  1. i am going in for my third fill next tuesday. i have felt absolutely NO DIFFERENT either of the other two times. i have 7cc in a 14cc band & i told my dr the last time i wanted him to put in 3 instead of 2 but he said no. i hope that i will feel restriction this time cuz willpower alone is not enough for me!!! i wanna feel it like other people do!!! i have never felt sick, pb, slimed, nothing (not that i wanted any of that)...i wanna know that my band is working! i know it is cuz i can only eat 1 cheeseburger when i used to eat 2 ---but like i told my dr, i only wanna be able to eat HALF! i still feel as if i can eat ANYTHING i want as if i never was banded but i know at some point i will be a big loser like so many other successful bandsters!!! wish me luck on fill #3!!:biggrin2:
  2. :frown:i was guilty of the exact same thing that u are doing but i called my dr & told him i was having a hard time following the pre op diet. he told me that NO MATTER WHAT i was to follow it to the letter AT LEAST 2 days b4 surgery or my liver wouldn't be shrunken enough! i did & all went well but i must tell u this, i had a hard time disciplining myself even afterward so PLEASE try to start now cuz the band does help but u still have to make a change MENTALLY! 2 months out & i am JUST NOW getting myself together!!! GOOD LUCK & CONGRATS... L LOVE MY LAP BAND!
  3. i have to monitor EVERYTHING that people bring into my house to eat (friends, family, ANYBODY) because it seems like willpower is just NOT ENOUGH for me! that cheescake would have been BAD NEWS for me!! i hope that i get to my sweet spot SOON so that at least i can try to have a little bit & that be enough! i REALLY must learn to control my head hunger---any suggestions? i usually try to drink more water but i need...something else!! HELP
  4. so glad this is working for you! i am just curious as to why your dr told you that you would not be eligible? do you not meet the weight requirements? i know you should be 100lbs overweight to be considered by most surgeons. whatevr happens, good luck!
  5. i feel as you all do, too. i've been filled twice so far & i never feel any different than i used to. granted, i can only eat 1 cheeseburger when i used to eat 2 but i still don't really feel restricted! i suppose that maybe i need to work a little harder & actually eat better but i have some days i just wake up HUNGRY!!! those days i TRY to drink more water & have slim fast or another protein shake but sometimes the food cravings get the best of me. those are the days that i tend to snack between meals instead of following the rules for the 3 a day! PERHAPS I NEED AN APPETITE SUPPRESSANT?? or not...i KNOW its head hunger but i haven't learned just exactly how to control that yet. i guess it comes with time.
  6. sooo jealous but at the same time happy & excited for you! unfortunately , i cannot say my experience has been the same! i have been filled twice but i think i need another asap! i feel no real restriction but i am trying (this month) to follow a sensible diet & exercise so that perhaps i will at least lose 2lbs weekly. i think as long as you get in the proper amount of protein everything is gonna be alright!!
  7. oh god!! i was buying those gas x strips so much i wish i had stock in them! it has slowed down a bit but some days its really really really bad!! my 7yo thinks its sooo funny! he says "when u fart its a sugn of happiness!" something i'm willing to bet my life he got off tv... but now we both laugh so maybe he is correct!
  8. had my second fill yesterday & told my dr that i was seriously disappointed that i had only lost two lbs since my last fill a month ago. i agree that i need to make wiser food choices BUT i keep saying also after being scolded by several other bandsters that although i agree 100% that "the band is a tool" i think if it wasn't EXTREMELY necessary NONE OF US would have gotten it!!! perhaps we should just wait for the sweet spot with another plan in effect. this month i plan to follow WW along with my fill & perhaps even if i dont feel restriction i will still lose & learn to properly eat less... GOOD LUCK to everyone else with the same issue!
  9. sorry to reply so late but i'm sure everything will be (or was) alright. it is much different than an iv and a lot less painful. the anticipation is the worst part. i actually had my second fill today and it was less painful than the first, which was much like a pin poke. let us know how it went! a few seconds of discomfort is so worth the end result! good luck---
  10. jealous & envious of your diet post op cuz my dr was soooo strict it was (and still is) a bit hard to stick with! are you losing well? my nutritionist told me to aim for 50 grams of protein daily. usually make that up with 2 muscle milk shakes (the low fat ones)---taste okay but the calories still seem kinda high to me
  11. WHATS WRONG WITH ME??? ever since i got my first fill i can eat more than ever!!! trying to just make wise choices but its NOT WORKING- thats why i got banded to begin with! i realize the band is just a tool BUT i feel as if it wasn't needed NONE of us would have it! SLAP me back into reality since i've already called my dr & will be getting my second fill next tuesday but until then i need some encouragement cuz i feel like i'm losing control of myself!!! HELP!!!
  12. everyone is different. i suppose it depends on your tolerance for pain. i was very nervous but the anticipation is the worst! i sat on the table with a pillow underneath my back, arched slightly. dr felt for the port, prepped the spot, one QUICK poke! done---painlessly!! dont worry.
  13. it may be too soon to know but i was the worst offender! i couldnt follow the pre op OR post op diets & i called the dietician over & over to try to get on track. she told me i was "just lucky not to have ended up back in the hospital" but offered no real explanations! she did say that "your stomach is like a new baby stomach" but that was all. i'm not trying to support or suggest that anyone do as i was doing but RIGHT NOW everything with me is ok---i will be sure to keep you up to date on any problems i may encounter in the future; if any! lets keep our fingers crossed!!!
  14. u look great! one day i will find pics to post!! keep up the good work!!
  15. my dr was very specific about food but it appeared to me that he was much stricter than most... anyway, for the fill dont worry at all! i went in for my first fill & this other lady in the office says to me "is this your first fill? its gonna hurt REALLY bad!" so i sit there nervously, anxiously awaiting. then the dr comes in with this huge needle & a pillow for my back & i waited while he prepped the port...SCARED! then he poked me & i barely felt it! i said "is that all?" he replied, "yes, all done!" no pain, just anticipation!!!
  16. dont be scared of the scars!!! extra tiny 4-kinda like a stab & 1 big one which is small itself, maybe an inch & a half tops! one month out & i can barely see the 4 & the biggest is faded---its ALL GOOD
  17. thats worth traveling to texas!!!
  18. who did your tt? it looks GREAT!!!
  19. i agree with you totally about the malabsorption! a good friend of mine had the rny & tried to talk me into it. she is very happy with the results although to me she looks unhealthy, however she is THIN- which is ALL she was concerned about. i think that us banders took the safer, healthier route & in the end we will be more accustomed to eating properly, the bypass patients are more SHOCKED & FORCED into change, with us its gradual & a wee bit slower. on the plus side, WE dont have to worry (NECESSARILY) about our pouches stretching back out & gaining ALL that weight back!!! WHO CARES WHAT THEY THINK? ALL OF US took steps with medical interventions to get on the road to weight loss success & HEALTH!!
  20. i got my first fill (PAINLESS & QUICKLY-anticipation was th worst!) on Fri- June 27th. since then i feel like i can eat MORE than ever!!! called my dr as soon as i read this thread & had my next appt moved up from Aug 2nd to July 22!! dont know whats up but i have never felt restriction, even after getting banded... working STRICTLY on will power!
  21. i get my first fill today & i am quite excited although very nervous!! wish me luck!
  22. froggi, anybody calling you a whore either doesnt have a man, has a man who isnt pleased, OR they HAVE a man who is being pleased by SOMEBODY ELSE!!! perhaps the frigid prudes shouldnt have read the comment once they saw it said "something personal"! do whatever makes you happy...
  23. my dr gave me lovenox to self inject in the belly area under the navel for 7 days post-op & LOTS of walking immediately afterwards.
  24. hope you feel better!
  25. wasnt very true to the pre-op diet, didnt follow the post-op too well til my nutritionist gave me down the road, now trying very hard to break my addiction to food but thru all of that badness (i swear i will do better to get on the good foot) i still lost 21.7lbs with no restriction! i wanna do better so i can make you all proud of me as we take our journey together!!!
