I agree = if you are losing steadily and well, leave it
Great job on the 50!

I'm a stay at home of four (who were all on summer break and one is a baby, one is a toddler) and I was back to "work" in two days. I was banded Wed, home on Thurs, had a sitter helping me on Friday and half of Sat and by Sat night I was driving and moving but still pretty tired. My last day on pain meds was Sat so I think 3 full days of rest should put you back to normal but everyone is different.

No I have never had that and would definitely recommend you call your DR right away. I think shortness of breath and chest pain is pretty serious. It may be nothing but call to be sure.

I truly believe that staying away from sugar in all forms helps to curb cravings. I love sweets, but know that once I indulge it is hard to stop. I was banded on 7/2/08 and have lost 35 pounds by following a low carb plan as much as possible. I also believe that fats in moderation help keep the skin looking better. Drinking lots of Water helps as well. Good luck on your journey. :smile:I totally agree! :frown:

I think it's about what you are eating and definitely moving...I agree with what everyone is saying but I would also examine the foods...a soft potato is nowhere near as good as a nonfat yogurt or a 100 calorie shake. "Normal" foods should still be very, very lean and good in choice and carb/sugar content. I had a great dietitian - did you? She helped me work out a "mush" diet that has very, very low carb and sugar. She said two tbls of hummus with a couple of crackers can be 300 calories - where cottage cheese and tuna is more like 80 and certainly easier to take calorie/fat/sugar wise.
I would talk to the dietitian just in case and make sure you are making the right choices and get moving...I am forcing myself to walk everyday and I do believe that has really helped. I'm so new so I don't have anywhere near all the answers but we did have a great DR office with a lot of pre op meetings and orienatation.

For me it's about a life decision and my "life diet" won't involve high sugar/high carb choices. The occasional indulgence is going to be normal at a party or a function but overall my life will be about low calorie and healthy choices and frankly, lean meats and fish, fruit and vegs and whole grains is just a healthier lifestyle. I gave up soda for tons of Water and though I feel  with all water guzzling, it wil become habit and be better for me. I look forward to craving healthier foods and opting for low calorie and low sugar in my normal life routine verus gritting my teeth over a menu.

I don't smoke pot because I have children...anyone who has them or who is around them shouldn't do anything that impairs judgment. I am far less worried about the band than I am about putting children at risk.

Where were you banded?
-
They made me stay overnight though I have no idea why - the nurses were useless there. I was banded in Fairfax - Fair Oaks hospital by Dr. Tran. It was good but he never went to tell my husband I was out and fine so he was a nervous wreck.

I can't believe it's over! Or really, it's just beginning! I think I've lost about 6 lbs but the home scale, DR scale and hospital scale are all different so who knows...it's all a loss though!
Today is the first day I feel almost pain free since Wed so it took about 3 days to get this way. Not bad. I drove yesterday but that might have been a bit much. I do have four kids - it's crazy here!
Anyway - I am bored with liquids but doing it and sipping all day. ugh! Just made a huge online order with bariatriceating.com - great site.
How is everyone else doing???
-
I didn't need a pre op diet either. I was banded three days ago and am fine. I was also at a Bariatric Specialty hospital and my nurse had bypass 5 years ago...I'm fairly certain they knew what they were doing.

Go to mytricare.com but you have to be registered there (not on tricare, on mytricare.com) but tricare told me their coordinator doesn't post approved until AFTER surgery (figure that out) - I was approved a week ago and my authorization still says "in process". I think every office is a bit different.
I was told they tell the DR if I was approved so I called in and the nurse said they just faxed the approval. I was on with tricare just minutes before and she didn't have any information. Screwy system but I was approved so I didn't care!:biggrin2:

Actually I said that wrong - it is Woodbridge that was terrible but Vienna has been awesome. i am so sorry about Ginger. I am going with the lap band - heard too many bypass stories and am scared of it.
-
Tricare let me know in about a week - it was the nurse at the DR office that took forever.

So happy for you. I'm an airforce wife and I also am scheduled for Aug 27 here in Northern VA (DC area).
I can't really tell you I love being the fat girl - I think I hate it more than life. After four babies and never really getting caught up in between, I am more than excited to go back to the way I was (and better!) over 10 years ago. My husband is wonderful and yes, loves me however I am but he wants me to love me too and I just don't now. I think it's unnerving and scary for sure but I am fantasizing about being able to run around with my kids for years to come, to no longer worry about having a heart attack, to be in a bathing suit and feel fabulous, to not worry about embarrassing my kids, to just being healthy and yes, okay I admit it...a hot mom of four.
Good luck to you!

I'm awaiting approval through Halmi also...so far I like them. A bit disorganized at the Vienna office but Woodbridge is on top of things.

Hi!
I'm Tricare North (retired Air Force) and my information was submitted yesterday morning so I am waiting very impatiently.:rolleyes2:
The doctor's office said they are scheduling for late July/early Aug so once the approval is in, I can have surgery in just over a month.
Any denied on Tricare???

From Fairfax - not orthodox but conservative and always loving to meet other Jews - especially on this journey.

I am waiting on my psych eval (already did the session - just waiting on paperwork) and I'm told my insurance will approve and I can have surgery in as little as 3 weeks!
I just had my fourth child so naturally I am ready to get my body back.
I love reading all the posts and am looking forward to getting and offering support!

I can't eat any bread or Pasta or rice as it gets stuck - I think I am "overfilled" because I have only been able to eat Soup and shakes. ugh.
