Unfortunately all post op instructions vary according to your surgeon's and dietician's guidance. I had sleeve surgery 7/27/20 and thia is the schedule I am on:
    Weeks 0-4: 1-2oz liquids every 15-30mins
Weeks 5-8: 3 tablespoons(1.5oz) puree..no red meat no veggies..cottage cheese consistensy. Very moist very soft
Weeks 9-6mos: 2-3oz (limit 1 oz fruit and veggies) ground beef okay now. No other red meat or starchy veggies (corn, peas, potatoes).
6months+: 4-6oz (1/2-2/3 of meal should be protein). All meat and veggies okay now. Limit starches to 1 oz.

40 days post-op and I tolerate these foods well and don't rely on my shakes anymore thanks to Isopure whey Protein isolate added to body armor lyte drinks. I was dying trying to drink pp shakes..they took me forever to finish. The body armor lyte is a thinner liquid sports drink:

    Day1--------------600 calories
    2 cheese sticks
    3 turkey sticks
2 16oz body armor lyte plus Protein powder
    2 16oz water

    Totals for day 1:
    Protein 77g (goal 60g-75g)
    Carbs 39g (goal 30g-60g)
Fat 28g (goal less than 30g)
    Sugar 4g

    Day 2-----‐-----------542 calories
    2 turkey sticks
    2 eggs
2 16oz body armor lyte with protein
    2 16oz waters

    Totals for day 2:
    Protein 72g (goal 60g-75g)
    Carbs 40g (goal 30g-60g)
Fat 22g (goal less than 30g)
    Sugar 6g

I had my one month post op last week and the dietician said im hitting all my goals but shed like me to only eat 3 times a day and drink Protein Shakes still in between bc im pretty much snacking on 1oz portions of food all day instead to meet my goals. I, too, feel like im lost and just wingin' it here trying to find what works for me. As long as the scale goes down im happy:) hang in there and ull figure out what works for u!

Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I’m having a terrible time getting all my protein in. Where do you get the body armor light drinks? What kind of Isopure do you put in. I got two bags of isopure, vanilla and plain I mix with Water & I can’t take it. Ugh.. I’m afraid my low protein levels are gonna hurt the whole purpose of getting the sleeve. Please help! 77 g is awesome.

This site was created with rules and safeguards so that it can remain a safe place, so most of the time it is.

Please report anything/anyone that doesn't meet the standards, that's the one of the ways to remove the negativity.

The other way is to create threads, find your "tribe" and cultivate safe spaces.

Be the change that you want to see ♥️

Green Tea is right as far as I see on here. The first time I came on here & 1st thing I read, somebody was shaming people for gaining weight during Covid lockdown. Green tea- you sure did stick up for every pound people gained all over the world due to Covid. You are just the best lawyer ever ! the way you stood up to that poster. They couldn’t even keep up your questioning because they knew they were so wrong. I admire you! I’m so hiring you if I ever need a lawyer! I noticed they took that post down. I’ve only seen a few others shaming but it’s usually the same poster. I’m pretty new here but otherwise I find real support from real people who care very much in supporting others. Please Don’t give up. P.S. I am having trouble filling profile after pushing to do later. Should I reregister with a different user name so I can put my info?

I had mine on September 25th and went in solo. Just breathe and relax. The doctors and nurses are there to care for you and you’ll feel their care. Ask them questions about themselves if you are feeling anxious. It helped me a lot. After the procedure I was so doped up I didn’t seem to mind being alone. You’ll sleep a lot. Stay calm and BREATHE. This is about you. Enjoy the trip!

I so agree. Because of Co-vid My husband dropped me off and picked me up late the next day. I was so doped up and sleepy, I don’t think I would have wanted anyone there. The nurses were wonderful walking me up and down the hall & the bariatric Coordinator came in and went over stuff & gave me info & then the nutritionist. I mostly slept & got used to sipping Water.

I would recommend you fill in your profile. Especially what type of surgery did you have and how long ago was the surgery. The fact that you are having great difficulty meeting your Fluid and Protein requirements is troubling. If your surgery was in the last few weeks that would be understandable because right after surgery the body is in a major heal mode, but if you are a few months out, it is of concern. So my first recommendation for fluids is to try hot fluids, such as a warm cup of hot tea. It may go down easier. Two weeks of being sick is also troubling. Are you over the sickness and if not have you seen your general practitioner. Many sleeve patients seem to have a problem with strictures several months out and the symptoms of inability to eat and drink is the primary indicator.

Also many people add flavoring to the Water (such as Crystal Light) to make the water more palatable.

Thank you so much. I am having issues filling profile bc I pushed “do later” so I may have to use other email & start over. Yes, as soon as that Persian cat somebody abandoned & was hiding in my basement was taken by my neighbor & she vacuumed everything my throat & eyes stopped swelling shut & opened pretty quick just very week. I find that the only way I can get the protein right now is Premier Protein I just found it. & I can get more than 2 tablespoons but I can do more than 2 tablespoons of water & my booklet says not more so I hope that doesn’t stretch my stomach . I had sleeve Sep 8. My main thing now is I need to get moving immediately. power walking & swimming a half hour is good but I’m too weak to go to Zumba or elliptical. So I just need to add 15 minutes to the 30 & so on. & put weights on my wrists. It’s a shame it will be too cold to swim soon. Oh & the crystal light is helping. Thank you so much & will work on profile!

My post was in response to a post made to me by sillykitty. As for you i just consider it an amazing feet that you could get such a dense item down at all lol i would hurl

Sorry, I’m new here and thought I was thought of as controlling but was trying to show 1% scary things happen so it’s not worth it is all. I ate a slice of turkey lunch meat and chewed forever. Sorry thought I came off as scaring people but the u-tube I put can scare people so I shouldn’t have. Television personality was fine after . I don’t think she was ready but wanted tv show so she probably learned her lesson. Doubt she’ll eat Taco Bell or pizza again. I’m just having trouble getting Protein and Water in bc was down for 2 weeks so sick. Can only get half an ounce of fluids so I’ll call surgeon tomorrow bc had sep 9 th. He knows I was I’ll tho. I know, I can hardly get an ounce of water down & protein makes me ill. Tomorrow’s a new day.

I dont like the people on here who try to control who can reply to posts just because they are further out in their journey that they think the new people shouldnt respond. But i will and i do! I dont really care for the food thread because its only a few people with nothing new.

I am amazed they can eat it cause i would hurl due to the density of the item 🌝 i had a nice hurl fest yesterday over a piece of fish when i ate the same tilapia most of last week. One girl on here at a cheeseburger and six nuggets impossible.... 🤢🤮

I’m sorry, I actual am on full liquids & didn’t mean to control anyone. It’s just kind of dangerous. My surgeon put me back from soft foods back to full liquids & I thought it might help people to try to see if it’s head hunger. Didn’t mean to seem like a know it all or controlling at all because I cheated. I won’t post anything or answer again. Sorry again.

  7. I’m glad I read this because I wasn’t told the hunger glands came back! I was set back 2 weeks because I’m deathly allergic to cats & my eyes & throat almost completely swelled shut so I didn’t exercise for 1st 2 1/2 weeks. I only lost 19 lbs including pre op shakes but I started walking and swimming yesterday. I hope I make it past honeymoon stage because my surgeon said I should have lost minimum 35 pounds in 4 1/2 weeks. I’m still having trouble with Water & shakes bc until the abandoned cat hiding in house was removed, I was pretty out of it. So I’m really just starting. So the lack of hunger only lasts 2 months? Ugh . I’m just glad I finally had the sleeve surgery so I have it in my head to really start serious again. It’s weird I didn’t lose laying in bed not taking much in because swollen throat. Second that Persian cat was removed to neighbors I was better fast. Thanks for everyone’s questions and advice on here.

Its not the first time ive seen it on here. Still amazes me that people can get it down

I’m so glad you’re okay but 6 days seems pretty soon. I don’t judge because 2 weeks out I ate a slice of turkey lunch meat. Chewed forever. I was on full liquids & Surgeon made me stay on it for 4 more days. Each of our WLS are like fingerprints, each person is different. What scared me into doing better is a TV show I like “Hot Mess House” & U-tube personality who does Clutterbug, & writes goals & day-timers Cassandra Aarssen almost died. Her liver started shutting down & she had to have her gallbladder out. She says towards the end it was because she ate Taco Bell and pizza. I know at one time or another we have all had something that’s not on surgeons list or had one bite too many, and almost everyone comes out okay but 1% may not. So we have to try to find something to stop the craving. I love the food before & after posts. Lots of good ideas on there. And thanks for y’all who are still on here to help us new WLS folks who are scared or need answers. Plus, It’s super nice of everyone who answers.

Hi everyone! I was sleeved 9/8 and I’ve had a painless recovery so I’m truly grateful for that. But I can’t drink barley anything. The only thing my body seems to tolerate is just plain warm Decaf tea. No plain Water, all the sugar free Welch’s and crystal lights are just too sweet now, apple juice, Gatorade, sugar free lemonades, nothing. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions on warm drinks that aren’t too sweet? Thanks I don’t want to end back in the hospital for being dehydrated.

These ideas are not really hot but might help room temp. I Had sleeve sep 8. Had 2 week setback bc abandoned Persian snuck in & hid. Was so ill my eyes swelled shut. Saw surgeon Tues. He said it’s important to get lots of plain H2O each day. If you like idea In pics U Can get disposable shot glasses at liquor store/amazon. Its motivating knowing I can do in 2 sips. I add Lots of H2O to crystal light, SF hot cocoa watered down w/skim milk, SF Jello. it’s runny but not near as sweet, low salt broth helps. But my saving grace is popsicles. U could put in blender with ice. I take H2O when I go out. Hope this is Helpful. He said Water also helps loose skin. Great motivation! Glad u have no pain. Sorry for typos & no caps Am Exhausted dealing with flood damage from TS Beta.

  10. Hi Missy & All! Am new here too. Had surgery Sep 8 . Hospital gave me 64 pill containers. I fill a tray & keep close bc it is overwhelming! I even fill w/sugar free Jello & yogurt. sugar free popsicles are my saving grace! I keep a Water pitcher close to refill because I can get really lazy. ( Only put that in case the mean, snarky guy on here replies hahaha!) U can Call Nurse or get plastic shot glasses at liquor store/Amazon or ketchup containers at fast food. No, bad trigger! DON’T do that! Amazon is better! (That will really get snarky guy going.omg! That character is funny if u haven’t experienced his dagger replies.) I gotta have humor bc cars are literally floating in street from Hurricane Beta. Haven’t seen or heard rain pelt down & flood like this since Harvey. Prayers for Texas please!! So glad I found this wonderful encouraging place!
