I had robotic gastric sleeve surgery in August. On my doctors site he had a video showing how it’s done. Very interesting.

Check in:
Eating wise I’m doing well. It’s been an adventure discovering new foods. I still have days where the old eating thoughts creep into my head and I just ignore them as much as I can. I also had an asthma flare up and was prescribed prednisone. My pouch wanted to eat any and everything but o had to explain to her we can no longer do that and she seemed to get the hint. How is everyone else doing? Ready for the holidays? -
Take small sips. They gave me medicine cups and I sipped from those. When I went home if I tried to take more than a sip I would be in pain. As the weeks went on it got better. As far as tips and advice just take it one day at a time. No day is the same and give yourself grace during this time. It’s a whole NEW way of living and eating.

Saw my surgeon and told him about the discomfort. He said it’s most likely due to a stitch that hasn’t popped yet. He also put me back on stool softeners as well. Hopefully this and the prunes will get things going in the right direction. How is everyone doing?

Thank you for giving me that final push. I’ve been hanging on to my XXL and now I can get rid of them.On 10/07/2020 at 18:13, ChubRub said:
Get rid of them!! In the future, after you are at goal, if you gain a few pounds and your clothes feel tight, it will be incentive to lose the weight. Having bigger clothes as a Plan B, means that you have a Plan B. No Plan B! LOL!! Only Plan A which is success!!

Surgery twins! Congrats on the weight loss. There is a food grocery board in this site and I’ve been getting new food ideas from there since I was getting tired of eating the same thing every day. I’m also going to try prunes and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.On 10/10/2020 at 14:21, debsgallery said:
Congratulations! I had sx on 8/19/20 and have gone from 241 the day of surgery to 212 today. Tired of eating the same things every day but happy to see the weight loss. I went from a 3xl top to an xl and a 4xl bottom to a 2xl. I also have the straining or not at all problem but found out that more Water and two prunes a day are helping. Hope you get help too.

Not bad. Incision site is still a little tender but I always tend to recover slowly. Tolerating foods well. I’m going to the bathroom but find myself straining. Seeing the doctor on Tuesday and hopefully he will have some suggestions. I went from a XXL to XL. Still feels surreal. How are you?On 10/07/2020 at 20:43, Corrine2020 said:

Hi, I’ve been lurking for a few weeks while I was waiting to start my general diet stage. I had ate this for breakfast this morning and it was really good. Breakfast has been a struggle and this was a nice addition. Thanks for recommending. On 08/06/2020 at 15:53, ChubRub said:GreenTealael and ChubRub reacted to this -

Thank you! The dreaded third week stall. I hope you have a smooth transition to soft foods. On 09/25/2020 at 07:37, Topaz_Black said:
Happy belated birthday! I returned to work on Monday, so I haven’t had as much time on the boards as usual. Still adjusting to my schedule, but so far so good. I’m able to work from home, but still demanding and long hours, but finding my grove.
i hit the infamous week three stall, but otherwise doing good with purées, after a rough first two days with transition. Look forward to advancing to soft foods.

The two weeks prior to surgery I lost 20lbs, the week after surgery I lost another ten. But I’ve not lost any weight in 3 weeks. This experience has been really challenging as I had very bad reactions to the pain medication that put me back in the hospital. Then just recovery, it’s been rough. It’s a mind f@@@ when I’m not even loosing weight. I’m doing what’s been told to me to do and yet nothing. It feels like it was all for nothing.
Hi, Sorry to hear about the stall. If you put stall in the search engine you will see that this has happened to many members on here and I'm sure there will be plenty of helpful tips. I had a tough recovery as well and just try to take it day by day.

Shower chairs are expensive so I just purchased a smaller chair from Telco and have been using that when I shower. Some days I don’t need it but when I’m having a tough day it comes in handy.

Yesterday was my birthday and it was definitely different. My husband took me out to dinner and knowing that I now have a four bite max threshold, majority of my dinner was put in a to go box lol. food has definitely changed for me now but being that I'm down 26 pounds, I'm not complaining! 😊
Happy Birthday!!!

Hey All,
I’m officially one month post op. Aside from some minor issues the first two weeks things have been progressing smoothly. I’ve graduated to regular foods and have been tolerating them as well. Today is my birthday and I must say it will feel weird not to have my traditional birthday meal and cake but I’m thinking about all the birthdays I will now gain instead. How is everyone doing on their journey?Zom B reacted to this -

The first few days were terrible. I can't even lie to ya. On the bad days i just wen tot bed early. During the second week things got a little better but I missed food so much. Also try not be around anyone eating food. I would lock myself up in my room during dinner so I wouldn't be tempted.

Same thing happened to me as well. I was given a surgery date of 8/19 in July. I was nervous but it only took the insurance company a week to approve my surgery. Hoping you have the same outcome.

I lost 16 pounds I did eat from time to time (which was approved) because I had bad dizzy spells and the blood pressure pills only made them worse.

I have asthma but I have a slew of medical issues due to my obesity. Even after having the surgery last month I still take my asthma meds and use my rescue inhaler so I’m curious how you got off those so quickly especially is your asthma is serve? Would it be nice to breathe better? Sure would but I did this surgery for my high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre diabetes, sleep apnea, joint pain etc.

My program recommends one protein drink/shake a day while on the soft food diet and that is how I am able to meet or some times go pass my protein goal for the day. My goal is 60. Once I move on to general diet I was told I can cut the shakes/drinks out if I can reach the protein goal on my own each day. I still think I will keep the Protein Powder in the house just in case.On 09/14/2020 at 11:43, SideOfSunny said: -

Perfectly normal and I found out 2-3 weeks after my surgery I was able to drink more. Just keep taking small sips. With my program I didn't have to worry about protein until later on so I mainly had water, Jello, broth. Hang in there it will get better!
