I had my surgery a week ago aug 12th and everything that you posted I am feeling the same way . I don’t want to eat and every time I even drink Water I get this pain under my breast bone . I’m so over broth and Protein Shakes. This pain under my breast bone comes and goes all day and I feel a sharp pain. At this point I’m thinking why did I do this to myself . Why couldn’t I just eat better . The pain afterwards is ridiculously painful and I just got over nausea because I had to go to the ER due to dehydration. My pain meds make my stomach pain and puts me to sleep. No one ever talks about the post op pain and I wish I would have known . I just want to chug a big glass of Water right now !! 😩😩😩😩

Omg I feel the exact same way! And I am afraid I will have to go to the hospital soon too because of dehydration. I literally decided not to eat or drink anything just bc of how it makes my stomach feel terrible. Even though I know I need to I just don't want to feel that feeling in my stomach. I feel weak constantly and I'm out of breath doing the simplest things that I never had trouble with before. And you're right they don't explain this part. I definitely feel like if I would have known exactly what it was like I would have never done it. But it does seem like in the long run everyone thinks is worth it.. WHEN WILL THAT FEELING COME FOR ME!!? And I feel the same about water that was literally all I drank 😩 can't even wake up and start my day of with it like I used to and make me feel refreshed.. I hate this soooo much 🥺🥺🥺

I felt that way for the first week after surgery. The first month I spent forcing myself to drink Water and my Protein Shake because I had absolutely no desire to eat or drink. The gas pain does get better. I’m 6 weeks post op and am able to eat and drink (separately, 30 minutes apart). I’m on fork tender foods now, and I still get the post op blues when some foods sit very heavy in my pouch. But it’s a learning process that doesn’t come overnight. You’re re-learning your body again and that takes patience and time. Give yourself a break and try to get as much Water and Protein in as you can.

I'm scared to force myself because I literally get sick when I have anything besides popsicles... smh I hate it

yes - it's common. But for most of us, it doesn't last long. The first few weeks can be rough - but once we're through them, most of us are really glad we made the decision. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

I'm just ready to feel like it's worth it because at this point I'm just so depressed about it 😔

I feel the same way. I'd like to think it's just the post-op blues, but I'm only just realising how difficult this lifestyle change is going to be. Before surgery I was blind to it all, didn't really face up to the realities of it.

I think I may have an eating disorder or a food-related phobia, it goes way beyond fussy eating - I am and always have been scared of most food textures and new things. I've literally gone days without food even when there's been food in the house, because I just couldn't face it.

The 'small portion, healthy diet' would be okay if I could eat that food but right now I don't see how I'll be able to. Seeing my doctor in a few days, hopefully he can refer me to a service that deals with this stuff.

If you're scared of most food what do you think caused you to be overweight? No judgement just wondering. And I also feel the same like I just want to eat.. even if it's healthy. At this point I felt like I could have just ate healthy and lost the weight on my own 😔

I was miserable after surgery. I hated it and started regretting everything that had happened. I didn't feel good and I wasn't doing good.

    However.

Once I started getting better, it wasn't so bad. The first few weeks are definitely the worst. Pre-op sucked because I just wanted to eat food, and the liquid and puree stages sucked because I just wanted to chew and EAT and feel normal again. And I do. And you will.

Are you eating/drinking separately (30 minutes apart)? Are you going slow? (small SMALL sips and bites) It's a lot of trial and error, learning what works. You are learning to function again. It is hard, but you will get through it.

And soon, you'll be able to eat that stuff. You'll be able to get your chicken and your salad. You did this for a reason, and you have to keep reminding yourself why. You'll get through the pain and discomfort, and you'll learn how to work your new stomach.

I'm very sorry you feel the way you do right now, but try to hang in there. You can do this, and you will get through it.

I appreciate the encouragement.. I do try different things with Water for some reason it still upsets my stomach smh but I hope it gets better soon

  6. Is anyone feeling like they made the worst decision ever by getting this surgery. I hate it right now honestly 😔 1 week post op I don't want to eat or drink anything. I literally have to force myself which I usually just end up not eating or drinking at all. I hate the feeling of a queezy stomach and that's all food or drink gives me as well as terrible gas pain. I'm starting to feel weak because I haven't been able to eat or drink but idk. I wish I never had it. I would kill to be able to just eat salad and baked chicken and healthier foods instead of having this surgery. I don't know why I didn't just eat healthy before then I wouldn't have to go threw any of this 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

  7. I definitely cheated probably 3-4 days on preop diet not consistently but sporadically. When I first started I was so hungry and I could only have liquids. I looked on the internet and saw other people's drs allowed them veggies and meat. So I had a salad with low fat dressing 2 of those days when it was super hard. One day I had Wendy's Breakfast tho. I had it about 6 days before surgery. The last time I cheated was 4 days before surgery then after that it was complete liquids. After surgery my dr said everything went great and he had no issues. I also lost 17pounds during the preop diet despite my cheating.

I had surgery on 8/11... not going to lie I had puréed tuna with low-fat mayo and lemon juice blended all together... it was amazing. I know it's a little early. But I did great with it surprisingly. Only ate about an oz though.

Blender first then a spoon too just to make sure it was super puréed. I also just tasted a bit and waited 20 minutes to see if I felt anything weird before I ate a regular portion.
