Well I have officially found Onederland! I got on the scale his morning and almost freaked out and woke everyone up when it said 198.0. Yes I did it . I have not been below 200lb since elementary school age. Crazy I know. I have found exercise I actually am happy doing and can’t wait to get out of be and do everyday. I bought a sunny health spin bike and downloaded the Peloton app and I am obsessed big time. I now look forward to waking up at 5:30 am and exercising. Wow! I still have 48lbs to hit my goal weight but I think I am just know starting to enjoy this journey. So how is everyone doing? This chat has been pretty quiet for a long while. Hope everyone is great and experiencing great things on there journey.

I am so excited for you and wish you all the best! Almost hit the 80lb goal and like you feel excited and enjoy walking . The Onderland was a major motivator for me too!!! Keep Believing in yourself!! Congratulations!!!

  2. Not sure where you are all at. I see my nutritionist virtually every month. I paid for an app called VHPGO which allows me to text questions any time. There are also fitness classes and support groups. Just wanted to share this resource.

my surgery was 7/7/2020. Down 66lbs. My team was happy with my progress. I agree 65 is not Only that is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!

So questions everyone from July surgery 2020 what kind of exercises are everyone doing? I have very bad hips and have cortisone injections in both and can’t do things that would have any kind of impact. I walk on my Gazelle every morning but my loss is very slow oh and my surgeon doesn’t want me doing an workouts or lifting nor then 10lb because I had a very bad hiatal hernia repair with mesh had to be used. So does anyone have some suggestions. I have espresso with my Protein Shake every morning for Breakfast and then 3oz lunch n 3 oz dinner and some time a snack in between. But I feel I may need to move more even though it is hard or painful.

Have you tried peddling? There are small Floor devices that allow you to pedal while sitting . I use 1 and 2lb weights to workout my arms. Hang in there!

Another question for everyone, Has anyone noticed after you eat. Do you ever have the feeling of your food stuck in your chest or do you ever feel like you need to bring it back up??? Any suggestions on what to do???

Absolutely. Get up and walk. Take some deep breathes. Do not drink although you will be tempted to do so . Focus on chewing each piece . At first I put my fork down between bites to force the new eating /chewing.

  5. Happy Anniversary to the July 7th surgery pals! We did it and survived the craziest of times:) I for one have had ups, downs and some emotional trials and now know it is worth it. 34lbs down! Hitting the ones again is so close ... my next goal:) Got the good ahead to include more seafood and actually laughed about how happy that made me. What a difference one decision and learning to push myself has made. Congratulations to everyone and keep pushing especially for those with the bathroom issues bc I for one know how that is really painful.

IWantthedream... sending you extra words of encouragement! You pushed thru preop and surgery and hit an obstacle. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."- Michael Jordan

you got this! Don’t let the scale dictate your success . Be proud of all

Oh, yes! When I woke up from surgery, I was in so much pain and had many thoughts of, “Why did I do this to myself?“ and, “I would give anything to go back to yesterday and not go through this pain.” I had a miserable couple of days, but I recovered quickly. I’m one week out today and feel mostly back to normal. I hope you feel better soon, too!

Absolutely!! Two weeks out and while life is different, emotionally I am feeling much more confident in my decision. I also understand that it is very normal. Push thru! Rest! Hang in there it does get better!

My surgery was July 1st. I am down approx. 30lbs. It’s been different. I had an allergic reaction to my Vitamins, but other than that, adjusting well. I am at the puréed stage and that has been a huge relief! I am ready for a real meal though! Hope everyone is doing well and are having success!

Congratulations!! I was sleeved on July 8th and down 24lbs. You made my day by sharing how much you lost and giving me hope:) The Vitamins make me gag but I get them down. I agree this is different. I am in purée stage too . Getting a little tired is ground chicken and eggs but it is worth it! Please share any good recipes !

Question for everyone that has had there surgery. Do any of you have numbness in the center of your stomach. I have a line in the center of my abdomen that is about four inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide that is like numb it feels like you know when you get dental work done and they numb you and that feeling in your check that’s what it feels like. Does anyone else have this or am I strange.

I don’t have that. That is strange.

I was just sleeved 07/16/2020 originally scheduled for 05/21/2020. So far it’s sore and a chore to stay on top of my liquids

I was sleeved on the 8th. Much better after 3-4 days so hang in there! Moved to purée food and starting to navigate that which can be pretty daunting to watch everything you use to cook with but definitely doable and worth it! Shocked about weight loss and is seems unreal. Walking really helps even though in the beginning it was really tough:) good luck

Hello everyone hope everyone is doing good especially all us post ops. Listen I had something that just hit the spot today n I thought I would share because I have been struggling a bit I cannot seem to get enough Protein n Fluid in it’s like there isn’t enough time in the day. But I had to drop my child off at work today and there was a Dunkin Donuts on the other side of the highway so I stopped in the drive threw and got a small iced Decaf with sugar free vanilla flavor shot in it. I took it home and added 4 oz of fair life vanilla Protein and a half packet of trivia. Oh my gosh it was fantastic. It took me like an hr to drink but it was amazing. Just thought I would share. Talk to you all latter!🙂

Thank you the suggestion! Hope all is well!

New Jersey. I have had my gallbladder removed and I had block bile ducts and was bright yellow. It was same day surgery and I was fully active right after. No pain. I don’t know maybe it’s my age I am 47. I don’t bounce back like I used to. I called surgeon and waiting for a call back. Thank you

Wow.. you are young :) I am sending prayers your way! Don’t give up!

Hello all! I had VSG and a hiatal hernia on July 7 at 7:30. I have not had a great experience. I came out of surgery and couldn’t walk let alone had trouble standing on my right hip (which is bad already) I walked into the hospital no pain in my hip that morning. So I think that it was from transferring me from bed to or table n back to bed. So I think they gave me something to knock me out on my way to or because I remember about a minute of the journey n then nothing until recovery and then they brought me to my room a few minutes latter. Once settled in my room I wanted to sit in the chair and when I tried to walk on my leg it gave out. I did not fall but almost. The pain has been way way way more then I thought. I have a very high pain tolerance and this has knocked me on my but. When I lay down in bed (which is extremely painful to even get in) I can only stay there for like three hrs n when I wake up the one spot on my stomach that is bad is burning and in so much pain. That spot the brushes are now yellow n look better and it’s not on fire anymore but it is still warm. When I stand there is pulling and burning and pain and you can feel a sm ball size bump under it. I am going to call surgeon but I’m afraid there is something wrong and I don’t want to have to go back into surgery and have more pain all over. I regret this sooooo much. I really wish I had not done this.😢 has anyone else had any of these also. Not the hip that is back to normal it took five days but that as go as will be.

I felt the same way the night after surgery. Cried, gagged and thought what the heck did I just do. Many people go thru this. Pain, exhaustion takes away the dreams you had prior to surgery. Don’t give in!! Call the docs! You deserve support and you will feel better over time! Breathe, find a friend you can let it all out with! You are stronger then you think. I am in NY where are you?

Today is the big day, I'll be having surgery in 6 hours! This is probably going to be the longest wait of the past year.

Good luck to everyone else who is having surgery today. I know our surgeons will do an excellent job and pray that we will all recover quickly.

    💜

Carlz - sending you well wishes and a speedy recovery.

Just had my surgery on the 7th..... I’m feeling very shamed and regretful..... I’m happy I did this surgery excise I’ve been putting it off for months but I keep having the thoughts that I could’ve lived with the extra weight. Yeah I was diagnosed as obese and it affect me physically, and emotionally.... but even so I still feel like I made a bad decision with the sleeve. I’m only a couple days post op so maybe that’s why I’m feeling like this. I’m having gas pain and I’m really struggling to get down my liquids. I’m often wondering when will I be able to eat normally? How much will I be able to eat? I don’t want to live life being conscious of what I’m eating and only eating 2-3 small bites of food.... how am I gonna go to a restaurant with friends and can barely finish my plate and everyone is noticing me. My mother had the same surgery and is doing good but she eats a small amount... even before surgery I didn’t really eat much, I barely finished my plate but I always had small amounts. I guess this restriction will be good for me but I’m worried that I won’t be able to eat “normally” :( I’m probably feeling this because I just had surgery huh??

Hope you are feeling more positive 👍 This is my day 4 of postop. I read your post and felt the same. When in pain and exhausted, you can loose your way. BUT YOU GOT THIS!
I wanted to share this great recipe:https://bariatricbits.com/pureed-classic-egg-salad/

Little things can make you smile and I was struggling with what to eat before Bc I was surrounded by fake salad eaters and I felt uncomfortable eating what I wanted Ed and not salad and now post op I was stuck . My food will be different but my simple pleasures will be plentiful bc I won’t be a diabetic or obese or any other health related issue that causes me to sit out of the fun or spend more time with doctors then I do with friends. I would also rather eat 4oz of chicken, steak and turkey then a salad any day!! Hope that made you laugh! Have a great day!

I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. My surgery isn't until next week, so I can't tell you from my own experience, but when I am having doubts, I like to look at before and after pictures for inspiration.

    https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/241042-before-and-after-pics/

There are so many people on this forum whose lives have changed for the better because of WLS. Before I decided to have WLS, I actively looked for people who regretted their WLS so I could make sure to weigh the pros and cons, and they are hard to find because the overwhelming majority of people who share their WLS stories say that it's all worth it.

I don't know about you, but for me (and most people), it was a long process to get approved for the surgery and complete all of the requirements. You've had a long time to think about it, and I'm sure you had really good reasons to do it. Trust yourself and your judgment! Hang in there! I bet you will feel better once you start to see amazing results.

BigSue it is common to feEl the way you feel. I had my sleeve on the 8th and all of sudden felt like what the heck did I do this for.. Journal bc on tough days you can go back and read why you made these decisions. I am worried about having fun again too... but I also know that soon I can fly and feel comfortable, but a new dress or suit... maybe I can even go sleeveless for once. What’s your big picture of things you want to do, to wear?

I got my COVID-19 test yesterday... I’m terrified that it will come up positive and ruin everything. It’s not just a matter of having to wait longer; I have a lot going on in my life this year and a pretty narrow window to get the surgery. Somehow, everything came together for me to get the surgery during this window, and it feels too good to be true because nothing in my life ever works out the way it’s supposed to.

    Think positive! Stay positive ❤️

Hey sleeve twin... I was released yesterday too they wanted me to stay another day but I like to sleep without being interrupted... but any how... I didn’t know we can start the purée that soon....

So glad your home. Feeling better after eating for two days. Did a little waking outside this morning and returning back to feeling normal. Got the go ahead for purée food today. Kept scrambled eggs in so far. How are you feeling?
