5 minutes ago, JustLynn said:I had a VSG in January 2019 with Dr Fitzer. I ended up with a complication and stayed at Reston for just over 6 weeks, but Dr Fitzer was amazing and his entire staff (and the AMAZING nursing staff and Roz at RHC) were great. Complications happen but Dr Fitzer and his personality made it as good as it could have been. I am fully recovered and my weightless is right on track. I still recommend him to people that ask.
Mind if I ask what your complications were?

Thank you both! I watched his youtube video last night as required and and really liked his style and personality. He definitely came across as over confident but I don’t mind that!

I will - is there something specific that is commonly missed?

I know this thread is old but if anyone is still around I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I did a search on medstar (which so far I had not been totally impressed with) and found this thread. Called Dr. Fitzer's office and have a consultation in 2 days!

Hi there. I've started the process and am curious to hear from those who have had the surgery regarding timelines. I know the ultimate answer is "it varies", just trying to hear experiences so I can know what to expect.
My insurance only has one requirement, which is evidently pretty rare (she double checked twice) - my BMI. I meet that criteria. Given this, I'm curious if my timeline for possible surgery will be shorter or if I should anticipate the 6ish months most people experience.
Thank you!
Anyone use Dr. Fitzer at Virginia Bariatric?

How long did you all have to stay in the hospital after surgery? I'd love to hear about your process and how things went if you're willing to share.
