  1. Wow! It makes me really mad that your doctor would have an expectation of how much you should lose in a certain amount of time. What a jerk. Everyone loses at a different rate! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I had Loop DS and I'm required to get 90 to 110 of protein a day. I usually get around 100 most days. I'm almost 8 months post op. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Sick of Liquid Diet

The first 3 weeks post op were definitely the hardest for me. I hated all the protein shakes because my taste changed, and I was dying for something savory. Getting to purees was so great. I spent the whole time looking for recipes and it helped get me through. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stomach Gurgling

I had a Loop DS 6 months ago, and my stomach has become pretty noisy. It's better than it was the first month or so but it still makes quite a bit of noise Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

Thank you so much. You are doing amazing too and I'm so inspired by you and everyone here! I am so thankful for this forum! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. Yum. That sounds so good. I think I need to try that one! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Oh yeah these are great! My sweet husband got me some of these right after surgery because the only way I could stand the protein shakes was mixed with decaf coffee, and he thought these would add some flavor. It really helped! I normally like black coffee, but these are good when you want "fancy" coffee. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Facial Hair

I've had this for several years. My hair was already thinning, and had finally slowed down and now it's thinning from wls. I have a lot of hair on my chin. The weird thing is I have NONE on my legs anymore. I never had a ton of leg hair before, but I literally have not had to shave my legs in years. There is zero hair. The chin hair drives me nuts. I have a thing called Flawless on Amazon, which is like a little face shaver for women. [emoji2368] I am 49, so I suspect a lot of this has to do with starting menopause. 10. OK, I'm not in your situation, as I do have a husband and son and mom who were supportive, but I will say I really didn't need their help too much after surgery.. I never had much pain or trouble getting around, but I did have pretty bad nausea and some vomiting the first few days so I had to stay in the hospital 3 nights.. Once that was over recovery was pretty easy, although I did feel a little week the first couple weeks, but I drove myself to my fu appt. A week after surgery and had no problems. Of course, everyone is different. I had the Loop DS surgery. I'm sorry to hear you don't have support though. For me, emotional support is what I needed more than anything. Know that at least you can get that here. Everyone is so helpful! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

Congratulations to everyone on all your amazing progress!! Wow! You're all doing fantastic. I have lost 102 pounds since surgery and 124 overall, and I'm feel so good..I'm 268 now, and I hope I can get to onederland. I haven't been there since 1997! I weighed 263 when I got pregnant 10 years ago and I'm getting close to that! At my 6 month check up all my labs were good, but most importantly my liver enzymes were close to normal. This made me so happy. Having NASH was the biggest reason I chose this surgery and I really feel good to see that it is working! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Clothes etc

My only regret is that a couple years ago I donated bags and bags of 2x clothes because I never thought I would get down to that size again. I am in that size right now and could be using those! Seriously though, I have been getting rid of all my 4 and 5x clothes. I have a few things that ran small that I'm still wearing but I have given most of it to my best friend and the rest to Goodwill. Even if the worst case scenario were to happen and I gain all my weight back, I'll just have to buy new clothes. [emoji2368] Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Covid Vaccine

I got my first vaccine and I am scheduled for my second dose Sunday. My arm was a little sore the day after the shot but other than that I had no side effects. I'll update after my second one Sunday. Even if you do get side effects, they only last a day or two and it's a sign your immune system is doing what it's supposed to. SIPS procedure coming up

I had my Loop DS on July 23, 2020. I am 5'3" and my high weight was 393. I was 368 the day of surgery and as of today I am 269 at a little over 6 months out. I stayed 3 nights in the hospital because I vomited the first few days (it was old blood). I really never had much pain, and after the nausea and vomiting was gone recovery was pretty easy. I feel amazing and I'm so glad I had the surgery. I had originally planned on the RNY but switched surgeons and the one I saw recommend Loop DS. I hadn't heard of it until he recommended it and he is the only one in my area who does it. I'm so glad I went to him! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    I'm Freezing

I was really hoping to turn into a cold person, and maybe I still will because I have a lot of weight still to lose, but at 6 months out I feel pretty much the same as I always did at this weight (269, I started at 393). My whole life even at my lowest weight of 153 and even as a normal weight kid, I was always not natured. It's cold here in Missouri right now and I do use a down comforter at night, but I still get hot toward morning. I'm definitely far less hot than at 393 lbs though, so I'll take it. I'd rather be cold than hot any day! I've always hated to be hot! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I know for me, I do feel hunger, but it isn't the raging hunger I had pre-wls. I used to get positively hangry, and it was awful. Now when I get hungry it takes so little to satisfy it and then I'm good for a few hours at least. It's amazing to me! I had Loop DS 6 months ago. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Fruit/Veggie Skin

I have been eating skins on fruits and veggies since they allowed it, which was around 8 weeks I believe. I've never had any problem at all. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. I had it before wls.. Someone already correctly said its gustatory rhinitis. I have had it for about 20 years and it's very annoying. I also have allergies so my nose runs a lot. [emoji849]I'm on Flonase and Astelin nasal spray and they help. It happens to me with cold or hot food; any chewing whatsoever. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Trash Article- Venting.

I always KNEW it wasn't my fault I couldn't lose weight successfully. Over the years I picked up so many healthy eating habits that stuck with me, and ate healthier than most people I know, and still was fatter than all of them. I still saw myself as a failure for never being able to lose weight and keep it off. The surgeon who took out my gallbladder recommended wls to me and I'll never forget him saying it is almost impossible for someone, especially the bigger they are, to lose weight and keep it off, and surgery resets all of that. His words were so validating. I had considered wls for years but never seriously until he said that to me. I made my appt. with a bariatric surgeon that day. It's so different now that I've had surgery. I actually see results for my efforts and I couldn't be happier. It really upsets me when I see articles that tell people that weight it basically all within our control, because it really is not. I'm not staying our habits don't have anything to do with it, because they do, but it's so much more complicated than that. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
