I am heading into my 13th year after VSG. I come back here from time to time, when I need to touch base with folks who "get" it. I only shared my WLS with a very very few people; and people who have met me in the last several years of course do not know.... and I do not talk diet with anyone really. I talk about being healthy, eating intuitively and things like that. I being my lunch to work and if my staff want to order in lunch - I let them pick and then I find something that I am okay with. burgers ? Fine. I don't get fries. I cut the burger in half, eat a few bites of the burger and then take it a part with a fork and leave the rest of the bread. And I have half a burger for dinner.
Coming back here from time to time allows me to re-center myself. And when it is time to lose a couple pounds or if I have lost some more, I come here and update my ticker, and this is a safe place to come back to. I too let about 40 pounds creep back on and a few years ago came back and documented my slow but sure weight loss of... now 50 plus pounds. I started 14 years ago at 320, got down to 175. went back up to 220. Now at 165. I purposely took my time to lose the weight. My goal was to lose 10 pounds a year. I lost 45 in two years, and then took another break for a couple years... have lost 10 pounds in the last 6 or 7 months. I am beyond pleased. I will be 67 in a couple months.
You can do this ! And don't beat yourself up over it. Be gentle with yourself.

This WHOLE ENTIRE POST IRKS ME. Funny how, a person who has been Obese, has the audacity to get on WLS Forum to ridicule people on their journey. You are still in your honeymoon phase of your surgery and Good For You, that you lost your excess weight, and Good For You that you had the "mental stamina" to achieve your goals and Good For You that you are "healthy and skinny". But without your WLS surgery, would you be able to stand on your high horse and scream down to the people who were once in the same boat about their struggles? This Forum, from what I know, is to help people on their journey; good, bad or indifferent. I personally, like the authenticity of posts, where people are brave enough to admit their struggles and downfalls. At least, they are willing to admit their faults and seek help. You never know what post can help somebody with the same issue. Everyone that has gone through a WLS are well aware that this road is NOT easy. This community already receives, judgement, criticisms and ridicule from other people. It's just a hard pill to swallow when its one of our "own".

pretty-in-pink reacted to S@ssen@ch in For those of you long time sleevers 1yr+, I have a question
I'm about 2.5 years out. I can pretty much eat anything, just in smaller quantities
I can eat 1 egg and 1 piece of toast, that's it I can eat 1 cup of old-fashioned oatmeal I can eat 1 individual serving size container of yogurt (I eat Skyr and mix in chia seeds, 1 TBSP Unjury, and 1 TBSP granola) I can eat half of just about any sandwich (maybe more if it's sandwich bread, but definitely half for bun-type sandwiches)(I DO NOT eat "sub" sandwiches, nor have I tried) I can eat 1 piece of regular sliced pizza. I can eat 1 taco (hard shell and soft shell varieties) and maybe have room for a couple bites of rice/beans. I can eat about a cup of any meal for dinner (this includes separate meat or a casserole-type. Even pasta.) If I'm having a soup/salad combo, I can eat about 1/2 cup of Soup and sometimes half of the sandwich (depending on who made the sandwich) I can eat about 1-1.5 cup of a tossed salad as long as I don't have too many "fixins" on it like meat and I don't do croutons. I can eat 1 small apple, banana or about a cup cubed melon/fresh pineapple/etc. That's only if I'm eating it alone. If I'm eating it with a meal/as my dessert, maybe a couple bites. I can eat much more popcorn than I care to admit. It's like it dissolves in my belly and next thing I know I've eaten like 3 cups. So, I portion it out and when I empty my portion/container, I'm done. I CAN drink small sips of soda, but I don't. Same goes for champagne. (which I REALLY like as a Mimosa) I can eat about 1 cup of ice cream (hard and soft varieties), then I hit my STOP point. And overall, I still have to eat pretty slowly. If I go into auto-pilot and start shoving things in my mouth to quickly or don't chew fairly well, I have pain/discomfort.
