I love seeing what you guys have to say - it truly makes me feel less alone. I mean, how many times can I tell my husband how happy I am to wear a pair of pants I haven’t been able to in awhile before he starts tuning me out!?

I’ve been determined to not buy too many clothes until after the first year but I have been allowing myself some new workout clothes for my hikes I’ve been doing. I’ve never had such a nice workout wardrobe!

On another note, I’ve finally stopped obsessing about the scale. It’s so much better for me this way. I walk 3 miles 5 days a week (walking up a mountain and back down) and THIS is why I had the surgery. To be able to be a fitness nut again. I love it and feel like my old self! And yeah, things keep fitting looser and looser so I know it’s still working.

Same feelings here! It feels great to get back into some physical activity I used to love. I let myself get really out of control for a long time and I'm just now recognizing how much my love of food took away my love of everything else.
I decided to only step on the scale maybe once a month and just focus on working out and eating right.
I'm leaving for a snowboarding trip in Armenia next week. Its my first time going in over a decade. When I was a teenager and in college I used to compete and was an instructor. I'm excited to go again, even if I know my weight is still too high and will be a hindrance.
One psychological struggle I'm having is that I'm a total fashionista. At every weight I've managed to have a great wardrobe and made it look GOOD. It's really hard to do that during weight loss and while I love that my clothes are way too big now I also don't want to buy anything new until I'm closer to a goal. However, that means a long time not having my fashion fix and I'm struggling.

Congrats, that’s so great! As a recovering (disposable) straw addict, I’m excited to try a straw and see if I have the same result. I feel like I could drink so much more that way. Silly, but it’s how I’m used to drinking fluids.

I’m currently starting week three of a stall. I did lose 35 pounds during the liver shrinking diet and the first few weeks after surgery. They told me to expect this but damn if I’m not ready for some weight loss! It’s definitely disheartening.

So I just got home from my first follow up (I was sleeved on the 24th). They told me over an over to not get upset if my weight loss just stalls in the next two weeks. Apparently this is really common and it’s just the body taking a breath and “catching up”. You’ve had lots of changes in there, you’re not doing anything wrong. You should start losing again soon.

Yep. The stalls suck. The weight fell off for a few weeks. Now, at 6 weeks out, its slow. In fact, its become the slowest I've ever lost weight. Not sure if I'm in a stall or have become a slow loser. Either way, I'll stay the course.

I lost 9 kilos the first 2 weeks then been stalled since. I know this is part of the process but it is bizarre that I'm eating so little yet not losing weight. I had my one month follow up from the surgeon though and I'm cleared to lift weights so woooo.

YES! I lost 10 on my 1 week pre op, 10 1 week post op and then nothing for 2 weeks. Having a stall so early on got me down. Increasing my Water intake is what broke it IMO. And I'm a straw addict as well lol! Hang in there, it will pass.

I hit 199 lbs, it was so exciting seeing that number on the scale this morning. I'm also 4 weeks post op so hitting that milestone today was perfect! I'm down 25lbs even though I endured a 2 week stall already (ugh!). Those stalls are disheartening.
My struggles are still getting my fluids in so I started using my (reusable) straws 2 days ago and that is helping. I don't have any additional "air bubbles" gurgling up than I did before the straws. I also struggle with eating too quickly and getting sick bc it gets stuck. I want to do 3 meals and 2 Snacks but I realistically can't do that right now with my daily schedule. I have to do about 2 oz of food at a time (or less) more frequently to get it all in and to keep my stomach happy. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired so my esophagus is healing as well.

Yeah, these sound like unreasonable expectations to me. I know the best advice is usually to listen to your doctor but what if the doctor won’t listen to you? That’s what it sounds like. You need to listen to your body and if all you can do is take a short walk, then do that. You did this surgery to be good to yourself, so continue being good to yourself. If you were my best friend I’d tell you to do healthy things that make you feel good for awhile and try not to let anyone pressure you. :)

Hey everybody, hope all is well!
I was sleeved on the 24th. After a week of doing really well, I had a pretty rough weekend. 2 cases of what (I assume) was dumping. The first episode was the worst. Had that feeling like right before you puke except I never puked and it lasted a couple of hours. The second episode was diarrhea (wow, can't believe I spelled that word right - I think that's a first!). They were both caused by homemade smoothies, possibly from drinking them too quickly. I really struggle with the sweetness of the packaged ones. Maybe it was the air from the blender. I don't know. I think today I'll just try diluting my Premier Protein (packaged) with skim milk and trying to take little, tiny sips.
I was also just feeling really down and lethargic - had lots of naps. Low calories? Christmas? Bored of this year and all it contains? Who knows!
Today is my first day back at work. (I work from home) I think having work to distract me will be good. I see my surgeon on Wednesday for my first follow-up. The good news is that I've lost about 13 pounds since surgery (30 total, including pre-op diet). So, one of my irrational fears (that this surgery wouldn't work for me) was silly

We are surgery buddies!! I had mine on the 24 too. I’ve been lethargic too. Probably because lack of calories.

My sleeve was on the 25th. I am right there where you are with the liquids. I am so worried about dehydration. I know you dont want to hear this because you are exhausted but small walks after each serving of Water (drinking until full) will help it go down to make room for more. Keep trying. You are worth it.

I’m on day 6 and still feeling pretty rough. I’m sure it’s because I’ve been consuming so few calories. Yesterday I slept almost all day. I’m really struggling with getting anything other than Water down. My fridge is full of opened Protein Drinks. I say “maybe I’ll try this again later”, but I don’t. I’m grateful to have this thread. It makes me feel a little less alone.

I had my sleeve that day as well. I’ve had to try lots of different things to find things that go down easier. Jello makes me vomit, Protein Shakes are tough - I have to drink them verrrry slowly, but Water and flavored water go down very well. I’m going to keep trying to find things that go down easily - and hopefully find some with Protein. My doc told me the most important part for this first 2 weeks is hydration so I’m working on that and trying not to worry about much else.

Don't back out! You can do it! I think the next 6 months are going to be hard, but once we get through that I think it will get easier. I look forward to shopping at Nordstrom next summer for the anniversary sale, and finally, finally, FINALLY being in regular sizes! I haven't been in non-plus sizes for over 40 years.
