Stomach pains
Day 1 here and in the same boat. I have not experienced nausea, which I feel good about. However, like you, everytime I sip, I get small pain in the stomach. I am sipping every what seams like 10 minutes things like broth, Powerade Zero, and flavored water. We can do this!

Sent home after 7 hours!
Today was my surgery. Their scale said I weight in at 249. Bummer. So let me just say, the recovery was the hardest for me. But as the hours went on, it got easier and easier. I walked twice. It was suppose to be overnight, but they only granted elective surgery, due to covid, if it was an outpatient. I still have not vomited, so crossing fingers. I do feel little rising up pains after I drink. I am drinking pretty much every 10 minutes, sips. Broth, Gatorade Zero, Water. My doctor also said he repaired a hernia I had! I can't wait for the results! Do yall weigh yourselves? I think I need a new scale.

The nerves are setting in
I go in tomorrow for my surgery. Nervous, Nervous, Nervous and trying to pass the time and keep my mind busy, because it's nothing but fluids today. My husband will be about to enter with me and meet me at recovery, but not allowed once I get a room. This replies are helping me out, like you can't believe.

Injecting Blood Thinner?
Hey Yall, Up until I spoke with my doctor a week ago about my post-medications, I had no idea about a blood thinner. He made a comment like, "the nurses will teach your husband how to inject you." I picked up my medication already and sure enough I saw syringes. So my question is, is this norm and required. He said it's to prevent blood clots. He said I will have to do it for a week. Is this negotiable, if i make sure to "move." and walk. Sleevers, were you asked to do this?

Newbie on my Journey ... did you keep your journey a secret
Thanks! I was thinking that there had to be something about confidentiality in place.

Newbie on my Journey ... did you keep your journey a secret
Hey Nikki, I have the same surgery date. I was told the same thing about visitors, pretty much after recovery, my husband needs to leave. That doesn't bother me. I'm more nervous about the covid test the day before than the actual surgery. As far as telling people, I told one coworker and my boss, just in case. My parents know but I'm trying to keep it from my husbands family. They gossip all the time. I just don't want to be apart of it. I do have a dilemna. His sister works in the surgical wing of where I'm getting it done. I think I decided just to go with the flow and if I see her, I will have the discussion. They all have anxiety on that side and I don't want the attention, brought on by "going under."

Not in the same boat, but I am on day 5 of that same diet. No constipation issues here. Best of Luck to you on your surgery.

When did you get back to exercise?
For all the sleevers, when were you able to get back into exercise? I want to avoid saggy skin. When did you heal fully where you could walk/run? When did you add in cardio?

PreOp Diet- Just Started
Hello, I had my pre-surgery labs done yesterday and today marks the two week countdown. My surgery was cancelled once and literally the next day, they rescheduled me for the same day. If anyone has their surgery date in or around July 16th, or starting their pre-op diet today, please msg me. My diet consists of 2 protein shakes, 64oz of water, 4oz with non starchy veggie and Sugar Free popsicles/Jello (if I need it). I hope to be more present in the near future on this site, since I need something to pass the time. But it is great reading about people preop and postop.

Optum/UHC Choice Plus BRS Nurse ?
I have UHC too and went through Optum. I had to enroll and they required 6 dietitian visits, EGD, Labs, and seeing a therapist. I got a phone call right from my Dr.'s office after my last dietitian visit and the nurse tells me I will be denied if I don't call UHC right away before 5pm. I called UHC and they told me they unenrolled me because I missed a call back in February. My dietitian didn't really ask for weight since it was via phone, I'm guessing. But in the beginning I remember hearing I need to lose 5%.
