . 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yup. I’ve heard that dr Kim is the strict one. That’s good to know for sure going in though. He was nice enough on the phone and sounded like he had great bedside manner (I’ve had some “great” drs that are jerks). Did they do an epidural at all or just knock you out through the IV? I’m getting super excited and counting down the days. My last day of work is Monday next week (have to do all those pre op things that week) and I’m in the process of trying to offload my duties (my kids, their school runs, easter that following week, etc). no one knows that I’m doing this beside my parents and my husband. Everyone else is under the impression I’m doing surgery to help my knees/ankles (not entirely a lie since the weight loss is intended to help with that purpose in mind).

Damn. How come I got the doc who lights his hoops you have to jump through on fire? Lol i have to actually go up to SEE him (no phone appointment- and let me tell you..., that’s a drive). Another class. A nurse phone appointment. And covid test. 😒

Bari did you have to do a class prior to surgery? they just scheduled me a pre op appointment on the 19th and then a “class” that I have to take on the 17th (virtual). We just did three months of classes..... not gunna lie, I was a little irritated that I had to do more 😑 a nurse appointment yet to be scheduled prior to surgery. plus a covid test also yet to be scheduled

I was looking into those but I saw on the ingredients list that it has phosphoric acid in it. That is a big nono for me. My dietary requirements are a tad more strict than most. I tried looking at a variety to see if they have one that doesn’t have phosphoric acid and I couldn’t find one. salt- big nono. sugar- nope phosphoric acid- big nono. my food is so bland lol.

Ugh. It was killing me too. I ended up messaging my case manager last week (just to let them know I’m ready and anxious because I haven’t heard anything) . That was Friday. And I got a call this afternoon. I was trying to not be pushy but I know they have been open since mid February. perhaps if I had called earlier I would have been scheduled sooner but at least this step is done. Next step surgery

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I just got scheduled for March 24th. my dr does not require a pre op diet. I just have to be on liquids the day before and no food or drink past midnight sort of thing. I am so excited! I started this process in March of last year and because of covid and delays it has taken this long to get this far ! because I am with Kaiser my process has been a bit different than others. I’ve had to do a weight loss program, classes, and counseling for months to prepare for this

I’m going through Kaiser South Bay with dr Kim. I am scheduled for the 24th and she will call me back to figure out the other dates for pre op appointments. I have to do one in person meeting with him (pre op) then another phone visit with a nurse prior to surgery (plus I’m sure covid testing as well). im so excited!!!!! It’s finally happening!!!!
