  1. I have been dieting and losing slowly but I am one of those people that weighs myself several times a day. I have noticed that my weight flexes between 3 & 5 lbs between times I weigh myself. I have been going by my morning weight but was wondering if this is normal. I got up this morning and weighed myself but when I got done working out at the gym I was up 5lbs. I am trying to make my weigh in so I can get my surgery date, this is all driving me crazy. I know I shouldn't be obsessed with the scale but I am and my appointment is this coming Tuesday but in the afternoon.
  2. I want to lose about 160lbs that is less then my Ideal weight also but I don't want to look sickly.
  3. My insurance requires me to lose 5% of my body weight. I made this once and had surgery scheduled for June 30th, went into have my surgery and was up by about 8lbs so DR cancelled my surgery and had me see another DR in her clinic who put me on a liquid diet for 4 weeks and told me I have to lose 30lbs before surgery. I tried to find another DR in my area but insurance only approves this DR. So here I am trying to lose 30lbs. I have already got past my insurance requirement so I'll see what what they say when I go in on Tuesday. Just to clarify I orginally lost 17lbs to meet insurance requirement then gained 8lbs of that back.
  4. OK so I wrote in here about 2 weeks ago. I was on the table ready for surgery when my Dr. looked at my chart and saw I gained 8lbs back from the 17 I had lost and cancelled my surgery. I was then schedule to see another Dr in her clinic to help with diet. He put me on a liquid diet allowing me 2 salads a day telling me he wanted me to have about 900 calories a day. I have been doing a shake for breakfast then about a cup of salad for lunch and a couple pieces of turkey then I someday's have a 1/2 cup of veggies in afternoon to get me to dinner then I have a small salad and meat for dinner. I realize this isn't the diet he put me on but after doing research found more people lose weight on a low carb diet then anything else. I have been walking around 2 miles a day. I have not lost any weight and don't know what to do. I see him on the 29th. I am eating less calories then he suggested and still nothing. Any suggestion to lose another 10lbs by the 29th???? Please help
  5. I started the program to get the lap band in Feb. and was able to lose my insurance requirement weight of 5% of my weight. I had lost 17lbs to get a surgery date this was in May. I got a surgery date of June 30th and was not put on any kind of pre op diet and was told by the surgeons office the weight lose requirment was for insurance reasons only. I have had 3 friends that have went through the same process and all gained back their weight before surgery. (they did have the by-pass surgery) so when I went to the hospital for surgery and got weighed I had gained back 8lbs. My surgeon came in and to my surprise canceled my surgery due to the weight gain then had me meet with another Dr in her office who told me I have to go on a 4 week liquid diet and lose 30lbs not just the 8 I gained. Has this happened to anyone else? Not only do I feel like a failure but if I could do liquid diets for such long periods I wouldn't need surgery. Please help I feel like giving up. I cried the whole way home telling my husband I am to fat to have the surgery.

I am I the only Failure

I have asked several times to reschedule and I am told by the clinic they will not reschedule until I come back in four weeks and they see how I have done. Also I have been on the shakes for 3 days now and weighed myself and to my total suprise I gained 3 lbs. I am so mad right now. I will stick with it though because I really want to be banded. I am praying I can have the surgery in August.

I am I the only Failure

Thank you all for your encouragement. I did call my insurance company and told them I wanted to switch surgeons and was told by them that my surgeon is the only one approved by them to do the surgery in this state.(Oregon) I am so disappointed. I have started the liquid diet but 4 weeks of it almost seems like punishment. Thanks again
  8. My surgery is scheduled for June 30th. I have been so excited but I am starting to get nervous. My doctor doesn't have any pre surgery diet but I am reading alot who do and I am thinking should I be on a diet. What if my liver is too big. My husband tells me I am just getting nervous which he is right. Does anyone have any good advise for pre and post surgery. What should I expect in the hospital?

    Getting Banded June 30th. HELP

Thank you all for the great advise. I am going to go on a pre op diet just for myself. I am still nervous and am scared of the unknown like what to expect at the fills and right after surgery. I just can't believe it's only 14 days away.
  10. OK so I have a question did you have to lose weight to qualify for the surgery? My insurance required I lose 5% of my body weightm which I did by doing Atkins and water pills. Know I am back up to my original weight and I am hearing things about shrinking your liver and I am worried that I should be dieting right know instead I am eating like it's my last meal.
  11. I am having surgery the 30th so pretty close. :tongue2: I am so excited but I am worried that I won't lose weight after the surgery. I am not quite sure why that is my concern but it is.

    New to all

Hello, I am new to not only lap band surgery scheduled for June 30th, but also to a forum. I am 326lbs and I am so excited to have the surgery. I do have a question that I am having a hard time finding out an answer too. I have PCOS and that makes it hard to lose weight, believe after months of following strict diets and only losing 3 or 4 lbs is very flustrating. Does anyone have PCOS and banded and how are you doing on the weight loss? Thank you for helping. I have learned alot already just reading other threads.
