  1. I was thinking yesterday about my first band and I know now that I didnt have enough fills, before it broke. The only time i reached that sweet spot was after those long haul flights. It didnt last long and then went back to how it had been previous to the flights. Now because I could only eat certain foods I thought I had reached the SS, but on reflection I know I hadnt cos I was still starving. I will know better this time.
  2. You two have got me worried, you shouldnt be able to eat bread, I can only manage it sometimes, and i havent even had a fill. Ahh I see its only Flirtydrawers, sorry. You see bread goes into a ball of dough when swallowed and will block up the opening, so how are you doing it? CW you are a smooth talker, but bring it on, I love it lol. Am thinking of you sweetie, you'll be fine and soon be home.
  3. For all you 'would - be bandsters' or those of you that are wondering if they did the right thing in getting the band, have you seen the before and after piccys on this board? I stumbled upon it by chance...its a great inspiration to us all. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/before-after-lap-band-surgery-pictures-only-4642/ They're all great but scroll down and look at Kristy, her before and after are bl**dy amazing!!!!!!
  4. have we had some downtime today? I avent been able to access the board all evening. Ok now, do you guys know what kind of band you have? I mailed my surgeon for the details of mine to let them know when I go to Mcr on Thursday and he tells me its an APS band small and it can hold anything between 9 - 11 mil. I have done a bit of research and found this..... But this was posted in 2007.
  5. CW many thanx for your good wishes for my Mum. much appreciated. now try not to be nervous, you will find out that you are worrying over nothing. You will be fine. its the fear of the unknown that is making you nervous, all will be worth it. Just think about all the people that he's banded and be glad to be part of our great board. You know you can share everything with us when you come home. have a good flight and take care of you. I am not losing anything atm, (but do feel thinner,) but I know its cos i have given up smoking and havent had a fill yet. But i know it will come off, it did last time. I am on my second band and if the op was that bad I wouldnt have had it done again, just bear that in mind when you start getting jittery, and i'm an old trout, so no worries. xxx
  6. Bless you Shoes, lovely to hear from you. I hope your Mum will improve, she must feel very down, poor thing. That girl has done so well over 10stone!!!!! Damn amazing she must feel like a princess, I'd love to see before and after pics. Cantweight, how long before you get your band now? I'm just too lazy to read back, well I dont have a lot of time anymore.:scared2: I'm still waiting for MVDB's secretary to send me the details of my band, so I can tell Freddy boy , not that he's likely to overfill me though
  7. Yes Flirty change your name lol. Oh carrie I admire your Mum, if I had the money I would get everything lifted, I think us ladies owe it to ourselves, well not all of you, but me certainly would love it.
  8. Thanx Wishfull, yes I feel like I'm climbing a mountain every few days, worn out by it all. A couple of the visitors today told me that my Mum was very poorly last night, during visiting, the ward manager didnt mention it though. The lady from th4e NH told me that also when she phoned me today. I feel like I should go back again tonight, just to see how she is. Be nice to see you girlies on Thursday.xx
  9. Oh Flirtydrawers you tryna put our Aberdeen Angus off you before you get to meet? lol. I am so looking forward to meeting you too Sammy, will be great to compare notes. And Wishfull, I am going to meet you, I can feel it in my water lol....they do call me Septic Peg round here. Mum was very poorly this afternoon, she was shaking so bad I thought she was fitting, but I got the staff nurse and she got a doctor, who examined Mum and assured me it wasnt a fit, but trauma, due to dehydration!!!!! Again!!! She's now on a saline drip again. But i dont think its pneumonia, or at least they havent said it is. I just wish it would stop and she wouldnt have so much pain and discomfort. Ok, moaning over.
  10. Flirtydrawers do I sniff a romance in the air. Is there something you're not telling us? You been sending love pm's to each other.....
  11. Pity about the driving as we could all go for a drink together. never mind we can have water lol. Wishfull I think i have the postcode, so will put it in the sat nav, the airport area is easier to get to than central Manchester, will look forward to seeing all you babies lol. Thanx for the little comments re my Mum. I phoned the Wrad manager today and also spoke to the lady from the nursing home who visited last night. Mum is now on anti-biotics and a nebuliser. The n/h wont take her until she's better, and rightly so, but she did assure me that there is a bed waiting for Mum. I am so relieved about that. But she seemed to think Mum could have pneumonia. The hospital are not confirming that atm though, please God its not.
  12. Gillian my daughter and also her friend just phoned the hospital and they had a nurse on hand in the Spire to do defills if need be. I'm sure if that happened you would have to phone your fill person and ask them if they could remove some for you, in their experience they knew in a couple of hours they were overfilled. I flew home with Rachel's friend from Southampton and she had a large plastic cup full at the end of the hour flight back to Manchester. Dont worry too much, just ask next time you go if they have an emergency service/phone number in case of an overfill. If you worry about it, your band will tighten up anyway. My Mum has a hacking cough, and is not yet been given anything for it. I'm pretty certain its a chest infection from whats coming up, but they have sent some off to the lab after I showed the staff nurse. Now they are 'growing' it and waiting to see what antibiotics to give her...Ffs sake!! The matron of the home says if she does have a chest inf. then we will have to wait for her course of pills to finish, because it could develop into pneumonia. I really dont know what to think now, I told them last week she had a sore throat, and they didnt do anything about it. I bought some Oraldine and gargled her throat a few times for her, but it needed doing every few hours. It just never stops does it.:smile2:
  13. Thank you Gillian, i hope so too. I have phoned the nursing home where she goes when I go on holiday, and asked if they would put her name on the waiting list as if she does need to go in then she wont be put somewhere she doesnt know. She loves the staff at this one and they love her too. They told me someone will be going to the hospital tomorrow to assess her. I dont know if its the constant stress or all the chasing out to the shops and hospital visiting is getting to me, but my tum is so sore, I'm not sure if i could stand the needle for a fill atm. Will have to wait and see how it feels then. Overfills are dreadful my daughter and her friend both had it, they both ( on different occasions) had to back and get a de-fill, and I can tell you they were both very frightened. It is better to take it slow girls, dont be too hasty and get the band to work for you.:smile2:
  14. Thank you people for the good wishes about my Mum. I took her some balloons and a cake in this afternoon, no flowers are allowed, and she has loads of sweets, chocs and everything else, so stuck really what to get her. Gilian I hope your restriction is there for keeps hun. You may not need your fill in 2 weeks. I used to find if i got stressed or agitated my band tightened like mad. Just for future reference.
  15. My appointment is 1pm hunny, so I think I'll still be around if its as busy as it was went you were there last. No my Mum may never be able to come home they are talking about her being put into a residential care home now, because she needs 24 hour care. She has Dimensia and cant remember me telling her (every day) that if she doesnt try to walk she wont be coming home. She quite often refuses physiotherapy so cant even walk yet and this is 5 weeks post op. They are still dopes in the ward, I have to point things out to them all the time. She has developed a hacking productive cough and I told the staff nurse, on Monday (because they hadnt noticed this) and last night she asked me to get a sample so she could get it analysed.:seeya: I am worried to death about her. I want her moved to our local hospital so I can go in more often and encourage her to eat and drink, as the staff are too busy at this hospital to do that. But its going to take forever. I have a meeting with the consultant tomorrow. bet you wished you hadnt asked now eh.
  16. You know what Gillian, at first, when I had fills, my band used to be so tight in the mornings I couldnt even drink for a couple of hours. Bring it on, this is what I want, but will be having to wait a while I know.
  17. yes, I'm sure...now you just put me off waiting for you. I dont need any more stress than I'm having Wishful, my Mum is still not walking/eating or drinking, so I am not as happy bunny. If you see me, just wave hello, I wont be hanging about.

  20. No wonder I'm sore, I just watched a video of an eroded band being removed The reason i looked was to find out what an eroded band looked like, cos MVDB told me that the tubing had eroded and there was a hole in it. Yikes. To think I have been through that twice, wasnt too bad actually, it was the removal of the faulty one that is causing me pain I think. Oh blinkin eck Garry, you wont see me cos I'm 1pm....you'll be long gone when i get there unless you're hanging around waiting for us chicks to get there:w00t: Which is not a bad thing btw:laugh:
  21. So isnt vanessa going on the same day? I hope she's not there when I go, she might belt me :cool2: So, you will have to approach me cos you know what I look like kid  I hope to see you there. Do you want me to wear a pink carnation? :mad2:
